Perth marine biologist debuts surf brand on US runway

A Perth shark biologist is adding a splash of colour to swimwear. Amanda Elizabeth's Bolde Wetsuits were paraded on the catwalk at Miami Swim Week recently, with her two collections drawing inspiration from the ocean's vibrant colours. 'We live on such an incredibly diverse coastline — there is never any shortage of inspiration,' Elizabeth said. 'Sharing a piece of Perth with an American audience is not just about geography — it's about showcasing the natural beauty of our marine environment and wildlife through my designs.' She said she had got fed up wearing boring black wetsuits that made divers look like a seal to predators, so set about designing something a bit more exciting from eco-friendly Japanese limestone neoprene. Since Bolde made its debut in Miami, Elizabeth has received supportive feedback about how her pieces have made women feel more comfortable, powerful and confident. 'That kind of reaction is exactly why I do what I do. It is so important to me that women know there is a wetsuit that is specifically for them,' she said. Bolde has recently expanded the brand's size range to include sizes 6-20. The range includes 3mm and 5mm steamers, bikini-cut and short-leg spring suits, wetsuit jackets, and accessories like silicone snorkel sets and fins. Hot Girl Season Is Activated Thanks To Megan Thee Stallion & Her Itty Bitty Brown Bikini

Source: Frazer Harrison / Getty Hot girl summer has officially begun. And the forecast says there is a 100% chance Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston-bred raptress just broke the internet – again – after dropping a set of sizzling beach photos that we love on Instagram. Megan is the heat wave. Period. In recent pics, our good Sis is living her soft, sun-drenched life—posing effortlessly on somebody's beach with nothing but blue skies and good vibes surrounding her. But let's be real: no one's looking at the vibes. All eyes are on Megan's jaw-dropping body, melanin-rich glow, and brown, barely-there bikini that is giving everything it needs to give. Sis is sexy, snatched, and slaying. The chocolate-toned two-piece hugs every curve and highlight of her hourglass frame. It features a gold accent in the center of the top and thin, high-cut straps highlighting her toned waist and cakes. It's giving bronzed goddess meets Texas baddie. But Megan didn't stop there—she tops off her beach look with a straw cowboy hat. Her long, jet-black beachy waves flow freely from the shade-giving accessory. Megan's nails were just as flawless as her fit. ( Spoiler Alert: Megan added a close up of them on the last picture of her June 16 carousel post. ) The 'HISS' rapper and known nail queen went full-on wild with a fierce tiger-striped animal print manicure, filed to long and sharp perfection. The set blends gold, amber, and black for a vibe that screams bold summer glam. While Megan Thee Stallion's bikini Instagram post may look like a casual beach flex, it doubles as the perfect promo moment for her latest business move: her Hot Girl Summer swimwear collaboration with Walmart. The rapper debuted pieces from the line during her runway appearance at Miami Swim Week, reminding us that she doesn't just rap about body confidence—she lives it, markets it, and sells it, too. The line features affordable, inclusive swim options for all body types, curated with Megan's own bold and sexy aesthetic in mind. From the beach to the runway to the store, Megan Thee Stallion is that girl. She's showing fans that Hot Girl Summer has officially begun – and it's time we fell in line. Rugby star Ilona Maher loved the chicken tenders at this Miami ‘strip club'

Ya gotta eat. Ilona Maher worked up quite an appetite while in town posing for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit's show at the W during Miami Swim Week. So, where did the rugby champ get fortified? The last time she was in the 305 she tucked in to cuisine at beloved South of Fifth institution, Joe's Stone Crab. This trip, Maher ended up eating chicken tenders late night at a strip club, the bronze medalist revealed on the most recent episode of 'The House of Maher' podcast. When her two sisters/cohosts gave her heat about chowing down on a plate of fried food while everyone else around them was partying, Maher shut them down. 'I was hungry,' she said, adding, 'Here's the deal: I've actually learned you can trust chicken in these places. Seriously!' The name of the locale they patronized was not named, but the Vermont natives mentioned the entertainment included aerial shows, a fog machine and women dancing, um, seductively. They also mentioned that there was another club across the street that specializes in electronica music and doesn't get going until 6 a.m. That sounds like Space in downtown. So that led us to deduce the trio was at 24/7 hotspot E11Even, which bills itself as an ultraclub, thank you, not a strip club. We reached out to the reps, who confirmed that Maher was indeed there in the early hours of June 1. So were fellow guests, SI Swim models Olivia Dunn, Alix Earle and Bethenny Frankel. P.S. A scan of E11Even menu shows the tenders are $23, and served with a side of fries and a few dipping sauces. Despite not eating, Maher's sisters had a blast, literally. '[There] was this cold, foggy air and they blasted it at us and it went on for like 15 seconds,' Olivia explained of the special effects. 'You couldn't see a thing,' Adrianna chimed in. 'It was kind of exhilarating.'

Jordan Chiles Swears By Those $14.50 Acne Patches, Too

All linked products are independently selected by our editors. If you purchase any of these products, we may earn a commission. She's a two-time Olympian, Miami Swim Week model, bestselling author — and now, Jordan Chiles is adding beauty ambassador to her already impressive list of accomplishments. The 24-year-old gymnast is the new face of Hero Cosmetics, the viral skincare brand best known for its Mighty Patch hydrocolloid stickers. Chiles, who was part of the gold-medal winning US women's gymnastics team at the 2024 Summer Olympics, has been open about her skin journey, including hyperpigmentation, texture, and breakouts. Chiles is buzzing with energy when we sit down over Zoom to chat about the new partnership. 'People always ask me, 'What do you do for your skincare?' So I was really happy Hero wanted me to be one of their ambassadors,' she exclusively tells Refinery29. 'Whether it's dark spots or a pimple that's coming up and I want it gone, I've always loved Mighty Patch.' In addition to her out-of-this-world strength, artistry, and athleticism, Chiles has also authentically shown up as herself via her competition glam; strong brows, fluttery lashes, glowy skin, and medal-worthy nail art all figured heavily in her most epic Olympic moments. As she tells me, beauty has always been something she's passionate about. 'My older sister, who is my hair and makeup artist, definitely gave me a perspective of understanding that glam is something to enjoy, have fun with, and be creative,' she says. Chiles swears by a less-is-more approach to keeping her sensitive skin looking and feeling its best. 'A majority of the time, I only use a good cleanser, an exfoliator, and then a nice, silky moisturiser,' she says. 'I keep it very simple, but make sure everything is hydrated and my skin looks good and glowy.' When it comes to favourite products, Chiles lights up talking about being 'down bad' (same, girl) for Hero. 'I have Mighty Patches in every bag, my car, my room, and probably in five different bathrooms,' she says. Her favourites? 'Literally all of them, but since I go to practice a lot, [I love] the invisible ones and the dark spot ones with the prickly points.' We also bonded over a shared underrated Hero fave: the Pore Purity Cleansing Clay Mask, made with glacial sea clay and sea kelp bio-ferment to decongest skin. 'It makes my face so soft — I love it,' Chiles says. 'I've been recently using it two to three times a week to get my pores in the right way and all that stuff.' For Chiles, this partnership — which includes brand campaigns, social content, and live events — is anything but skin deep. 'I have [acne] scars here and there, but now I'm finally at a point where I'm positive with myself and my skin,' she says. 'Literally, it took me 22 years to finally be like, look, Jordan, you're a gorgeous girl. You have beautiful skin. Embrace that.'
