Ruben Amorim growing impatient and wants Man Utd transfers completed urgently

Man Utd's only signing of the summer so far is Matheus Cunha, with boss Ruben Amorim wanting new arrivals on board in time for the summer tour of the US in four weeks' time Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim wants his new signings on board for the club's pre-season tour of the USA in four weeks' time. United have been slow to recruit this summer, with £62.5million winger Matheus Cunha from Wolves their only signing so far, despite the need for a radical overhaul of Amorim's squad. Targets for United include Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike and Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, who played under Amorim there. ‌ Amorim is impatient for the new signings to be on the plane for United's three-game tour of the States, which sees them face West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier Leahue Summer Series. ‌ The United boss sees the tour as the ideal environment in which new signings can fully integrate with the squad, as well as enabling them to adapt to the team's system, so they can hit the ground running when the new season starts. Amorim also wants United to offload players he does not want as quickly as possible, chiefly Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony. None feature in Amorim's future plans and must be sold to help raise funds to reinvest in new signings. But United are finding it difficult to attract buyers for their outcasts, primarily because of the high wage demands of the players concerned, as well as their poor form last season, which has left clubs unwilling to meet their market valuations. Rashford wants a move to Barcelona, but there has been little progress on that front, while Napoli have expressed interest in Sancho and Garnacho, but want to pay significantly less that United are demanding. The transfer window opened from June 1 to 10, to allow teams to recruit in time for the Club World Cup, and reopened on Monday, closing on September 1. ‌ Despite United enduring their worst-ever Premier League campaign last season, finishing in 15 th place, Bruno Fernandes has been shortlisted for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award. Fernandes is up against Liverpool duo Mo Salah and Alexis MacAllister, as well as Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and Chelsea forward Cole Palmer. United skipper Fernandes scored eight goals in 36 league appearances last season and 19 in all competitions. The award will be presented at a ceremony in Manchester on August 19. The last time a United player won the accolade was Wayne Rooney in 2010, with Manchester City and England forward Phil Foden the current holder.

Two signings could complete Manchester United's new starting XI

Having responded to a season that ended on a minus goal difference with four defensive signings last year, Manchester United are redressing the balance this summer after their goal difference became ten times worse. Advertisement Matheus Cunha lived up to his number '10' with Wolves last season, tallying 15 Premier League goals. Bryan Mbeumo got five more for Brentford and United are in the market for a new No.9. Well-placed figures at United spoke about three or four signings before the end of last season. Three of those would go straight into the first team. READ MORE: Manchester United have been given the green light to sign £85m Bryan Mbeumo alternative READ MORE: Bryan Mbeumo has done something no Manchester United player has done for 12 years A new frontman, Cunha, Mbeumo, Amad and Bruno Fernandes in the same starting XI is an imposing attack. Ruben Amorim will have Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo and probably Joshua Zirkzee to call upon as well. Advertisement Beyond the three intended attacking additions, the starting XI may otherwise be untouched. United absolutely need an athletic midfielder but they have to get Manuel Ugarte, a considerable investment at £50.75million, up to speed after a patchy first season. A new signing's maiden campaign can always be couched as one of adaptation. Ugarte was not Erik ten Hag's pick to shore up a porous midfield and United's style under the Dutchman was no different before his eventual defenestration in October. Ugarte was entrusted by Ruud van Nistelrooy, a fellow fluent Spanish speaker, during his caretaker stint and he started in 28 of his former Sporting coach Amorim's 42 matches in the dugout. Yet Ugarte ended the season behind Casemiro, regarded as a busted flush, in the pecking order and was benched for the Europa League final. Casemiro's fine form was reserved solely for Europe and he could be redundant in a season comprising only domestic football. Provisionally, Amorim has to reinstall Ugarte with Fernandes as his probable partner in midfield. Advertisement Ugarte and Fernandes have started in a midfield two 11 times and United were beaten on only four occasions. Two of those defeats came three days after Europa League knockout ties, a period when United were half-hearted in their weekend fixtures. Whether United are able to shift Casemiro or not, they require a major reinforcement in the middle third. Mainoo's positioning is largely irrelevant as the alternative is Toby Collyer, whose three starts for the club have come against teams from Scotland, Romania and League One. Mainoo has gone from pivotal to peripheral United are about to release two over-the-hill centre backs but they do not need another one. United recruited Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven within seven months, Harry Maguire has had his contract extended while Noussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw could be permanently relocated to centre half. Advertisement "I've enjoyed it," Heaven said of his first four months at United. "It's been tough, the team has really helped me to play my best and I just want to keep going next season. "I always try my hardest when I play to impress people and I think I've been doing that. I just want to continue." Lisandro Martinez, recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, should return well before the end of the calendar year. The 20-year-old Tyler Fredricson made a decent transition to the first team, albeit in relatively sedate circumstances (and two defeats). Talking about a lighter workload in relation to Shaw suggests a punchline is imminent. In all seriousness, with a reduced schedule Shaw could possibly hack it as a left winger if he improves his conditioning. United took a relative punt on Patrick Dorgu and it seems inevitable that the left wing will be a position to strengthen next year when Shaw has a year left on his contract (unless a club has taken him off United's hands by then). Advertisement Shaw, 30 next month, started five games last season and all of them were at centre back. United lost four and, privately, Amorim must rue picking him in the Europa League final when his form and fitness did not merit that privilege. Shaw has been at United for 11 years United cannot rely on Shaw, who has played in 27 out of 112 matches in the past two seasons. Harry Amass is a sprightlier left winger though there is significant risk in having a 20-year-old and an 18-year-old vying for such a demanding role with Mbeumo pencilled in on the other flank. Dorgu's first four months were mixed and one assist was a derisory return. It would not have helped that whenever he had the ball and looked up he saw either Rasmus Hojlund or Zirkzee. Dorgu will not be cut any more slack this time next year. Advertisement Staff at United speak positively about the Dane's athleticism and his Serie A pedigree. "It's been tough, challenging," Dorgu admitted. "But I'm happy I played a lot. United's possible first XI United's possible second XI "I think the manager trusts me and I try to help the team, so just happy to be on the pitch and I try to do my best over here. "It's a bit different from my old team but I was playing attacking there as well. I just need to adapt to the players and how everyone moves on the pitch. "It's obviously different because the fanbase is so massive. A lot of people talk! Everyone is talking about United. It is difficult for young players but I think if you have the right mentality I think everyone can cope with it and it's about performing on the pitch." Do that and United may be back in the pluses.

Rubem Amorim 'set to banish FOUR Man United outcasts' from pre-season tour as he prepares for Old Trafford rebuild

Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho will reportedly all be exiled from Manchester United 's pre-season tour of the US. The outcasts will be made to train alone at Carrington if they haven't found new sides when the tour begins in July as Ruben Amorim looks to exert his authority at the club. The Portuguese boss endured a dreadful first campaign at Old Trafford, leading United to a 15th place finish in the Premier League, their lowest since relegation in 1974. They were also beaten by Tottenham in the Europa League final in Bilbao last month, meaning they won't be competing in European competition next season for just the second time in 35 years. The campaign was capped by a disastrous post-season tour to Asia which saw the Red Devils humiliatingly lose to exhibition side ASEAN All-Stars, while Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo came under pressure for altercations with fans. A summer rebuild has began with United sealing a £62.5million deal for Matheus Cunha earlier this month, while they are heavily linked with Brentford 's Bryan Mbeumo. Amorim only wants players who will 'die for the shirt', and is therefore set to axe the castaway quartet. A club source told The Sun: 'Amorim is stamping his authority on the club. It was hard arriving mid-season but he now has the opportunity to shape the team in his image. And he's wasting no time. 'He only wants players who would die for the shirt and are on board with his ideas. 'He also wants a smaller squad to create an intimate team bond so that everyone gets enough game time to be at peak fitness when called upon. He doesn't want any bad apples or distractions.' United's US tour begins against West Ham in New Jersey on July 26 less than two months after their post-season tour to Malaysia and Hong Kong concluded. They then play Bournemouth in Chicago on July 30, before taking on Everton in Atlanta four days later. Amorim's side face Arsenal in the opening weekend of the season and he will hope his squad has drastically improved by then. While he has been assured there are funds available to bolster United, the transfer budget will be increased if they can offload Rashford, Garnacho, Antony or Sancho. They have moved quick to bolster their squad and already completed a £62.5m deal for Cunha Sancho has reportedly agreed personal terms with Napoli but United have slapped a €25m (£21.3m) transfer fee on the 25-year-old, which is said to be too much for the Italian champions. Meanwhile, Newcastle are eyeing-up a shock move for Rashford, who has been exiled at Old Trafford after being loaned to Aston Villa for the second half of last season. Garnacho is set to leave Old Trafford after a public spat with boss Amorim over being benched for the Europa League final.

Ruben Amorim to banish Rashford, Garnacho, Antony and Sancho from Man Utd's US tour – if he hasn't sold outcasts already

RUBEN AMORIM is set to axe Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho from Manchester United's pre-season tour of the USA. The Portuguese boss is determined to take a hardline stance with the four outcasts whose days at Old Trafford are numbered. 3 3 3 And if the out-of-favour quartet have not found a new club by the time the squad jet off for the States in July they will be left behind to train alone at Carrington. A club source said: ' Amorim is stamping his authority on the club. He doesn't want any bad apples or distractions.' Amorim is under huge pressure to deliver after a disastrous campaign which saw United finish 15th - their worst since they were relegated in the 1973-74 season. The Red Devils also lost the Europa League final 1-0 to Tottenham. Amorim's rebuilding work has already begun with the £62.5million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves while United are also chasing Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo. The former Sporting coach has been assured there is cash available to strengthen the side in the coming weeks before facing Arsenal at home in the Prem season opener on August 17 and he had hoped to be reunited with striker Viktor Gyokeres. His transfer kitty could also be bolstered with the sale of Garnacho, Rashford, Antony and Sancho. The attacking players will almost certainly be missing when the Red Devils fly Stateside for a three-match tour. United kick-off in New Jersey against West Ham on July 26 ahead of a trip to Chicago to face Bournemouth four days later before finishing up against Everton in Atlanta on August 3. Garnacho, 20, is already the subject of a £45million move to Napoli but United want £70m for the Argentina international. The Serie A champions have also expressed an interest in Sancho, whose future is in limbo after Chelsea declined to sign the on-loan winger for £25m and opted to pay a £5m penalty to send him back to Old Trafford. Prem rivals Newcastle are said to be eyeing Rashford after Aston Villa did not follow up on his loan spell while Antony had a temporary spell in the second half of last season at Real Betis in Spain.

Advertisement The Red Devils suffered a difficult 2024/25, which saw them finish 15th in the Premier League and crash out at the final stage of the Europa League against Tottenham Hotspur. As such, they've hit the start of the transfer hard, paying the release clause for Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Cunha, and they're already closing in on their next target. Advertisement The west London club have reportedly already turned down a £55m bid, but may be more open to concluding the deal now they've landed on a target of their own. Brentford could be in for a transitional season after losing Thomas Frank and facing intense interest for Mbeumo | Credit: Getty Images According to a report from Africafoot, Brentford, along with Brighton and Crystal Palace, are interested in signing FC Metz winger Cheikh Sabaly. The 26-year-old, who is comfortable playing across the front three, has just had his best season to date, netting 15 goals and providing three assists in the French second tier, helping his side to Ligue 1 promotion. To top off a sparkling campaign, he netted one of the goals for Senegal in their recent 3-1 win against England at the City Ground. Advertisement Based on the report, Brentford are ready to activate the release clause in his Metz contract and offer the forward a four-year contract. Losing Mbeumo and Frank in one summer would mean a lot of change for the Bees In FourFourTwo's opinion, it will always help smooth a deal over if the selling club has a replacement lined up. Nevertheless, there's no denying Mbeumo is a special player, who was directly involved in 27 of Brentford's goals last season. If they agree a sale, whoever they bring in will struggle to completely fill the Cameroonian's shoes. Cheikh Sabaly is valued at €4m, according to Transfermarkt.
