Zamnesia And Method Man Release Eight Seeds In Europe And U.S.

Method Man's TICAL and Zamnesia are launching eight new cannabis genetics in the U.S. and Europe ... More markets. The lure of home growing is encouraging people to seek out higher quality seeds. U.S. retailer Zamnesia, which originally operated in Europe as an online smartshop, recently announced a partnership with TICAL, the cannabis brand founded by Method Man. They're launching eight exclusive cannabis seed genetics in the U.S. and in Europe, and the timing's right: According to Allied Market Research, the global cannabis seeds market is projected to reach $6.5 billion by 2031, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.4% from 2022 to 2031, with specialty stores leading the way. The collaboration and international seed launch will include the following strains: 'I don't put my name on just anything,' Method Man stated. 'These TICAL seeds? Handpicked, perfected, and ready to rep real flavor across borders. Big love to Zamnesia…for showing up and showing love.' TICAL (Taking Into Consideration All Lives) is Method's Man's realization of moving into the legal side of cannabis years ago, after a lifetime of smoking. It's also named after his 1994 solo album. Zamnesia launched in 2012 in Europe as an e-commerce retailer before entering markets in the U.S. The European and U.S. markets are fundamentally different in terms of the law, and it's something that makes this endeavor unique. 'Honestly, the biggest difference is how out in the open things are in the U.S.,' Zamnesia General Manager Nick Avé told Forbes. 'Cannabis culture there has grown up alongside legalization, so you get these bold brands, celebrity-led product lines and a lot of storytelling. It's very forward-facing, very visible. There's a confidence and openness about it that's become part of the identity.' They believe this launch will reach over 350,000 cannabis customers, combining Method Man's name with Zamnesia's established know-how in seeds and home cultivation. Smartshops thrive in the Netherlands, selling seeds online, though recent moves have pushed towards a more strict approach towards certain substances. 'In Europe, it's been more under the radar,' Avé explained. 'Places like the Netherlands have had coffee shops for years, but that's tolerance, not full legalization. Still, things are changing. With countries like Germany stepping forward on reform, we're seeing a real cultural shift. People here are getting more curious, more educated and more adventurous in how they approach cannabis. At Zamnesia, we see a lot of interest in quality, education and things like home cultivation and microdosing. It's a different vibe that feels more personal, maybe even more intentional.' As the global cannabis seed market soars, the specialty stores segment shows the fastest growth. 'I think we're heading into a really exciting time,' Avé said. 'Cannabis is becoming a global language, and collabs are going to play a big part in that. When we team up with a brand like TICAL, we're not just putting a name on a product. We're bringing together different parts of the culture. TICAL brings deep roots from the U.S., with all the legacy, music and real-world experience that comes with it. Zamnesia brings our European reach and a different kind of credibility, one that spans not just cannabis but also psychedelics, education and alternative living." North America continues to dominate the cannabis seeds market, with the lion's share of sales, mostly due to ongoing decriminalization measures at the state level. But seed sellers quickly adapt to the differences. 'These partnerships help bridge gaps,' Avé added. "They create moments that connect people in different countries who share the same values or curiosity. And they give us the chance to introduce audiences to new ideas and products, whether it's U.S. genetics in Europe or a more holistic, European-style approach to cannabis in the States. It's more than marketing in my opinion: it's cultural exchange." Avé explained that homegrowing has exploded in the U.S. thanks to legalization efforts. But in Europe, they're seeing a slightly different story. As far as Zamnesia is concerned, they're seen a surge in first-time growers. People on both continents have a genuine desire to learn how to grow quality cannabis at home where it is permitted, and that's where Zamnesia and Method Man's TICAL come into the picture.

‘Bad Shabbos' Review: Guess Who's Kvetching About Dinner?

Those who have attended a Shabbat dinner — which occurs on Friday and kicks off the Jewish Sabbath — know that the traditional greeting is 'good Shabbos.' The ensemble comedy 'Bad Shabbos' telegraphs its silliness right from the title. Directed by Daniel Robbins, the movie takes place over a disastrous dinner on the Upper West Side, where David (Jon Bass) and Meg (Meghan Leathers) — a newly engaged Jew and gentile — plan to introduce their parents for the first time. But before they can start, a disturbing prank by David's brother, Adam (Theo Taplitz), goes awry, causing an emergency that the family must hide from the Midwestern in-laws. The crisis involves a body and a ticking clock, as well as a zany, meddlesome doorman (Method Man, always welcome) added for good measure. 'Bad Shabbos' overflows with the kvetching, nagging and nit-picking endemic to the Jewish movie canon. It also contains an overused trope: the domineering Jewish mother harboring animus toward her son's shiksa fiancée. Despite Meg's efforts to connect, Ellen (Kyra Sedgwick) repeatedly slights her future daughter-in-law. Ellen's flat sitcom character finds a match in some of the movie's aesthetic choices, like the framing and the pizzicato strings making up its score. These style elements can feel grating. But as the jokes continue to land and the wine continues to flow, you grow used to the tone. This is, after all, a situational comedy, in which the laughs spring from reaction shots and line deliveries. Luckily, the actors prove up to the task.
