Ambulance overturns on slippery road in Melaka, causing 1km jam
MELAKA: A Health Ministry ambulance skidded and overturned near Kampung Paya Luboh, Tangga Batu, this morning, believed to be due to slippery road conditions.
A 30-year-old medical assistant was injured in the 10.40am incident. The 40-year-old ambulance driver was unhurt.
Melaka Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Deputy Superintendent II Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid said the department received a distress call at 10.48am and despatched eight firefighters from the Tangga Batu station.
"Upon arrival about 10 minutes later, the team found a Toyota Hiace ambulance and one injured man.
"Operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Mohamed Azuani Mat Yusof confirmed that the victim was extracted and taken to Melaka Hospital for treatment."
It is understood that the ambulance was on its way to pick up a patient when it overturned at a bend. The road was believed to be wet and slippery following rainfall.
