Liverpool prepare ‘significant offer' for Marc Guehi
Liverpool are set to make a significant offer for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi, as Jarell Quansah nears a transfer to Bayer Leverkusen. The Premier League champions are nearing an agreement with Leverkusen for Quansah, with the fee north of €40m (£34m). Quansah is expected to sign a five-year deal with the German side and Liverpool will move swiftly to reinvest that fee. According to The Telegraph, Liverpool are set to submit an offer for Guehi. The England international has just 12 months to run on his deal at Crystal Palace and the Eagles are set to cash in on the player. Palace have started talks with Sporting Lisbon's Ousmane Diomande as a potential replacement. Advertisement Guehi has been subject of interest from several Premier League teams in recent windows. Newcastle United saw an approach rejected last summer and remain keen, while Tottenham Hotspur had an offer worth £70m, including add-ons, turned down in January. Chelsea have also expressed interest in re-signing their former academy graduate. Liverpool's proposal is likely to be significantly less than the £70m on offer from Spurs in January, given Palace's negotiating position. Guehi has been targeted to bolster their defensive options and provide competition for Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez. The 24-year-old captained Palace to their first major trophy with FA Cup success last season and has become a regular with England. Guehi was a crucial part of the side that reached the final of Euro 2024 last summer. Liverpool are interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace with Jarrel Quansah now looking likely to join Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth around £34million Marc Guehi has emerged as the latest big-money transfer target for Liverpool as the Premier League champions continue to make waves in the transfer market - but Crystal Palace will not sell their star defender on the cheap. Guehi, 24, is coming off the back of a fine season with the Eagles, who lifted the FA Cup last month. And, 12 months on from rejecting a bid from Newcastle, as well as one from Tottenham in January, it seems Crystal Palace are braced for further interest in their captain. Liverpool are the latest team to take an interest in Guehi, who moved to Selhurst Park from Chelsea in the summer of 2021. The Reds are in talks to sell Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for around £34million and have set their sights on Guehi to replace their academy graduate. But although the England star may be in the final year of his contract, Palace are expected to play hardball over his future. While they may be unable to command the £65m they were seeking from Newcastle last summer, Palace are still likely to demand a significant sum to part ways with Guehi ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. They also rejected an offer from Spurs six months ago, worth £55m with £15m in add-ons. There could, however, be a deal to be done with the Eagles currently in talks over a £40m deal for Ousmane Diomande, the Sporting Lisbon centre half who, ironically, has previously been looked at by Liverpool. The champions are keen to add another top centre-back to their squad with Ibrahima Konate's future still up in the air, while there is also uncertainty over Joe Gomez. Join the debate! Florian Wirtz is in Liverpool and poised to officially shatter the British transfer record on Friday when his £116m switch from Bayer Leverkusen is finalised. The 22-year-old will undergo a medical on Merseyside before putting pen to paper on a long-term deal.
