Early Prime Day deals include the 8BitDo Micro gamepad for only $17
Amazon Prime Days begins again on July 8, but early deals are already starting to trickle out. For instance, the 8BitDo Micro gamepad is on sale for just $17. This is a record-low price and represents a discount of 33 percent. However, the deal only applies to the green colorway. The Micro is a Bluetooth controller designed for the Nintendo Switch and Android devices, but it should also integrate with gadgets like the Steam Deck and iPhones. The company has released a firmware update for Switch 2 compatibility, so that should work too. We've tested other 8BitDo controllers with Nintendo's new console and came away impressed. This is a record-low price. $17 at Amazon This is an extremely tiny gamepad that still manages to pack in 16 buttons. It's a near-perfect way to play retro-tinged 2D platformers. Did we mention it's small? This thing will easily fit in a pocket or just about anywhere else. The company wasn't kidding around when they named it Micro. There's one caveat. The diminutive size of the 8BitDo Micro doesn't allow for actual joysticks and there's no haptic engine for rumble or anything like that. This isn't the best controller for brand-new AAA games. The microcar sports a 17bhp e-motor and can reach a top speed of 56mph. Spiaggina comes in two colours, reminiscent of Italian seaside towns - Portofino Blue and Sardinia Sage. If you'd like to enjoy a sea breeze during your drive, the quadricycle can lose its rear and side windows while the canvas roof can be removed entirely. The minuscule EV is equipped with a front-opening door and externally mounted headlights as well as a trunk. Inside, it features a simplistic but elegant design with vegan leather seats in a two-tone colour. The seat material is the same as the one often used in sailing yachts which means it's moisture-resistant too. With a 10.5kWh battery, the Spiaggina can survive up to 110 miles without recharge. Once out of juice, it only takes four hours at a home socket to regain its battery entirely. Microlino will also offer Cool and Connect package which includes a climate control system, a smartphone holder and a Bluetooth speaker. Iconic 90s Ferrari Jeremy Clarkson dubbed the 'greatest car in the world, ever' up for sale for eye-watering price The price for the Cool and Connect package is yet to be revealed. But The Spaggiana in its mid-range spec is currently available for £21,377. It comes after the Swiss firm's micro motors hit the UK streets last year. The manufacturer also plans to partner with major city authorities such as Transport for London to bring entire fleets of Microlinos to be hired, just like electric scooters and bicycles. Swiss inventor Wim Ouboter started creating Micro Scooters 25 years ago and transformed the way people get around. Since 1997, Ouboter's family-owned Micro Mobility Systems business has sold more than 50 million scooters in 30 varying models and generated over £600m.

DOSM: Average Malaysian salary grew to RM3,332 in 2022, but disparity across sectors and skills persists
KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 — The average monthly salary and wages of Malaysian employees stood at RM3,332 in 2022, reflecting an annual growth rate of 3.7 per cent as compared to RM2,590 in 2015, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) has revealed. According to the Economic Census 2023 Employment and Salaries & Wages Statistics report released today, those employed in the mining and quarrying sectors earned the highest monthly wages at RM9,422 in 2022 (2015: RM7,980). This was followed by the manufacturing (RM3,513), services (RM3,493), and construction (RM2,536) sectors — all reflecting steady wage growth since 2015. The agriculture sector remained the lowest-paid, with average monthly wages at RM1,827 in 2022, compared to RM1,463 in 2015. In terms of skill levels, semi-skilled workers made up the majority of full-time employees in 2022, comprising 59.8 per cent or 5.6 million of the total full-time paid workforce of 8.6 million. Skilled workers accounted for 22.3 per cent, recording a 3.1 per cent annual growth rate since 2015, while low-skilled workers made up 17.9 per cent of the workforce with a 3.5 per cent annual growth rate. Average monthly salaries for skilled workers stood at RM6,967 in 2022 (2015: RM6,277), reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.5 per cent. Semi-skilled workers earned RM2,548 in 2022 (2015: RM1,832), with a CAGR of 4.8 per cent, while low-skilled workers saw their wages rise to RM1,798 (2015: RM1,280), with a CAGR of 5 per cent. Geographically, the workforce remained heavily concentrated in Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, and Johor — which together accounted for 56 per cent of the national total in 2022. By establishment size, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) continued to dominate employment in the services sector, with 6.5 million people employed in 2022. In contrast, large enterprises employed 3.5 million people, or 34.8 per cent of the workforce. Within MSMEs, 70.2 per cent of employees were engaged in the services sector, particularly in wholesale and retail trade, as well as food and beverage subsectors. 'The salaries and wages gap between MSMEs and large enterprises in Malaysia remained substantial, reflecting structural differences in scale and productivity. 'Workers in large enterprises earned on average 47.5 per cent more than those in MSMEs. 'Average monthly salaries and wages of employees in large enterprises stood at RM4,145, compared with RM2,810 in MSMEs,' the report stated. Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the report offered a clear snapshot of the nation's labour landscape. 'A deeper understanding towards labour cost and employment patterns is key to inclusive growth development and uplifting the nation's competitiveness,' he said.
