Kitchen Nightmares star Gordon Ramsay passed out as Ed Sheeran's music played during son's birth
Gordon Ramsay passed out when his son was born - as Ed Sheeran's songs played in the background. The 58-year-old TV chef was never in the delivery room for the births of his first four children - Megan, 26, fraternal twins Jack and Holly, 25, and 23-year-old Tilly - because his wife Tana Ramsay was adamant that she didn't want her husband to see her in the agony of labour, nor witness the realities of child birth. Gordon though was present when his son Oscar, six, came into the world as Tana was having their baby boy via caesarean section. But the Kitchen Nightmares star's moment of joy soon soon became a moment of panic when he feinted whilst holding the newborn, all to the soundtrack of Thinking Out Loud singer Sheeran. Appearing on the Smartless podcast, Gordon said: "Let's make one thing absolutely clear, my wife didn't want me in there. "First of all, she said, 'I want my mum and your mum in there, you're not going to see me in that state, that side of the curtain, get out of there.' That was her decision and I had to respect that decision. 'When I did final arrive in the theatre for our fifth baby I f****** collapsed like a wimp! I blacked out holding Oscar in the air. 'He was coming through the sun roof so there was a lot of commotion going on. They said, 'What do you want to listen to?' So I said, 'Can you play Ed Sheeran?' So they started playing Ed, they turned up the volume, I can hear all these noises, all of a sudden I see two more doctors dive in, I look to the floor and there was blood everywhere. They popped him out and then they came straight over to me and I went, 'Woah, woah, s***.' I sat back and I collapsed like a f****** idiot." Gordon and Tana - who also have son Jesse James, who was born in 2023 - are enjoying being parents to young children again to Oscar and his younger brother Jesse James, who was born in 2023. The three Michelin star chef has always tried to instil a work ethic in his older four children and not hand them everything on a plate just because they are fortunate enough to have wealthy parents. Gordon is very proud of the varied career paths each of his older children have taken, but he is a little disappointed that his daughter Tilly, who wants to be a chef, decided to be trained at Ireland's Ballymaloe Cookery School rather than at one of her father's restaurants. He said: "Balance is critical. Every time we were filming throughout the US the kids would come with us and then we were take them out of school two weeks early, and they put them back two weeks late, so we would do the filming schedules around the shooting schedules. 'It's a lot easier now, we had four amazing kids and then Tana and I has this crazy idea to go back for more. So there's quite a big gap. 'Megan, she's our eldest, she's 26, she's an incredible police officer back in London. Then we have the twins who are 25; Jack is a Royal Marines Commando, Holly is in to her fashion. And then there's Matilda, who is 23, who has just come back from culinary school, would you believe, a beautiful school called Ballymaloe. "I am a little bit miffed that she didn't ask me to train her and she's gone off elsewhere. She's seen the shows, that's the problem! 'You've got to give them the values, and instil those values, they can't depend on mum and dad."

General Motors unleashes 900kW Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X
American sports car claimed to go from 0 to 100km/h in under two seconds on its way to 375km/h. General Motors launched the eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 in 2024. And this proudly American-built machine had morphed into a mid-engine supercar producing 783kW of power and 1 120Nm of torque. This heady mix of power and torque came courtesy of a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 driving down to the rear wheels. Resulting in not only a wild ride but also laying claim to being America's most powerful production car. Enter Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X This week General Motors went a step further and unveiled the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X. And you guessed it, the 'X' stands for all-wheel drive. What you might have also seen coming in this era of electrification, is that this new Corvette ZRX1 is a hybrid. A high-voltage battery pack and electric motor now drives the front axle with the V8 left to still drive the rear axle. Being a hybrid means that the 1.9kWh battery does not require a plug to charge. All the charging takes place through regen when braking or deaccelerating. Just like on your Toyota Corolla Cross HEV. What is not anything like your Toyota Corolla Cross is the power output. The new Corvette ZRX1 has climbed to a crazy 920kW and 1 350Nm. Blink and it's gone Other little high-performance titbits you might want to know is that General Motors predict a 0-100 km/h time of under two seconds for the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X thanks to launch control and the new all-wheel drive configuration. Quarter mile racing is huge in the US. This is where the motor manufacturers seek the biggest bragging rights over there. And here General Motors claim that the Corvette ZR1X will get across the line in under nine seconds at a speed of around 240km/h. Just in case you are looking to go to jail forever, the claimed top speed is 375km/h. That is true hyper car territory. As to be expected, with great power comes great responsibility, and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X comes standard with huge 10-piston front and six-piston carbon ceramic brakes. Two magnetic ride control chassis configurations are available. ALSO READ: Mid-ship Chevrolet Corvette Z06 debuts with 500kW Hope for local fans The standard chassis comes with Michelin PS4S tyres and is more for everyday driving. The ZTK Performance Package offers higher spring rates and Michelin's Pilot Cup 2R tyres, for the more track-day orientated buyer. You can also add their high-downforce Carbon Aero package to a standard chassis of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X. This adds the likes of dive planes, underbody strakes, a hood lip over the front heat extractor and a rear wing. This package is said to be capable of over 500kg of downforce at top speed and comes standard on ZTK-equipped cars. Before you roll your eyes and think this will be another model that will never make it to Mzansi in right-hand-drive (RHD), think again. A partnership between Durban-based Rospa International and Autogroup International means that rides like these are very possible to reach us in RHD.

Dad shares eye-watering bill after taking family for breakfast at Disneyland
A dad could not believe the price he was charged for dining at Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures, at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, earlier this month A dad "almost spat out" his coffee when he was handed an eye-watering bill after going out for breakfast with his family at Disneyland. John Tolkien shared a snap of the nearly $1,000 receipt on social media after his family's breakfast at Disneyland California. The Disneyland Princess Breakfast totalled $937.65 for three children and two adults, which included a $150 tip — just over 20% of the original amount. ''Princess Breakfast' at Disneyland with my kids,' John wrote on X. 'Almost spit out my coffee.' The post has been viewed more than 16 million times on the social media platform, with thousands of users expressing their horror at the cost. Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures is offered at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa.. Prices start at $142, with the Disneyland website stating: "Treat your child to an unforgettable 3-course breakfast and enchanting encounters with some favorite Disney Princesses." It adds: "Dreams come true in the Trillium Room inside Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, where you'll be served a sumptuous three-course breakfast. Kids can let their imaginations soar during one-of-a-kind Princess-themed activities. "Upon arrival, Disney Princesses are waiting to greet you and share in your hopes and dreams prior to taking a photo on a beautiful private patio. You may take part in storytime with Belle or learn some fierce warrior poses with Mulan." Guests enjoy a three-course breakfast, with tiered appetizer towers including lobster rolls, beignets and cornbread. Children can enjoy mains like chicken and waffles and macaroni and cheese. Adults can choose from scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, deviled eggs and braised short ribs. The restaurant serves a selection of desserts, including cake pops, sorbet and macarons. Following John's post on social media about the breakfast, thousands of people shared their views on the pricing. 'Please tell me you have 35 kids,' one person commented. Another wrote: 'That's ridiculous. So torn about going to Disney — could literally go to Italy for a month for the same amount.' A third said: "This is one of those moments I'm not tipping a single penny, and you can all call me a monster for it." A fourth commented: "The restaurant saw you coming from a mile away, huh? Poorly plated food sold at premium prices. You could have eaten at a 3 star Michelin restaurant for cheaper." Appearing to see the funny side, John replied to his original post: "I'll just take a gas station burrito & sugar-free Red Bull and hang onto the remaining… $930." The dad later added: "Service was attentive and enthusiastic, princesses were all trained pro-actresses and spent a lot of time with the kids. I enjoyed it."
