From meme to movie: My F*k Marelize trailer promises feel-good fun
'Before the memes, before the rugby pole, she was just Marelize,' reads the tagline for the feature film My F*k Marelize.
Marelize Horn went viral in 2019 for her video of riding a bike into a rugby pole, and now it's a movie!
MultiChoice announced last year at the Silwerskerm Film Festival that they had commissioned a film based on the viral video.
Written by Brett Michael Innes and directed by Zandr Coetzer, the film is inspired by the events leading up to the iconic rugby pole incident.
When the film was announced, Innes said, 'When people think of a movie based on the phrase 'my f*k, Marelize', they're probably expecting a slapstick comedy about a teenager who always bumps into things. The story of the Horn family has so much more depth than that, and we can't wait to surprise viewers with it.'
The trailer for the film was released on Friday. The coming-of-age story stars Je-ani Swiegelaar, Zandelle Meyer, Neels Clasen, and Nichola Viviers as the Horn family.
'Heidi is a strong-willed woman hiding her cancer from her family. Marelize, her accident-prone daughter, needs to learn how to ride a bike to become an au pair in the Netherlands. How hard can that be?' reads the synopsis.
