Choose Headscarves Over Bucket Hats, SPF Over Glitter And 9 Other Swaps To Make For Glastonbury 2025

There's no one way to festival. Everyone has their preferences from camping to caravans, wellies to Wallabees. But, as to be expected, there are fresh fashion arrivals that place high on many shared sartorial agendas ahead of events like Glastonbury. Think about the explosion of popularity that has surrounded the bucket hat in recent years. If there's anyone that knows a thing or two about what to wear, pack, or bring to a festival its the ELLE editors who have, between them, attended hundreds of festivals. But, ask them what's on their festival shopping list and you might find it surprisingly short. We're less about buying new for the three-day affair, more into adapting what we already have with small style switch ups that we plan to wear long after the final headline act has done its encore. What's hot and what's not this festival season? After much discussion, the ELLE editors have put together the definitive list. Read on to find out. Sorry, bucket hats, your reign is over. This summer the easiest, chicest swap to make is to leave your hat at home and wear a silk scarf in its place. Or, do both and layer your baseball cap with a jaunty scarf. The choice of fashion girls and skincare obsessives alike. Denim shorts might be synonymous with festival fashion but there's no time like the present to switch them out for something a little lighter. Enter bloomers, like these from Reformation. As skimpy as their predecessors but in cotton fabrics to make for a lighter, less-chafey wear. Very darling. Tiny sunglasses have had their time. Those looking to amplify their look and sun protection this Glasto and beyond should choose supersized specs. These from Phoebe Philo are the blueprint. With warm weather expected, you can leave the Wellingtons at home to try something lighter over the weekend. The new trainer to know is the sneakerina, which for all its ballet shoe-cum-trainer hybridness makes for the perfect dancing shoe. Our festival favourites? These, for £38. As Cara confessed to ELLE UK just a few weeks ago, a Burberry kilt is going to be front and centre of her summer festival wardrobe. Pack away the slip dresses and have fun in a flirty little kilt instead. We know, we know. It's hardly breaking news that flower crowns have fallen out of vogue, but it's been some time since a contender for the same easy-to-wear, slightly dreamy add-on had been put forward. Fortunately, SS25's love of the chain belt (preferably numerous options layered) steps in just in time for festival season. Miu Miu and Rabanne have great options but so too will your favourite vintage store. There's nothing chicer than an honest, even glow that comes from protecting our skin year-round. Instead of piling on the glitter and gems, choose to swipe regular application of SPF instead. Supergoop's Everyday Sunscreen Stick makes this easy. Follow Miu Miu's lead and swap out a classic jersey hoodie for an equally cosy technical fleece this festival season. You don't need to spend £1.5k to get the look either. A trip to Mountain Warehouse awaits! Taking photos on a Polaroid doesn't only make for romantic shots of your festival experience, but it also stops you from spending any time at all on your phone. We've all gone to take a photo and ended up replying to an email or a text that could most definitely wait. Be in the moment with a little help from Polaroid. It has just released its smallest ever instant camera, too. Get up close and personal with the music without any of the ear damage by wearing a pair of Loop Earplugs, which will also come in handy when you finally do decide to get some sleep. The Experience 2 are best recommended for gigs, FYI. Keep that gut healthy when you're down on Worthy Farm. We're not saying you can't have a classic boozy festival beverage, but notice how better you'll feel for making a few swaps out here and there. Living Things are ELLE UK's favourite. Freelancer

Read Between the Lines: 5 Ways to Style the Striped Polo

Riffed off, deconstructed, or replicated to a tee, preppy style has provided fashion houses and labels plenty of source material to work off of in recent years, filtering it through their own lens. Last spring, two mainstays of the look, namely boat shoes and pleated skirts, showed up on the Loewe and Miu Miu runways with a twist—super short, in luxe leather, and styled in fresh, irreverent ways. The striped polo, too, has gotten the designer treatment. Most recently, the sporty staple appeared (and reappeared) in Chanel's resort 2026 collection in unexpected pairings that were anything but prim. Vogue's Favorite Striped Polos: Surprisingly, the striped polo is shaping up to be one of the most versatile pieces of the season. Its clean lines and graphic punch make it easy to style in ways that feel fun without veering too preppy. Pair it with minimalist essentials like a sleek maxi skirt and flip-flops for a modern approach, or give it in a more directional tone by contrasting it with sparkling statement pieces (another key summer trend) for a high-low mix that toes the line between playful and elevated. This isn't your dad's striped polo (and even further away from the one you might find in Lisa Birnbach's The Official Preppy Handbook)—it's the kind of evergreen style that can anchor a thoughtfully-layered summer wardrobe. Here's how were interpreting it for the season. Earn Your Stripes A striped polo and striped board shorts work together to create a cool, off-duty summer look. Ballet flats and a straw tote add a prim touch for a balanced finish. Opposites Attract Here, a boxy striped polo contrasts with Tory Burch's mirrored skirt for an irreverent juxtaposition of casual and statement pieces. Fine Lines Miu Miu's oversized striped polo works well with slim capri pants, clean flats, and a subtle statement summer bag. Solids and Stripes A slouchy polo paired with a maxi skirt and red mesh flats creates a relaxed, elevated silhouette for summer. The Parting Line A striped polo with white trousers and flip flops is a straightforward, timeless look, ideal for hot summer days. Shop more striped polos:

Coleen Rooney shows off her toned figure in a blue bikini as she soaks up the sun at beach club in Ibiza with husband Wayne - after winning Wagatha Christie battle

Coleen Rooney showed off her toned figure in a blue bikini as she soaked up the sun in Ibiza on Friday with her husband Wayne. The WAG and businesswoman, 39, was making the most of her time away at the Cala Bassa Beach Club on the party island. Coleen turned heads in a striking blue halter neck bikini, showing off her enviable figure as she cooled off with a swim before going to join Wayne for a drink at the club. She accessorised perfectly for the sunny day with a pair of designer Miu Miu shades and swept back her brunette tresses while topping up her tan. Former Manchester United and England footballer Wayne, also 39, looked every bit the holidaymaker as he reclined on a sun lounger with a glass of sparkling sangria in hand. The couple appeared completely at ease, smiling and chatting as they enjoyed some much-needed downtime in the sun. Coleen turned heads in a striking blue halter neck bikini, showing off her enviable figure as she cooled off with a swim before going join Wayne for a drink at the club Their holiday comes hot on the heels of Coleen's rival Rebekah Vardy speaking out on their Wagatha Christie drama. She has claimed she faced 'more scrutiny than murderers and paedophiles' amid the court case. In 2019, the WAG was publicly accused of leaking stories about Coleen to The Sun newspaper, which she furiously denied, resulting in a high profile court battle. Rebekah, 43, suffered further humiliation when she lost her libel case and in a fresh blow last month she was ordered to pay £1,190,000 of Coleen's legal bills. And this week the mother-of-five has claimed the backlash towards her was disproportionate and has continued to protest her innocence. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Rebekah insisted: 'I didn't sell stories to The Sun newspaper and that really is the end of it'. Claiming that she 'got the raw end of that', she continued: 'In fact, I think murderers and paedophiles have faced far less scrutiny than I did.' Yet Rebekah noted that now she's 'at peace' and is looking forward, in particular, to an upcoming Netflix documentary about husband Jamie. She also revealed that she is still in touch with Caroline Watt - her former agent - who she claimed was responsible for leaking the stories behind her back. After her swim they enjoyed a refreshing drink at the beach club She accessorised perfectly for the sunny day with a pair of designer Miu Miu shades and swept back her brunette tresses while topping up her tan She looked great in the flattering blue bikini Caroline was also the owner of a mobile phone filled with evidence that ended up at the bottom of the North Sea - or 'Davy Jones's locker' as it was famously dubbed in court. Rebekah claimed that Coleen's legal team had been 'unfair and completely unjust' in serving paperwork to Caroline's home rather than through her lawyers and that Caroline had been through 'considerable anguish'. Caroline did not testify during the trial, after being deemed 'not fit to provide oral evidence', and is yet to provide comment on the matter. When told that fans would be keen to hear Caroline's side of story, Rebekah mused: 'Well, maybe there's a different version of that completely.' Last month, the six-year legal battle finally came to an end when Rebekah agreed to pay £1,190,000 of Coleen's legal bill, plus was ordered to pay a further £212,266 in assessment costs, after sensationally losing their high-profile libel case. This takes the total Rebekah must pay to at least £1,402,266.20. MailOnline understands she has already paid some of the bill, including £800,000 four years ago and £100,000 last year. Coleen must also pay Rebekah a total of £135,097.50 in costs under the terms of court orders from 2024, which will be set off against what Rebekah must pay. A source close to Rebekah told MailOnline: 'It's a huge relief for Rebekah that this long legal battle is now coming to an end. 'She's looking forward to putting the whole ordeal well and truly behind her. 'Now she's just focusing on the future. And there are some big plans coming up for her now that she just wants to get cracking with.' Coleen ran up a legal bill of more than £1.8 million while successfully defending herself against Rebekah's High Court claim in 2022. After losing their High Court showdown, Rebekah was ordered to pay 90 percent of Coleen's legal costs. Her lawyer previously argued Coleen's team had used a 'kitchen sink' approach when calculating the total and included 'over £120,000 of costs to which Coleen has no entitlement'. It was also claimed the bill included costs for one of the WAG's team to stay at Nobu - a five star luxury hotel - and 'substantial dinner and drinks charges as well as mini bar charges'. The lawyer said Coleen's £1,833,906.89 legal bill was over three times her 'agreed costs budget of £540,779.07'. But Coleen's lawyer, Robin Dunne, had argued it was 'frankly outrageous' to accuse them of dishonesty. The catalyst for the famous Wagatha Christie case was a dramatic open letter written by Coleen and posted on social media in October 2019 in which she revealed she had turned detective to figure out who had been leaking the stories. Coleen publicly claimed Rebekah's account was the source behind three newspaper stories featuring fake details she had posted on her private Instagram profile - her travelling to Mexico for a 'gender selection' procedure, her planning to return to TV and the basement flooding at her home. What followed was a tearful appearance from Rebekah on ITV's Loose Women in February 2020 in which claimed the stress over the dispute had caused her to have anxiety attacks so severe she 'ended up in hospital three times'. The emotional display was met by Coleen with a statement to say she did not want to 'engage in further public debate' on the matter. Meanwhile Rebekah has been enjoying a holiday of her own this week with some girlfriends Four months later, in June 2020, Rebekah began legal proceedings against Coleen for libel with her lawyers alleging she had 'suffered extreme distress, hurt, anxiety and embarrassment as a result of the publication of the post and the events which followed'. When the case returned to the courts in February 2022, a series of explosive messages between Rebekah and her agent Caroline were revealed with Coleen's lawyers alleging they were about her. In May 2022, the women finally came face-to-face in court to give evidence as the Wagatha Christie trial began in the Royal Courts of Justice in London. Coleen secured her victory the next month when Mrs Justice Steyn delivered her verdict, dismissing the claim made by Rebekah and finding Coleen had proved the meaning of her famous accusatory letter was 'substantially true'. Whilst Coleen said she was 'pleased' the judge had ruled in her favour, Rebekah declared she was 'extremely sad and disappointed' at the decision.

Selena Gomez Wears Little Black Miu Miu Dress With Velvet Bow Detail

THE RUNDOWN On Thursday, Selena Gomez shared some photos from her appearance on Match Game with Cara Delevingne wearing a black Miu Miu dress. The simple satin form-fitting look was topped with a velvet bow that criss-crossed her chest and over her shoulders, creating a racerback effect. In the caption of behind-the-scenes photos, she wrote, 'I realized I didn't post Marty lol HOWEVER thank you for having all of us on MATCH GAME on abc.' Her stylist, Erin Walsh, shared more shots of the full look, including the earrings and ring jewelry from Agapée. The Only Murders in the Building star was wearing her hair down in a sleek lob with a center part and had on a pale pink manicure. For makeup, the star was wearing her own Rare Beauty line with cat eyeliner, brown eyeshadow, and a warm pink lip. Shortly after sharing the new carousel, Gomez posted a shot of herself de-glammed, walking down the street in Los Angeles with her fiancé, Benny Blanco. They were both wearing comfortable hoodies, with Gomez in white and Blanco in bright blue with Hawaiian shorts. The singer had on a pair of black sunglasses and made a face towards the camera. The couple got engaged in December 2024 and have reportedly already sent out invitations to the wedding. In a joint Rolling Stone interview in March, Blanco joked about planning the big event, saying, 'I think every day she's planned a new wedding in her head. We're very much 'take it one day at a time'-type of people. We're still not over this moment. Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring.' Blanco added, 'It feels like we got engaged yesterday, but also feels like we got engaged 20 years ago. I've known her since she was 18, and so it's like we got all that stuff out of the way. By the time we're dating, it's like, whoa. My biggest regret is that we didn't get to do this earlier, like we waited this long to be together. But I know it was perfect and it was right.'

8 of the best trending skirt styles to wear instead of a dress this summer

Bored of wearing a summer dress on repeat? A skirt promises to be just as easy and breezy. And, given the number of different styles we spotted on the spring/summer 2025 runways, it is likely to earn you extra style points, too. Sure, opting for a skirt does require thinking about what to wear on your top half. We totally get it's not quite the same throw-on-and-go, 'one and done' solution as a dress. But, sometimes it's worth putting in the extra effort and brain power needed to pull together a full look. That being said, you really can't go wrong with a graphic T-shirt (FYI, it's the new band tee) for a cool, casual look that's easily smartened up with a blazer added on top. We take back what we said, wearing a skirt *IS* an easy outfit option this summer. To make sure you're bang on trend, we've rounded up the best trending skirt styles to know about RN. All that's left to do is for you to choose your fighter and pick whichever shoes or sandals you'll be pairing your selected skirt with. Everyone's favourite Y2K trend shows no sign of slowing down, so if you have yet to get in on the look, consider now the time to try it. Like many of this season's skirt trends, bubble hems come in a few different lengths, meaning there's a style for everyone. You could even tick off two trends in one with a white bubble hem midi. Tap into the naked dressing aesthetic without going starkers by donning a lace skirt. Again, this design comes in a few different length and colour options, but we'd advise sticking to a neutral colour palette of black or white if the skirt's sheerness is already enough of a statement for you. As for how risqué you want your outfit to be, wear with a long top or sports jersey that covers your bottom, or embrace the transparency and wear a pair of big knickers underneath. The easiest trend to try is a simple white midi skirt. You may even have one in your wardrobe from last summer! Whether you opt for a just below the knee number or an ankle-grazing design, tiered or pleated, there are myriad different ways to style yours, depending on if you're heading to work or to a park picnic with friends. Consider this a crucial building block of your summer capsule wardrobe. Bohemian, floor sweeping silhouettes – think cascading tiers, romantic ruffles and just generally floaty, flowy and frilly – are reigning supreme right now thanks to the likes of Chloé and Saint Laurent, where a sense of '70s nostalgia infected the runways. Counteract the look by wearing with an oversized tee (as previously mentioned) or a boxy leather or suede jacket. Miu Miu led the way with preppy pleats parading down the SS25 runway, confirming this school girl favourite is back and all grown up. Whether you prefer a box-pleated mini or a swishy mid-length design in a more narrow knife-pleat, there's no limit to the number of options – from colourways to pleat width – available on the high street to make this look work IRL. Charli XCX is your style muse when it comes to asymmetric skirts, as our Brat queen can regularly be seen rocking high-low hemlines. Whether you go for a subtle dipped hem or a dramatic diagonal situation, make sure to pair it with something simple on top and plenty of attitude. Skirts are going statement! From 3D floral corsage adornments to beaded embellishments and all-over sequins, the brief here is more is more. The best part? You can get in on this look with just about every skirt length. Die-hard mini fans and exclusively midi gals unite! Courtesy of Saint Laurent, Jil Sander and Dries Van Noten's SS25 collections, double-layer skirts are officially a thing. The premise is simple: a second layer peeping out from the bottom of your hemline in either the same or a different fabric. We'll totally be trying to DIY this trend by wearing two skirts together. The key to nailing the look is to make sure the gap between the first and second skirts finishing is a few inches – just enough to clearly differentiate, but not too much it loses its unity and blatantly looks like you threw your shortest mini over your floor-sweeping maxi.
