No change in schedule of Mega DSC: Andhra Pradesh govt

VIJAYAWADA: The State government has made it clear that the Mega DSC-2025 examination will be held as scheduled from June 6, dismissing the widespread demand on social media from aspirants for its postponement. In a statement issued on Friday, the School Education Department clarified that any delay in conducting the exam will jeopardise the future of 2.45 lakh candidates, and disrupt the academic year for lakhs of school students. The government reiterated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu signed the Mega DSC file on June 13, 2024, soon after assuming office as part of his commitment to strengthen the education system in the State, and fulfil the aspirations of unemployed youth. Under the leadership of HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, the government initiated the process to fill 16,347 teacher posts, and ensured that the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) was conducted transparently twice. The Mega DSC syllabus was uploaded on the official website in November 2024, giving aspirants more than six months to prepare for the exam. Responding to the aspirants' plea for over a 90-day preparation period post-notification, the government explained that the recruitment process was initiated with the issuance of GO No. 27 on June 13, 2024, and candidates were given ample time to qualify through two TETs.

Norms for reapportionment of teaching staff in State-run schools announced in A.P.

The government on Tuesday (May 13) issued guidelines for reapportionment of teaching staff across various managements for the restructured schools, detailing the allocation of teachers at different school levels such as Foundational Schools, Basic Primary Schools, Model Primary Schools, Upper Primary Schools and High Schools. According to GO (MS. No. 21), including the 13,192 posts notified under the Mega DSC-2025 and reapportionment of teaching staff, it was observed that all the districts have working surplus posts of School Assistants (SAs) and Secondary Grade Teachers (SGTs) in certain managements. Also certain districts have vacant surplus posts, while some other districts have deficits of posts in some managements. Accordingly, the Director of School Education submitted a proposal on conversion and creations of posts, which the government has approved. The government has given permission to the School Education department to convert 4706 School Assistant (SA) posts as Model Primary School Headmasters/School Assistants, to position working surplus SAs/SGTs and equivalent posts at the cluster-level to utilise their services as Cluster-Level Academic Teacher. Permission has also been accorded to convert 615 posts i.e. SAs (517/SGTs (98) and equivalent posts to needy posts within the same management, to create 3228 posts viz., 397 Grade-II Head Masters, 2709 School Assistants and 122 Secondary Grade Teachers posts by suppressing vacant surplus posts (3980) within the management or inter-management and adjusting 1311 posts from HoD pool. The department can also upgrade 779 Upper Primary Schools to that of High Schools, add 1902 vacant surplus posts in the districts (i.e. 362 School Assistants, 1540 Secondary Grade Teachers) in the cadre strength of the Director of School Education for future utilisation/allocation of these posts in case of deficit posts in any district.

Talks with tribal associations successful, bandh called off

Paderu (ASR District): Negotiations between ASR district collector AS Dinesh Kumar and various tribal associations demanding the implementation of G.O. Ms. No. 3 concluded successfully on Saturday. The tribal groups, who had been on strike for the past 24 hours demanding that vacancies in tribal areas be filled exclusively with tribal candidates, agreed to call off their bandh following two rounds of discussions held at the District Collectorate. The collector clarified that the Supreme Court had declared G.O. Ms. No. 3 as unconstitutional, necessitating a review and revision of the recruitment policies in agency areas post-verdict. He explained that the state government is currently reevaluating ways to ensure justice for tribal communities without violating the legal directives of the apex court. Referring to the recently announced Mega DSC-2025 for teacher recruitment, the Collector stated that reservations were allotted based on the general roster system due to the legal constraints following the Supreme Court judgment. He assured that the government is actively exploring alternate legal avenues to uphold the spirit of G.O. 3 and provide fair opportunities for tribal candidates in agency regions. District in-charge Minister Gummadi Sandhyarani had also reiterated the government's commitment to tribal welfare in a recent ITDA general body meeting and through a public video statement, he said. Additionally, Tribal Welfare Department Secretary MM Naik, currently touring Rampachodavaram, promised to take up the matter with the government and provide clarity within three to four days, the Collector added. In light of the inconvenience caused to the general public, including small traders and the middle class, due to the bandh, the Collector appealed for its withdrawal. The tribal association leaders agreed, marking an end to the protest.
