FBI Offers $20,000 Reward Over Arizona Woman's Mysterious Death

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is offering a $20,000 reward for information regarding the suspicious death of Adrienne Celeste Salinas, who went missing and was later found deceased in 2013. Salinas' death has now remained a mystery for more than 12 years, as she was reported missing on June 16, 2013. Investigators still have no leads on why she was killed, or who did it. FBI The Context Salinas' death is being brought back to the public's attention by the FBI's Case of the Week which highlights unsolved crimes. What To Know According to the FBI, on the night of June 14, 2013, Salinas was at a birthday party for a friend at her residence in Tempe, Arizona. Salinas, who was 19 years old at the time, was at the party until the early hours of the morning on June 15. She then briefly left the party before returning to talk to her housemate. At approximately 4 a.m. she left the party again, but was involved in a car accident nearby soon after. According to the FBI, she then returned to her apartment to get changed, but was not seen by anyone there. However, according to People magazine, Salinas called a cab immediately after abandoning her car. Both the FBI and People journalists state that she called a cab to take her to her boyfriend's apartment, and a driver told police she had called him to confirm her pickup location was a convenience store close to her home. However, when the driver arrived at the location, nobody was there and all calls to Salinas' phone went to voicemail. According to witnesses, she was driving erratically to her boyfriend Francisco "Fran" Arteaga's house after being upset about the way he was acting at the party. Her car, a 2002 Mercury Sable, was found abandoned. Her body was found behind a home in Apache Junction, Arizona, on August 6. Despite 12 years of investigations and being the subject of countless true crime documentaries, police still do not know how she got there, or who was involved in her death. One theory from local investigators is that infamous "Phoenix Canal Murderer" Bryan Patrick Miller was involved in her death, as he was known to be at a party nearby to hers on the night of her disappearance. Miller told journalist Briana Whitney "I had no knowledge of the case and still don't know much about it." What People Are Saying Rick Salinas, Adrienne Salinas' father, told the FBI in 2013: "Adrienne was a young girl that was very beautiful inside and out. She deserves justice." Tempe Police Homicide Detective Alan Akey said in 2013: "They are grieving. They want answers. They want to know what happened to their baby girl." What Happens Next In remains to be seen if the prospect of a $20,000 reward results in more information regarding her disappearance and death. Woman, juvenile charged after flag stolen from Walk of Heroes in Troutman
A juvenile and a woman were charged for allegedly stealing a flag from the Walk of Heroes display on the Richardson Greenway, police in Troutman said. ALSO READ: Bond approved for new high school in Iredell County The theft was reported on Sunday. Witnesses said suspects in a green Mercury Sable stole one of the flags. The Troutman Walk of Heroes Facebook page shows U.S. flags lining a walkway. The juvenile is facing misdemeanor larceny. Officers have requested a juvenile petition for the suspect. The 38-year-old woman was charged with aiding and abetting misdemeanor larceny and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Law roundup: Firebug threatens to blow up building
May 11—A man reportedly "freaking out" and playing with a lighter, at a gas station, lit a cigarette and threatened to blow up the building. A semi transporting fuel would not do anything until the potential hazard was gone. The man extinguished the cigarette on his skin and got into a gray Chevy Blazer driven by a woman.. A man whose wallet was stolen out of his truck in Evergreen allegedly traced one of the stolen cards to a store in the mall. He called the store, and an employee described the alleged thief as a 30-year-old man with shoulder-length hair, wearing a "Rolling Stones" hat, tank top and shorts. Mall security said the man got on a bicycle and rode away. The man told the Kalispell Police Department his cards had been used at a big box store and a hardware store. Someone in a beat-up black colored BMW with no license plates allegedly swiped a gas jug from a landscaper out working and sped away. Someone reportedly drove by a man sleeping on a park sidewalk with his hoodie covering his face and started shouting at him. When he didn't respond, they called the police to check on him. He was fine and did not need assistance. A passerby called the police after reportedly seeing an elderly man speeding through town, where school children and school buses were active in the area, and thought it was dangerous. The man allegedly said he sped up to make a light but slowed down by the time he reached a residential area. He was counseled by the police. A man with bleached hair was allegedly told to leave a gas station store several times, yet he kept making unrequested encores. A greenish Mercury Sable, a gray PT Cruiser and a brownish Dodge van were reportedly abandoned in a thrift store parking lot, and an employee called police wanting to find the owners and have them moved. Officers warned another driver about speeding when they were allegedly going 35 mph in a 25 mph zone.

Jury shown evidence from the day of Megan McDonald's murder; defense attorney calls it 'parade'
Prosecutors in the Edward Holley murder trial spent extensive time during the first week laying out the circumstances around the discovery of Megan McDonald's body. Holley, a former boyfriend of McDonald, is accused of murdering her in March 2003. He has pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder. The jury was shown numerous photos of McDonald's white Mercury Sable, which was found at Kensington Manor in the Scotchtown area of the town of Wallkill — 470 feet from where Holley lived at the time — on March 14, 2003. Retired New York State Police investigators Timothy Zeszutek and Joseph Barrett walked prosecutors through those photos, which showed numerous blood stains on the inside and outside of the car, including on the driver's seatbelt, which was hanging out the closed door. Barrett said no usable latent fingerprints were found on the car. A cigar butt was found in the ashtray with a mixture of DNA from McDonald and Paul Simpson, who was previously in a relationship with her. David Voelker, a resident of Kensington Manor who saw the Sable parked there while walking his dog on the morning of March 14, called its presence suspicious. Prosecutors and investigators believe McDonald was killed sometime in the early morning hours of March 14, although her body was not discovered in a field off Bowser Road in Wallkill until March 15. Barrett said he was assigned to go to that location around 3 p.m. on March 15. Around 10 p.m., he went to McDonald's residence, in a basement apartment of a ranch house on Karen Drive, to see if it might be a crime scene. It was not. One of the last things McDonald was known to have done was make a deposit at the HSBC on Route 211 in Middletown. Jurors were shown surveillance camera images from just after 3:30 p.m. on March 13. Representatives from Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and Frontier Communications testified to the authenticity of phone records that the Orange County District Attorney's office had subpoenaed at the time of McDonald's murder. Those records are no longer in those company's computer systems, as such records are usually purged after a year or two. DOT study: NY may consider safety improvements at Rosendale intersection where pedestrian was killed The relationship of those phone records to the case was not explained at the time of their testimony. In opening statements, Laura Murphy, one of two special prosecutors, recounted how McDonald was found with multiple fractures to the back of her head, bleeding from the brain, a fractured jaw, multiple bruises on her body, a chipped tooth and broken fingernails. She said Holley has told false stories to police of his whereabouts during the time McDonald disappeared and was being murdered. She told the jury the prosecution's case will convince them to find Holley guilty of murder. Lead defense attorney Paul Weber, however, told jurors not to "fall for the parade" of witnesses the prosecution will call, and urged them to judge evidence based on quality, not quantity. Weber said state police did not become focused on Holley until 2017, while rejecting other suspects. He claimed state police to this day are still trying to get evidence against Holley. Car crashes into front of Fayette County day care
A car slammed into the front of a day care in Fayette County Monday morning. Pennsylvania State Police said troopers were dispatched to Hopwood Child Care on Hopwood Fairchance Road around 8 a.m. Troopers said that when they arrived on scene, they found a gold Mercury Sable in the parking lot with front-end damage, as well as damage to the outside of the building. According to state police, video surveillance shows the car entering the parking lot at a slow speed and then accelerating into the building. The 81-year-old driver and passenger were not injured.
