Romulus man killed in two-vehicle crash on Kansas state highway
(CBS DETROIT) - A Michigan man was killed in a fiery two-vehicle crash on a state highway in Kansas, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, on K-61 in Reno County, two miles east of Turon. That city is west of Wichita. Martin P. McLaughlin, 68, of Romulus, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report. He was driving a 2024 Ford F150 pickup. The other vehicle was a 2017 Peterbilt semi tractor trailer, driven by Ryan R. Purchase of Ludington, Michigan. Purchase was taken to Reno County Hospital with a suspected serious injury, the report said. McLaughlin was driving southbound on K-51, while the semi truck was northbound, the report said. The vehicles collided head on in the southbound lane. The pickup, which ended up on the road, became fully engulfed in flames, the report said. The truck went off the road to the left and stopped upright in a ditch.

Michigan man dies after fiery semi crash in Reno County
TURON, Kan. (KSNW) – A Michigan man has died after a fiery crash involving a semi in Reno County. It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Kansas Highway 61 near South Olcott Road, two miles east of Turon. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2024 Ford F150 Pickup driving south on K-61 collided head-on with a semi-tractor hauling a trailer driving north. The semi left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch. The Ford became fully engulfed in flames. The driver of the Ford, 68-year-old Martin P. McLaughlin of Michigan, received fatal injuries. The driver of the semi, a 44-year-old man also from Michigan, was taken to an area hospital with suspected injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the KHP.
