According to a MAWSS news release, the issue was caused by a broken pipe, and was reported by Baykeeper at 7273 Wilson Street.
According to the report, approximately 799,817 gallons of wastewater overflowed into a ditch that had eroded within an easement between Old Shell Road and Airport Boulevard.
At least 622,080 gallons of water was contained within the ditch, but 177,737 gallons of water flowed into Milkhouse Creek, the release said.
To get to the site, an access road had to be built to mobilize equipment. To stop the overflow and continue to reroute the wastewater around the broken pipe, a bypass pump was installed.
