Surprising Kyogo rumour Kyogo Furuhashi could be on the move again this summer just six months after leaving Celtic for Rennes in a £10million transfer. The Japanese striker has endured a nightmare spell in France, managing only six appearances, and just one start, for a combined 120 minutes of action and no goals since joining the Ligue 1 club in January. According to Japanese news outlet Sponichi Annex, the 30-year-old could be set for a surprise move back to the UK to sign for newly-promoted English Championship side Birmingham City. The report claims that Kyogo is favouring the possible move to England's second tier ahead of other options on the table from around Europe. A move to the Blues, who are managed by Brendan Rodgers' ex-Celtic assistant Chris Davies, would see the striker team up with former Celtic team-mate Tomoki Iwata. (Photo by) | Getty Images Celtic's possible next windfall Celtic have already banked a £5million sell-on fee this summer thanks to Jeremie Frimpong's move to Liverpool, now they could be set for a second windfall with another former player lined up for a big move. The Parkhead coffers were significantly boosted earlier this month when Frimpong completed a £29.7milion move from Bayer Leverkusen to Anfield. Celtic negotiated a 30 per cent sell-on clause on any future profit made when they sold Frimpong to the German club for £11m in 2021. Another jackpot could be on the cards amid reports that Brighton midfielder Matt O'Riley has been the subject of a £25.6m bid from Napoli just 12 months on from his £25m Parkhead exit. It is claimed that talks are ongoing over the "package" the Seagulls would receive for O'Riley with the club willing to sell the 24-year-old if their valuation is met. It is understood that Celtic hold a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the deal which could see the Scottish champions earn upwards of £2.5m. Ex-Rangers coach lands SPFL job

The exact windfall Matt O'Riley could land Celtic if he joins Napoli as Brighton transfer battle begins
A surge in interest has emerged in the midfielder from Italy and England as the Glasgow giants watch on Celtic looks set for a bumper payday if Matt O'Riley makes a move to Napoli after a bid was reportedly made by the Italian champions. The Hoops have already seen the Parkhead coffers boosted this summer by a sell-on windfall after Jeremie Frimpong 's move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen. And the extra cash looks set to flood into Celtic Park after Napoli made their move for the Danish international. Sky Sports report that that the Serie A winners have tabled a £25.6million (€30million) offer to the Premier League side just 12 months on from his £25million Scottish Premiership exit. It is claimed that talks are ongoing over the "package" the Seagulls would receive for O'Riley - who is still seen as "an important part of their project". However, it is claimed they will "entertain offers" if "they meet their valuation" with Atalanta and Roma among the midfielder's admirers, while Premier League sides are also said to be monitoring the 24-year-old's status. It is understood that Celtic hold a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the deal - which is Napoli's offer was accepted would see just over £2.5million head to Glasgow's east end. But given the offer is the same Brighton paid for the Denmark star, it's likely the fee – and therefore sell-on clause – will climb. O'Riley endured an injury-hampered debut campaign at the AMEX Stadium but showed flashes of his best form in the final weeks of the season. But the man himself has bemoaned the fact he's been unable to play in his favoured position under head coach Fabian Hurzeler - with Georginio Rutter deployed in the playmaker role. Speaking in his homeland, the Denmark international said: "I am not completely happy, and I am just giving my opinion. 'It makes it difficult to show off when you play a position you are not completely happy with. I can play better for the team if I play the number eight position, but I can play well in other positions. "You can say it in a way that is not aggressive. If you are honest with another person, you don't lose anything. The coach can always say he doesn't agree." Celtic hero Matt O'Riley ‘subject of shock transfer bid' 12 months on from big move BUT Hoops won't get major windfall
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) FORMER Celtic star Matt O'Riley is wanted for a shock move to Serie A - but hopes of a major windfall for the Hoops could be dashed. The Parkhead men inserted a clause on the profit of any deal into the small print of last August's £25m move to Brighton - but that will be limited after a first season on the South Coast which never quite got off the ground. 2 Matt O'Riley of Brighton Credit: PA 2 Matt O'Riley didn't always start in his first season at Brighton Credit: Alamy O'Riley, you will recall, sustained a nasty injury in a shocking challenge in his very first match with the Seagulls. His dream move turned into a nightmare just days following his arrival after he was struck down with a horror injury just EIGHT minutes into his debut. He was thrown in from the start in the EFL Cup against Crawley Town in August and was forced off after being on the receiving end of a nasty challenge from Crawley's Jay Williams. That cost him valuable time and when all is said and done the Denmark cap started just 11 matches for his new club last season, scoring twice. That hasn't deterred Napoli, though, who clearly have a keen eye on the Scottish market after the successful recruitment of Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour. We told you last month how the player could be on the move again. The Italian champs have added Kevin de Bruyne too - and now O'Riley could be the fourth member of the group, according to a report from Sky Sports. Reporter Lyall Thomas wrote: "Brighton have received a €30m [just over £25m] offer from Napoli for Matt O'Riley. "Still considered important to the Brighton project but will entertain offers that meet their valuation." Serie A rivals Roma are also credited with an interest in the star, who has four years to run on his five-year deal at the club. Matt O'Riley limps off just minutes into Brighton debut after horror Crawley tackle O'Riley attracted interest from the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus, Atalanta and Roma before Brighton swooped in. Reo Hatate in Celtic hint as Hoops provide 'fulfilment'
It has long been thought the all-action midfielder is a strong candidate for a big move, as a leading star in the Hoops side who has also previously stated his desire to take his career to as high a level as possible. Most recently linked with Serie A side Udinese, the 27-year-old has repeatedly had other interest throughout his time at Parkhead. Hatate has three years remaining on his current deal and Celts would likely be able to command a large fee as they did with £30million-man Matt O'Riley a year ago, although the Japan international is older so perhaps not quite to the same level. Despite a belief that the former Kawasaki Frontale man would love to further his career, he insists winning trophies is what gives him fulfilment in his career. That could suggest a Celtic stay might be his best option. Read more: He told The Sun: "The moment we won the title, I felt a sense of accomplishment and fulfilment unlike anything I had ever felt before. "In the previous season, I was injured repeatedly and played only 16 league games. This year, I was able to play in many more and contribute. "I could also feel my growth as a player, defensively and in attack. I feel I have performed better than ever last season since joining Celtic. That is why I felt like I did when we won the league. "However, I also remember some golden words from Zico that former player Atsuto Uchida once said. They were, 'When you retire as a player, all that remains is the number of titles you have won'. "Hearing that, I'm proud to have added another league title to my career this season. "Winning cups and leagues is a cumulative effort. We play in a team and environment that allows us to aim for the title and we achieved it. "But after a while, people forget how well a player performed in that season and what kind of level they showed. "Numbers of goals and assists are there, but the record of winning a title will remain forever."
