Demi Lovato Goes Full Showgirl for Her Vegas Bachelorette Party

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." Surprise! Demi Lovato not only had a beautiful wedding, but she had a pretty epic bachelorette party, too. A week after marrying her now-husband Jordan Lutes, AKA 'Jutes' and sharing photos from their lavish California ceremony, Lovato gave fans a glimpse inside another one of her pivotal wedding events: her bachelorette party. In a recent Instagram post, the star documented the time that she and her friends spent in Las Vegas ahead of her Memorial Weekend nuptials. Naturally, the then-bride-to-be dressed for the occasion by sporting a white silk minidress with flouncy, feather-trimmed sleeves from Lapointe. The carousel featured clips and images of the singer posing in her bridal-inspired frock while taking selfies with her friends. In the caption, Lovato wrote: 'Bach party day/night one (not nearly enough pictures were taken 😭).' Of course, new husband Lutes commented on the post, writing, 'Ya right ur my wife.' Lovato also shared a reel from the bachelorette, which saw her strutting across a hotel room with her friends following right behind her, as they all took part in a funny social media trend. The 'Sorry Not Sorry' singer captioned the reel: '2 Fridays ago when I was still a [fiancée].' The former Disney star went all out for her Santa Barbara nuptials, wearing five different looks throughout the course of the weekend. For her ceremony, Lovato turned to Vivienne Westwood for an off-the-shoulder, corseted pearl white wedding dress. And while her weekend looks featured a selection of Westwood styles, the singer diverted from the dresses by including one silk suit look from Lapointe—the same brand the provided her feathery bachelorette mini. The Crowd: Emerson Classic nets more than $36K for SOY

Tennis has experienced a resurgence in popularity over recent years, with tournaments drawing big crowds around the globe. In Newport Beach over Memorial Weekend, one such smashing event welcomed 507 players on local courts for the inaugural Roy Emerson Tennis Classic benefiting SOY (Save Our Youth), a most worthy local nonprofit. Inspired by the philanthropy and community spirit of Britt Meyer in partnership with Australian tennis legend Roy Emerson (a 28-time Grand Slam Champion), the three-day, non-stop event was based at home court Palisades Tennis Club with generous support from club owners Eric and Joanie Davidson. In addition, matches were held at Costa Mesa Tennis Center, Mesa Verde Country Club and Newport Beach Tennis Club. On Monday, June 2, it all came together in final play. Organizers were tournament director Chris Garber, tournament director of tennis Drew Arbiter and Cameron Ball, who led the tournament committee that included Terri DeLong, Lori Ratzlaff, Samantha Wang, Adrienne Catrine, Lisa Stone, Ann Chatillon and other volunteers. 'My husband Bob and I are honored and delighted to support this very special community event that brings together so many of our friends and neighbors delivering the joy that tennis competition creates for all players on the courts,' stated presenting sponsor Britt Meyer. 'Best of all, having Roy and Joy Emerson and their daughter Heidi fronting the excitement added a significant touch of tennis history and legend to the inaugural tournament. When all was done and winners were lauded, the real winner was SOY and all the local families and children the organization serves in the community.' The proceeds, $36,200, were donated to SOY, which lends assistance to low-income, at-risk youth who are Newport-Mesa Unified School District students. SOY was founded in the early 1990s by concerned westside Costa Mesa parents who banded together as Madres de Costa Mesa, determined to guide their kids into higher education and responsible futures. According to SOY's mission statement, the nonprofit offers 'a safe and welcoming space for teens to find hope, to nourish a sense of self and an ability to grow and to develop interests and skills to become productive members of society.' Addressing the crowd at the closing party and echoing that sentiment was SOY Executive Director Mary Cappellini, who shared the microphone with the staff to congratulate all of the tournament's champions. The champions collected a total of $15,0000 in prize money donated by Eric and Joanie Davidson of Palisades Tennis Club. Tremendous credit for the success belongs to Britt and Bob Meyer and their company Meyer Natural Foods. Also front and center for the tournament and for SOY were Gene Rhodes, Pamela and John Blom, and Eric and Joanie Davidson. Others supporting the tournament were Ken Brodhagen, Gaby Lessard and Ziad Dahdul. As the trophies were awarded to the players during the closing party, the Madres de Costa Mesa praised the community for its generosity, saying tennis competition is a metaphor for hard work, dedication and perseverance in life leading to success. 'That's what the tournament is all about, making a difference in this community for others. We'll be back next year continuing to make that difference,' said Britt Meyer.

What we know about the conditions of the Mifflin Township officers who were shot

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Two Mifflin Township police officers were shot while conducting a traffic stop on Wednesday night on the northeast side, just outside of Columbus city limits. The officers were both rushed to the hospital. One was released from the hospital just a day after the shooting while the other has a long road to recovery. 'When bullets hit your body, it's not like the movies. A bullet hits your body and it completely destroys anything in its path,' Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #9 President Brian Steel said. One officer was shot in the arm and released from Grant Medical Center on Thursday, according to Steel. That officer will have to return to get surgery, but Steel said he is eager to get back to work. Suspect in fatal southeast Columbus shooting over Memorial Weekend arrested He said this shows the dedication of police officers, even after getting shot. 'The officers that were shot, they knew what they were doing. They knew there was a danger,' Steel said. 'They do that because the community is worth it and that's why they signed up for it.' The other officer was brought to Grant in critical condition, but Steel said he was changed to stable. 'He's alive by the grace of God, by the aid that was rendered by the medical staff at Grant. He is still with us. He's got a long road,' Steel said. 'I just ask your viewers to continue to pray for him. He is fighting.' Police officers from multiple jurisdictions were in and out of Grant Medical center on both Wednesday and Thursday. Mifflin Township Police Chief David Briggs said Columbus police and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office have been a great help during this tough time. 'They had two officers outside their rooms at all times. They had several officers downstairs in the lobby outside the emergency room everywhere to escort family and friends to where they needed to go. It was overwhelming support,' Briggs said. Steel said right now, the officers and their families need to focus on rest and recovery. 'You have emotional injuries you're going to have from these events. You're going to have physical injuries,' Steel said. 'Time will tell for both of them.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. What's open and closed on Memorial Day?

In what had long been celebrated every May 30 to honor America's fallen soldiers, Memorial Day officially became a federal holiday in 1971, observed on the last Monday in May. Businesses increasingly have chosen to stay open, leading to what is now one of the biggest retail sales and travel weekends of the year. Here's what is open and closed this year on Memorial Day: Government offices, post offices, courts and schools are closed. BANKS AND MARKETS U.S. stock markets and banks are closed Monday. Most FedEx and UPS pickup and delivery services will also not be available on Memorial Day, though some special services will be accessible. RETAILERS Warehouse membership club Costco will be closed on Memorial Day, but the vast majority of retailers will be open, with many trying to lure customers with big promotional sales. Hours may vary by location. TRAVEL Memorial Day is also considered the unofficial opening of the summer travel season. Americans are expected to get away in record numbers over the long Memorial Day weekend even as economic and technical worries rattle the U.S. travel industry. Auto club AAA projects that more than 45 million people — 1.4 million more than last year — will venture at least 50 miles from their homes between Thursday and Monday, with the vast majority going by car. The holiday's previous domestic travel record of 44 million people was set 20 years ago. AAA's fuel tracker shows motorists can expect to pay less for gasoline this year. The U.S. average price on Wednesday was $3.18 for a gallon of regular gas compared to $3.60 a year ago. AAA projects 39.4 million people will travel by car over the weekend — the highest number for that holiday since AAA began tracking it in 2000 — and that another 3.61 million people will travel by air, a nearly 2% increase over last year's 3.55 million. Air safety has been on the minds of travelers after a midair collision in January of a passenger jet and a U.S. Army helicopter above Washington, D.C. killed 67 people. There have also been some close calls. In recent weeks, flight delays and cancellations stemming from an air traffic controller shortage and equipment failures at a facility that directs aircraft in and out of the Newark, New Jersey, airport have also made some people reluctant to get on a plane.
