Wet Wet Wet's Marti Pellow raves about Glasgow's best mac and cheese
The Wet Wet Wet frontman took to TikTok to sing the praises of The Food Stop in Merchant City, calling their mac & cheese 'divine' and locals were quick to back him up. Scots star and Wet Wet Wet sta r Marti Pellow claims he has discovered the best mac and cheese in Glasgow. Marti Pellow took to TikTok to praise The Food Stop in Merchant City. He described the food as 'divine', and locals were quick to agree, reports Glasgow Live. Address his 130,000 followers on the platform, he said: "I'm at The Food Stop in Merchant City, where they do the best macaroni and cheese. It is divine. "So, if you are ever in Glasgow, come down to Merchant City and go to The Food Stop. Get in there early and get your mac and cheese. Mmmm, yummy." Locals were quick to agree with the star, with one writing: "oh my that's my favourite dinner, love it. My mom used to make the most gorgeous mac & cheese everyone used to ask her to make it.." Volunteers supporting crime victims praised by Princess Royal
More than 100 volunteers and staff from Victim Support Scotland (VSS) were honoured by her visit at the annual OneVSS Volunteering Festival on June 12. Princess Anne, who is the charity's patron, was there to celebrate Volunteers' Week 2025 and the 40th anniversary of VSS. A group of 12 volunteers had the chance to meet her and discuss their roles as well as challenges faced by victims and witnesses of crime. They were also commended for their long service, with some having dedicated 28 years as volunteers and 35 years as staff members. The Princess Royal praised the attendees, acknowledging the support they have offered to victims of crime across Scotland for four decades. James Whyte, head of volunteering at VSS, said: "It was a real treat for our volunteers to meet The Princess Royal, and we are incredibly grateful for the support she has shown as our patron and the interest taken in the vital support we provide to people impacted by crime in Scotland. "This festival focused on celebrating the amazing contribution of our volunteers, and the staff who support them every day. "Our volunteers are often supporting people going through the most difficult time in their lives, and at VSS we want to let them know that they are appreciated and valued - not only by the people we support but by the entire organisation." Victim Support Scotland is an independent, volunteer-led charity that provides emotional, practical, and trauma-informed support to individuals and families dealing with the impact of crime in Scotland. Volunteers guide victims and witnesses through the court process, provide emotional support, signpost specialist services, or simply listen to those who feel isolated and unheard in the criminal justice system.

Top singer enjoyed delicious treat from iconic Glasgow cafe
Marti Pellow swung by the University Cafe on Byres Road in the West End for a cheeky ice cream at 10am on Sunday, June 15. Sharing his visit to the establishment, the Clydebank-born star asked his fans to share their thoughts on having ice cream in the morning. He then asked his followers: "Is it wrong to eat ice cream at 10am? I don't know, is it?" The singer then shows off his 'tiny wee tub of ice cream' - which is in fact huge. After posting the video on social media, fans of the musician flocked to the comments of the post to share their thoughts. One said: "Have ice cream anytime - love the university cafe." A second chimed: "It's never too early for ice cream." Meanwhile, a third added: "Any time is ice cream time. Enjoy." Marti, 60, is known for his incredibly successful music career and for being the lead singer of the pop group Wet Wet Wet. No Marti, No Party: Clydebank's finest Marti Pellow still stealing the show aged 60
Marti Pellow may have just celebrated his 60th birthday – but he's showing no signs of taking things easy. In fact, he's busier than ever and is incredibly happy to be back on the road again, getting ready to bring his Love is All Around Tour to Edinburgh Castle on July 5. 'I played the castle a few times over my life with my old band, Wet Wet Wet, and I always had a fantastic time. Now to come back here again and get the pleasure of doing it – it's always special to be able to sing amongst my own. It's always a pleasure.' I've had the pleasure of interviewing Marti quite a few times over the years and what I can say is he is one of the friendliest and most down-to-earth artists I have met. He always asks about how you're doing, your family and has time for everyone on set. You can't help be charmed by Clydebank's finest – and testament to that is the thousands of fans who pack out each and every one of his shows. The personality is a draw but the music is still so loved, with Goodnight Girl, Sweet Little Mystery and, of course, Love is All Around, creating anthemic singalongs each and every time. 'I love that sense of connection when the audience do the singing too. I'm packing my wee suitcase with all those lovely songs that people remember me for, and that's exactly what we love about the set. 'So make sure you bring your dancing shoes because I'm going to be ripping it up here,' he told me from a stunning balcony overlooking Edinburgh Castle. Marti's highs and lows of his career and personal life are well documented but it seems that he is in the best place now, ready to embrace every opportunity that comes his way – which is why he finally agree to take part in the Masked Singer. 'When I met the people who work there, I was very dubious, but they were tenacious and I was so taken by how passionate they were about the programme and how much I could get involved in the design of the wolf, I had to go for it. 'You have to invest in the character and go on a wee journey with them. I don't know if the wolf will appear again though.' Laughing, he added: 'I thought I was doing quite good and then I looked online at what people were saying and it was 'It's Marti!' 'It's unmistakably Marti.' I think that was my auntie Gladys saying that!' There's a childlike joy in Marti's eyes when you speak to him and he admitted that even though he's just celebrated his big birthday, he still feels incredibly young at heart. In between gigs, he's recording new music at a studio in France and gearing up for a run of shows later in the year, including at Glasgow's Hydro on November 1. 'No Marti, no party' is the chant which echoes around every venue you see Marti in and thankfully, it seems that party is set to continue for many years to come.
