Arsenal negotiations stall as Benjamin Sesko's agent makes transfer comment

Benjamin Sesko remains top of Arsenal's transfer agenda as the Gunners look to strengthen Mikel Arteta's options up front and Nico Williams has moved closer to a move from Athletic Bilbao Arsenal are set for a busy summer in the transfer market as they look to finally strengthen their forward line. Mikel Arteta has been desperate for a striker to aid his team's bid to win a trophy. The north London side have been linked to deals for Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres in the coming weeks, but are also looking to strengthen elsewhere in the squad. Martin Zubimendi is set to arrive in midfield, while there is also a desire to land a winger and defender. ‌ Sporting director Andrea Berta has already tied down Gabriel Magalhaes to a new deal. There are ambitions to secure the futures of Bukayo Saka and Myles Lewis-Skelly too. ‌ Meanwhile, Jorginho has already departed the Gunners and Kieran Tierney's exit has been confirmed. But there is more work to do for Arsenal. Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours from around the Emirates. Sesko's agent speaks out Benjamin Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic has denied putting pressure on RB Leipzig to lower their asking price for the striker. Arsenal are understood to have agreed personal terms with Sesko but the Bundesliga side still want a significant fee - thought to be north of £60million. Basanovic rejected any notion that he would attempt to force Leipzig's hand. 'This is far from truth!" he told Givemesport. "We respect RB Leipzig and I am 100% convinced RB Leipzig will also respect our decision for the next step when we decide to do it." He added: "Even if there may be - or will be - a strong desire of the player to move to a certain club, we will never force or blackmail RB Leipzig. I believe this is not the right way, because the way you actually exit from the club shows your values. Values that you are bringing into a new club. ‌ "I can understand in very big transfers, there are a lot of different interests but no matter what, I believe in football world should be more respect. So that's why we do things in the right way or we don't do them. It's very simple, even maybe in the media it looks very complicated." Williams nears transfer Spain star Nico Williams has agreed on a six-year contract with Barcelona, according to reports. The Athletic Bilbao winger looks set to depart this summer and has drawn interest from Bayern Munich and Arsenal in addition to the Catalan club. Barca are said to have offered a salary in the region €7m-8m (£6m-7m) but have not yet agreed a deal with their La Liga rivals. Williams has a release clause in the region of £50m but the Spanish champions have not agreed a financial package with Bilbao. ‌ Partey negotiations Thomas Partey looks set to leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the month. The midfielder was in negotiations over extending his stay at the club but talks are now at a standstill, per ESPN. The former Atletico Madrid ace has drawn interest from Turkey and been linked with a move to Barcelona. Partey, 32, has played for Arsenal 167 times since joining the club in October 2020. Arsenal mull a move for ANOTHER Premier League rival's star - but could face competition from Chelsea and Tottenham

Arsenal are believed to have discussed Mohammed Kudus at West Ham as a potential transfer target, as have Chelsea and Tottenham. The Gunners are keen to bolster their attacking ranks during the summer transfer window, with a number of strikers and forwards linked with the north London side. Alexander Isak, who features for the club's Premier League rivals Newcastle, was thought to be one of Arsenal's long-range targets, but appears set to stay on Tyneside. The club has also been linked to Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokores, with the Swedish goalscoring behemoth believed to be interested in a move to the Premier League, but frustrated by his current side's unwillingness to let him depart for anything less than his £84million release clause. Other names linked to the club include RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, and Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins. But Mikel Arteta 's side could yet look closer to home for additional firepower, with the forward the focus of interest from a range of Premier League rivals. The Ghana international was a bright spot amid a difficult season at the London Stadium, registering five goals and a further four assists across his 35 appearances in all competitions. But the star comes with a hefty release clause should any side look to secure his services. Amid links to Saudi Arabian sides at the start of the summer, it was revealed that clubs might have to fork out £85m. Arsenal are also thought to be interested in Chelsea star Noni Madueke, with Mail Sport reporting that the winger could be likely to fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge as the club continues to recruit heavily. Former Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap kicked off the Blues' summer spending with his £30m deal ahead of the Club World Cup, with Enzo Maresco also drafting in Mamadou Sarr from sister club Strasbourg, and Dario Essugo from Sporting Lisbon.

‘Thank you for being an incredible coach'

Arsenal assistant coach Carlos Cuesta has taken to social media to say his goodbyes ahead of taking over the vacant managerial role at Parma. The 29-year-old is set to become the youngest manager in the Italian top flight this century, and second-youngest in history, when he completes his move to the Italian side, who finished in 16th in Serie A last season. Advertisement Cuesta will be replacing Chrstian Chivu, who guided the Yellow and Blues to survival before taking over at Inter following the departure of Simone Inzaghi. In a post on his Instagram, Cuesta spoke of his gratitude of working at the Gunners since being brought to the club by Mikel Arteta in 2020 after stints at Atletico Madrid and Juventus. 'After five beautiful years it's hard to put this into words, but I can only express how grateful I am for having lived my day-to-day with such special people and feel what it means to represent this football club, with its incredible history and values,' Cuesta said. 'The only thing I've ever tried to do was give everything I had inside of me every single day. I was inspired by the culture that was created, by the hunger of every person of the organisation and by the unity that we had in any situation that we had to face. 'It has been a privilege to have had the chance to work with the players, staff, directors and all the employees of the club and at the same time, to receive an extra push from our amazing fans in every match.' Advertisement Cuesta followed this up with a second post thanking Arteta for his 'trust' during their five years together in north London. 'And then, to the person that made it happen. Thank you. That's the only thing I can say,' he added. 'Thank you for your trust, for giving me the opportunity to be next to you and for showing me with constant facts which is the meaning of the word 'courage'. 'But more than that, thank you for being an incredible coach, an incredible leader, and an even better human being. 'It has been a true privilege to learn from you, to feel your support in any circumstance and to share the ups and downs of the journey always seeing the positive side of it. You've taught me a lot, and I will carry it always with me. 'From the bottom of my heart, thank you.'
