Matija Frigan directly responds to Rangers transfer link as Ibrox insider lands key role
The 22-year-old Croatian striker is valued at around £6.5m by his club who are managed by an ex Ibrox coach Matija Frigan insists a move to Rangers would be perfect for him. The Croatian striker has been linked with an Ibrox switch as he weighs up a transfer from Belgian football. Frigan, 22, is valued at £6.5 million by his club Westerlo - now managed by former Ibrox coach Issame Charai - and he could yet play a key role in any move. Rangers would face competition though with Hamburg also credited with a strong interest in the ex-Rijeka star. Frigan is back in his home town of Rijeka for the close season and broke his silence there on reported interest from Russell Martin's side. He said: "Rangers? That style of league would suit me. I think I'm a player for that type of football. "I know about the interest from clubs, it's good to hear and read such things, but we'll see. Nothing has been decided yet. "Things are in the hands of my agent and when there is something more concrete, we will know. We will weigh everything up and choose the best option. "I have a good season behind me, some clubs are contacting me, but we will see what is best. "I can't say that I am not enjoying it in Belgium, on the contrary, but a change of environment is always good. "Nothing is ruled out and we will see what happens in this transfer window. "I'm in no hurry and there's plenty of interest in me. Of course, that makes every player happy... "I've got a lot more stronger in Belgium. Working on physical preparation is 90 per cent of the training in Belgian football. I can say that I'm a lot stronger both mentally and physically." It is claimed Rangers have set an asking price of £5million for the 30-year-old as they look to make a profit on the £4.5million paid securing his services from Serie A side Cremonese two years ago. That money could be reinvested in the signing of Frigan following reports that Rangers are preparing an official £6m bid for the 22-year-old striker, who hit 13 goals for Belgian side Westerlo last season. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Reports are also linking Rangers with a move for Ghanian winger Kwame Poku, who is poised to leave Peterborough United this summer following the expiry of his contract, although the EFL outfit would be due compensation if he moved north. Rangers boss Martin is also said to be interested in Maccabi Tel Aviv front man Dor Turgeman while talks have also been initiated with Leicester City regarding a potential move for Conor Coady.

Emerging Rangers transfer headlines as Poku route opens, Frigan bid 'ready' and Dessers' AEK wage revealed
It is all the latest headlines involving the Light Blues in one place as we bring you a Friday late afternoon bulletin Rangers are reportedly ready to slap in a £6million bid for top striker target Matija Frigan. And the sale of Cyriel Dessers to AEK Athens could help fund the move. Record Sport can exclusively reveal that the hitman has shaken hands on a £30,000-a-week deal with the Greek giants after they made him their No1 summer transfer target. He's blasted 51 goals over two years in Scotland and all that is left to get the green light on a deal is a package agreed between the two clubs. That could then see Russell Martin move for Croatian striker Frigan with the Scottish Sun reporting that the Ibrox side are preparing an official £6m move. Elsewhere, Kwame Poku is said to be another potential target to fill the void left by fans favourite' Vaclav Cerny after his loan return to parent side Wolfsburg. And Birmingham Live report that Birmingham City are assessing other targets after being left frustrated in their pursuit of the wide man. He's out of contract at Peterborough United but Rangers would still need to pay a compensation package to the EFL outfit if he moved north. And with the newly promoted English Championship side looking elsewhere, that has opened a potential route to Ibrox with a main competitor for his signature out of the race. Closer to home, Robin Propper has stalled on a move back to Twente and will hold talks with new boss Martin. He wants to find out if he has a future in Glasgow after a difficult first season in Scotland after his move from the Eredivisie side. His former club are desperate to re-sign the defender with sports director Jan Streuer admitting it is currently a 'wait and see' situation on the stopper. Dor Turgeman remains a wanted man at Ibrox alongside links to fellow striker Frigan. But it will likely take more than £4m to get that one over the line. The likes of Harry Toffolo, Harry Darling and Flynn Downes have also been linked as the new 49ers Enterprises regime kicks into life. Pre-season returns in just 10 days for Rangers and the Ibrox faithful will be desperate to see new faces on the training ground ahead of vital Champions League qualifiers next month.

Rangers transfer news as big spenders join Matija Frigan chase and Vaclav Cerny loan terms ‘revealed'
Interest in Rangers target Matija Frigan is heating up - with the Westerlo frontman now linked with a reunion with one of his former managers who has taken up the reins at an English Championship club. Record Sport understands that the Croatian striker is a summer target for new Gers sporting director Kevin Thelwell, who is keen to make his mark at Ibrox. And reports in Croatia now state that English second tier side Hull City are also very keen on Frigan. Advertisement The Tigers have just appointed Sergej Jakirovic - who previously led Dinamo Zagreb to the league title in 2024 - as their new head coach. Jakirovic previously worked with Frigan at Rijeka and it was under his management in the second half of the 2022/23 season that the Gers target enjoyed his best scoring campaign to date, netting 15 times in 32 matches in all competitions. And the EFL club are said to be hopeful that the previous working relationship between the duo could give them the edge in a potential transfer tussle. Hull were taken over by Turkish media moguls Acun Medya in 2022 and splahed out nearly £30million on transfer fees last season as the Championship side only avoided the drop to EFL League One by virtue of goal difference. Advertisement One man who Rangers fans would love to see back at Ibrox next season is Vaclav Cerny. But the chances of the Czech Republic star pulling on the Light Blues' jersey once again is looking increasingly unlikely, with the returning Wolfsburg winger not short of suitors. Turkish outfit Trabzonspor are very keen on the player, and are reportedly willing to cash in on their £9.3million-rated Ukrainian international Oleksandr Zubkov in order to fund a deal for Cerny -who is said to be looking for a salary of around £2.9million a year. Advertisement Haber61 claim that the Super Lig team will submit an initial loan offer to Wolfsburg with an obligation to buy next summer.
