Kerry nurse wins major award at Tallaght University Hospital
These annual staff awards recognise employees who go above and beyond in their dedication, service, and leadership. Since the awards were launched in 2019, they have honoured exceptional individuals/teams across the hospital, highlighting their contributions to excellence in healthcare and support to their colleagues. These most recent winners were celebrated at a special awards ceremony held in the hospital's Centre for Learning & Development. Their families and colleagues gathered to recognise their achievements and contributions. Michelle is former student of the Presentation Secondary School in Listowel and along with her nursing colleague Clodagh Glynn frim Kildare, she won the Teamwork Award. Both Michelle and Clodagh are both Lung Cancer Nurse Coordinators at the Hospital. The colleague who nominated then for the Teamwork Award said: 'I am proud to nominate Michelle and Clodagh in recognition of their outstanding commitment, collaboration, and service to the lung cancer service over the past 20 years. Working in a non-designated cancer centre, they have provided a lung cancer service equivalent to that of larger, designated centres. 'What sets them apart is not only their resilience and professionalism under pressure, but their drive to improve the system itself. They embody the essence of teamwork — consistently supporting each other, sharing responsibilities seamlessly, and demonstrating a quiet, sustained excellence that has earned them the deep respect of colleagues across disciplines. They are the definition of a high-functioning team and have had an immeasurable impact on patient care, staff morale, and the reputation of our service.'

EastEnders legend reveals emotional reaction to Zoe Slater's return
EastEnders favourite Jessie Wallace has revealed she cried upon learning that Michelle Ryan would be returning to the BBC soap. It's been a busy old week in Walford, with Zoe Slater making a grand return after 20 years away. It's something which Jessie has called for quite some time, and yet the two actresses didn't share any screen time in the last few episodes. Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) had reached out to Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) to tell him that a wayward Zoe had moved in with her, and was overspending on her credit card. Zoe fabricated texts from Spanish loansharks, implying that they were trying to hunt her down and hurt her. Just as Stace' and Alfie grappled with her lies, Kat burst into the flat and her estranged daughter hid in the bedroom. To evade being caught, she climbed out of the window and fled the area for Barcelona – with Alfie following, telling his wife that he was going to Australia to care for younger brother Spencer (Christopher Parker). The huge week has been covered in a feature-length behind the scenes video – which can be viewed on the EastEnders YouTube channel now – and shows Michelle heading back to Elstree Studios for her first day of filming. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video We see her in her dressing room, which has been marked 'Sienna' to keep her identity a secret, and chatting with new executive producer Ben Wadey about his vision. She also sits down with Jessie, who is clearly elated to be with her co-star. 'So, Michelle is back after 20 years' she begins. 'I've missed her tremendously, I've missed her, working with her, the whole Kat and Zoe thing, you know, going back to, 'You ain't my mother,' 'Yes I am'. 'And when I found out Michelle was coming back, I cried. And then when we met up, I cried because I've missed you.' Jessie then states that it felt like being reunited with a child, and it's obvious that theres a lot of love in the Slater clan, who first appeared in 2000. 'Michelle's gone off and done great things, and I've gone off and done other things, but I always come back because I love it here,' she continued. 'I feel like it's my home. And now Michelle's back it's like having my daughter back again.' Wednesday's instalment marked the last time we'll see Zoe – for now. Alfie has headed to Barcelona, hoping to track her movements using the credit card payments. In his departure scenes, he promised an oblivious Kat that he'd bring her the 'best present ever' home from 'Australia'. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Michelle Obama leaves no chances to roast her husband, and this time with ‘not having a son'
On the latest episode of her podcast 'Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast' (formerly titled 'IMO'), the former first lady sat down with her brother Craig Robinson and radio personality Angie Martinez to reflect on parenting, masculinity, and what life might've looked like if she and former President Barack Obama had a son. 'You should've threw a boy in the mix,' Martinez said playfully, alluding to Michelle's two daughters, Malia and Sasha. But Michelle didn't skip a beat. 'I'm so glad I didn't have a boy,' she replied with a laugh. ALSO READ| Michelle Obama breaks silence on daughter Malia dropping her famous last name: 'Very sensitive' When Martinez asked why she never went for a third child, the 'Becoming' author quipped, 'Because he would've been a Barack Obama.' Martinez chimed in, 'Baby Barack — it would've been amazing!' 'Ooh, no, I would've felt for him,' she said. Her brother Craig added, 'She just borrowed our boys,' referencing his own children. Michelle agreed, saying, 'I got plenty.' 'I think Barack is just like you as a tremendous father, doing it in a lot of grandeur, right,' she added. Conveniently enough, the former First Lady's musings hinted at a possible obsession with the 32-year bond between her and Barack, which many speculated was in troubled waters. 'Teach [your son] about how to deal with the traffic stop, but also teach him how to communicate in a marriage and to be a listening father,' she expressed. Michelle also shared Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24, were young girls when their father became president, and they spent a huge portion of their growing up years inside the White House. 'I've loved every phase of parenting: I loved them when they were little babies, I loved them when they were walking and starting to talk, the teenage years were interesting in the White House,' Michelle said. Michelle Obama jokes she's glad she didn't have a son: 'He'd be a Barack'
US President Barack Obama gestures to himself as he and First Lady Michelle Obama await the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan, for a State Dinner at the White House, in Washington, September 25, 2015. PHOTO: REUTERS Former First Lady Michelle Obama sparked headlines during a candid conversation on the latest episode of her podcast 'IMO,' joking that she's 'glad' she didn't have a son — because he would have turned out just like her husband, Barack Obama. Speaking with her brother Craig Robinson and guest Angie Martinez, Obama said, 'I'm so glad I didn't have a boy. Because he would have been a Barack Obama. Ooh,' while shaking her head and smiling. Martinez laughed off the comment, calling the idea of a 'Baby Barack' amazing, but Michelle added, 'No, I woulda felt for him.' The conversation centered around parenting boys, with both Martinez and Robinson being parents to sons. Michelle, mother of Sasha and Malia, discussed the complexities of raising boys today, especially when it comes to teaching them how to communicate in relationships and navigate situations like traffic stops. Her comments come amid ongoing speculation about her 32-year marriage to the former president, with recent public appearances fueling rumors of strain. However, Michelle praised Barack's parenting in a recent episode with Bruce Springsteen, calling him a 'tremendous father.' The couple has been seen together in recent months on high-profile date nights in New York City and Washington, D.C., despite persistent divorce rumors. Michelle also revealed she's currently in therapy and is 'transitioning' into a new phase of her life. The 'Becoming' author's remarks blend humor with introspection, offering insight into her evolving identity as a mother, wife, and public figure.
