Man of Many's Staff Favourites—14 June, 2025

We get the chance to test, review, and just toy around with a lot of cool stuff here at Man of Many, but not everything gets the full write-up treatment. Sometimes, we just find things we like and want to share with ya'll, and sometimes we get cool stuff recommended to us and want to talk about it somewhere. Here, in our weekly Staff Favourites, we get the chance to do just that. Put your feet up, preferably with a coffee or beer (depending on the weather), and check out the stuff we loved this week. No-Tell Motel | Image: The Raconteur No-Tell Motel by The Raconteur Nick Hall – Editor-in-Chief It isn't often that a fragrance really speaks to me. Like so many men, colognes, perfumes, and scents are often an afterthought, relegated to the same tier as the 'wallet, keys, phone pocket-pat'. Of course, I understand the necessity and intricacy involved in choosing the right scent, but I have never put too much thought into what that actually means. No-Tell Motel from Australian fine fragrance label The Raconteur may well have changed my view. A punchy scent that exudes a certain level of late-night sophistication, this fragrance embodies the kind of man I wish I was. Suave, elegant and charismatic by default, No-Tell Motel has a playful exuberance that bursts onto the senses. It hits like a counter-punch to the dull and dulcet tones of the established luxury houses, but with a subtle undertone that doesn't overstay its welcome. To me, this fragrance perfectly walks the powerful but not overpowering line, and it comes courtesy of one unique ingredient. As The Raconteur founder and perfumer Craig Andrade told me when we caught up last month, No-Tell Motel actually features an olive fruit absolute, which he described as a 'world-first'. 'It's an actual extract from olives, and I don't know of another scent in the world that's done this in fine fragrance, because you generally can't. No one has ever produced a scent note from actual olives,' Andrade told me. 'All of the olive notes you get in perfumery are always a construct or an accord created by perfumers to mimic the scent of an olive. This is extremely rare because it's got this insane olive fruit absolute, and I built the whole scent around that.' Adrade's new fragrance is an ode to urban nightlife, described as a 'Dirty Martini hooking up with a Spicy Margarita', and I couldn't agree more. There is an earthy undertone that flows through this fragrance, buoyed by the inclusion of Tasmanian mountain pepper, that I am entirely enamoured by. It's decadent, but not in an ostentacious way, but rather the allure of a well-kept secret. Mark my words, No-Tell Motel might just be the most remarkable fragrance I have come across in years. Favourite Article of the Week: Retro Revival: Why Longines is Banking on the Vintage Watch Trend Ultrahuman Ring Air Harry Parsons – Head of Branded Content I've uncovered a new obsession, and it's data. I never thought I would be saying that; however, when it relates to my health and wellbeing, it's a great way to uncover less-than-ideal habits that affect my day-to-day life, hiding behind the guise of unchecked routines. I have been trialling the Ultrahuman Ring Air for a couple of months now, and it has made a noticeable dent in my habits in the most positive way possible. Here are three things that have impressed me the most with this device: The design is fashion-forward. Gone are the days of tracking fitness and having to take it off for meetings, events, etc., to ensure you weren't looking like you were prepared to run a marathon. I've got the ring in Space Silver, and it looks like a completely normal ring, allowing me to wear it day in, day out: perfect for keeping all your health data tracked and not having gaps that affect your health insights. It's all about recovery. Many trackers I've worn in the past focus on the activity aspect as the core data points, burning calories, tracking fitness levels, etc. Whilst the Ring Air does all of this, its core data revolves around recovery, tracking my caffeine-permissible window to ensure I have substantial rest, advanced sleep data covering sleep cycles, HR drop, movement, body temperature, and even how groggy I felt waking up. All of these combine into a holistic view of how to better your rest and recovery, providing tips on how to improve aspects of your nightly routine across the board. What are Circadian Rhythms exactly? Prior to owning the Ring Air, I was not across the body's daily circ rhythms, so this has been an enjoyable learning curve. With each phase providing information on how my body responds to external factors such as exercise, food, and blue light/sunlight, I am able to structure my day to ensure that my rest does not suffer due to a late-night meal or scrolling on my phone too long. P.S. Ultrahuman also have blue-light glasses that block out 99 % of blue light and have a noticeable effect on setting up for sleep (wearing them for 30 min prior to sleep had me out like a light). Whilst the ring itself is a large component of the experience, the app and UX will sway a majority of buyers; after all, there is no screen, so you do find yourself checking the app's data regularly. It feels like every time I go to check my sleep or stress levels, there is a new feature being released. One in particular is tagging lifestyle factors, i.e., drinking coffee, and Ultrahuman's algorithm helps decipher how these affect you day and night. Overall, it's a wellbeing coach, guiding you in the right direction towards a well-rested and energetic self. Who wouldn't want that? If you would like to see more of the ring itself and app, check out our short review here: Favourite Article: 2026 Land Rover Defender Armed with New Tech and Revised Styling Uniqlo Men Ultra Light Padded Quilted Jacket John Guanzon – Head of Creative & Production Anyone else freezing in Sydney right now, or is it just me? No word of a lie, I've barely taken this jacket off. The quilted design makes it feel a little more elevated than your average puffer, but it's still super practical: lightweight, easy to throw on, and surprisingly super warm for something so minimal. I actually brought it with me to Geneva recently, and it got me through some properly cold days there. Since then, it's basically become part of my daily uniform. I wear it to the office, to the kids' soccer training, even just running around doing errands on weekends. It's one of those staple pieces you forget you're wearing until you realise you've been living in it. Favourite Article: Here's All the Best Stuff from Apple's 2025 WWDC Event Under Armour Unstoppable Utility Pants Alex Martinez – Media Sales and Brand Partnerships One of my friends recently described my fashion style as 'eshay grandpa', which was intended as criticism but received as a major compliment. I think the essence of his comment referred to me wearing comfortable and often loose-fitting streetwear. The Under Armour Utility Pant gives a toned back street-style I am going after and just in time for winter too. I'm pretty obsessed with them; they're super versatile (can wear to morning coffees, to work, nights out, and almost any occasion), and I'm all about anything with zippered pockets. Hit play on Tony Touch's guest set for Aimé Leon Dore's 214 Mulberry series, for a soundtrack that keeps the energy high without hijacking your focus. Filmed in the label's secret New York Sound Room on Mulberry Street, the set sounds as good as it looks: with a backdrop themed to Aimé Leon Dore's iconic aesthetic, the dark timber panelling, shelves of wax and just-enough mood lighting make this video a visual treat. For an entire hour, the New York turntable icon glides from golden-era hip-hop to buttery soul, Latin and funk, all blended live on vinyl. It's familiar enough to nod along, eclectic enough to keep your ears pricked. Throw it on in the background and let Tony do what he does best.

Hopefully you're up to some fun and exciting things for the next few days, or are sitting at home playing with your brand-new Nintendo Switch 2. We're gearing up for some exciting stuff, with a few of our writers off on international trips for some exciting, secret things we can show off in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here are a few exciting things we can share now: a few of our favourite things from our personal collections, as well as a special message from one of Man of Many's co-founders. Enjoy! Blundstone #2446's Blundstone #2446's Beatrix Boon – Social Content Producer I took my Blundstone #2446's with me on a recent trip to New York, and at the time, it was a bit of a risk considering I hadn't worn them a bunch till then. But now I can't take them off! I've always been a sneaker person, but ever since breaking them in, they are genuinely more comfortable than my trainers. Between walking Brooklyn streets and navigating Manhattan subways, they held up beautifully — It was all-day comfort and classic style. Plus, the leather is wearing so nicely, I can tell they're gonna be with me for a long time to come. Safe to say, they've officially earned a permanent spot in my rotation. Favourite article: Chess GOAT Magnus Carlsen Perform All-Time Dummy Spit at Norway Tournament 'Elden Ring: Nightreign' | Image: FromSoftware Inc. Elden Ring: Nightreign is Kicking My Ass Dean Blake – Entertainment and Tech Journalist As someone who has spent hundreds of hours of his life dying repeatedly in most of From Software's dark fantasy games, Elden Ring: Nightreign feels very familiar, but also very different. It's effectively the same old Souls formula—a third-person action RPG with much of the gameplay dictated by how well you can manage your stamina bar when being pelted by an over-aggressive enemy—but with a much bigger focus on multiplayer and a rogue-like gameplay loop. You (and potentially two others) are dropped into the game's large, detailed map, and are given 2 in-game days to explore, collect weapons, power-up your chosen character, and get to the next major boss fight before the rains come and lay waste to the world. You're effectively avoiding the storm from Fortnite, only without slurp juice for safety. After surviving two nights, you're taken straight to the run-ending boss, and get rewards based on how well you do. Then, you do it all again. It's much faster than almost any other Souls-style game From has made, and reduces much of the RPG-elements in order to speed up decision making. You're not building out a custom character but are choosing an archetype (Strength-based Barbarian, or Magic-focused Witch, for example) and leaning into it wholeheartedly. It makes it both an easier game to recommend to newcomers, and way harder. Runs aren't too long, lasting about 40 minutes if everything goes well and you actually manage to beat whatever Nightlord you've chosen to take on. If you're like me though, you're probably spending 10-15 minutes solo grinding through the world before getting absolutely hammered by the first boss. The single player scaling isn't quite there yet, so bring some friends. Apple AirPods Pro 2 | Image: Walmart Apple AirPods Pro 2 Price: from AU$399 Here's something we couldn't live without. Our pair of Apple AirPods Pro 2 doesn't leave our side—from the train commute in the morning to the airport for a long-haul flight overseas. We're not sure how Apple squeezes such great performance into a compact framework, but we love it. So much so, we regularly pick these up off the table over a pair of significantly more expensive headphones from brands like Sony and Dyson. They're resistant to dust and sweat, feature very good (not great) noise-cancelling, and you can extract up to 6 hours per wireless charge. Lock it in! Bellroy Flip Case | Image: Bellroy Bellroy Flip Case Price: from AU$129 You'll find a couple of accessories from our Australian friends at Bellroy on this list. Not because they've spent a dime to advertise on our website, but because we love their products! The first of those is the Bellroy Flip Case, which doubles as a card holder and wallet. It's from a brand that's a perennial contender on our list of the best wallet brands for men, and it's returned in a second edition with a slim hardshell exterior, built-in RFID protection, and dual magnetic trapdoors, and more neat tricks. Enjoy the kind of advanced security and access that only this brilliant product can provide. High Camp Firelight 750 Flask | Image: High Camp High Camp Firelight 750 Flask Price: from AU$159.99 High Camp calls the Firelight a hip flask, but we like to think of it as a portable party apparatus. It holds room for up to 750ml of liquid and uses stainless steel construction with vacuum insulation to preserve temperature and quality for up to 24 hours. Two full-size tumblers are part of the package, and they magnetically integrate with the main vessel for seamless storage and transport. Now who wants a drink?! DJI Action 5 Pro | Image: Ben McKimm / Man of Many DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Price: from AU$599 The best action camera we've tested, the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is a great GoPro alternative that dad can use to record all of his adventures. If he cycles, runs, mountainbikes, or rides motorbikes, this is the camera that he'll want. Heck, he can even use it to shoot photos and 4K stabilised video of his next holiday. With OLED touchscreens on the front and back, subject tracking, up to 4 hours of battery life, and a 1/1.3″ sensor that works particularly well in low-light situations, Dad will love it. Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Select Bourbon | Image: Supplied Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Select Bourbon Price: from AU$109 The perfect bourbon for an experienced whisky fan or a dad who needs a new boozy hobby, Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Select Bourbon features two high-rye Kentucky bourbons of four years and seven years (respectively) that came together to form this classic whiskey. It opens on a nose of spicy rye and cinnamon before rolling over the palate in waves of caramel, butter, and tart cherry. We get more tangy fruit at the finish, followed by hints of burnt sugar and clove. Sonos Ace | Image: Sonos Sonos Ace Wireless Over-Ear Headphones Price: from AU$699 Sonos delivers a masterclass in modern performance with its Ace Over-Ear Headphones. Top-shelf engineering and Active Noise Cancellation dial up the immersion while ergonomic comfort, sleek style, and long-lasting performance round out the experience. Uniqlo U Crew Neck Short Sleeve T-Shirt | Image: Uniqlo Uniqlo AIRism Cotton Crew Neck T-Shirt Price: from AU$19.90 We've tested more than 40 white t-shirts for men, and we're yet to find a better value-for-money white t-shirt than the Uniqlo AIRism Cotton Crew Neck T-Shirt. It's the best alternative to socks and undies for dad on Father's Day, and he'll love the boxy cut, but it's the AIRism Cotton fabric developed in partnership with cutting-edge material manufacturer Toray that will seal the deal. With a touch of stretch, it offers the best in comfort and performance. The fact that this is still under AUD$20 is hard to believe. Grab it while you can! H24 Herbes Vives Eau de Parfum | Image: Hermes H24 Herbes Vives Eau de Parfum Price: from AU$216 One of the best summer fragrances for men that we've ever tested, H24 Herbes Vives Eau de Parfum was created by the brand's in-house perfumer, Christine Nagel. This is a testament to modern man, with aromas of fresh herbs and pear granita intermingle with high-tech Physcool molecules to render a zesty olfactory impression best described as 'rediscovering urban nature after the rain.' Dad will only need one or two light sprays on the neck and wrists to generate a lovely waft. Hamilton American Classic Boulton Watch | Image: Image: Hamilton Hamilton American Classic Boulton Watch Price: from AUD$1,275 If it's good enough for Indiana Jones, it's good enough for Dad. Originally released in the 1940s, the Boulton is a timepiece that oozes affordable luxury and heritage. This particular model, which appears on the wrist of Harrison Ford's famed treasure in the new film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, has been subtly adapted to suit modern wearers. It features slightly larger proportions along with an updated leather strap and steel case; however, it maintains the distinctive cushion shape and Art Deco aesthetic. Best of all, the Hamilton Boulton is priced at AUD$1,275, which is pretty good considering it's a piece of watch (and film) history. Bellroy Tokyo Totepack Compact | Image: Bellroy Bellroy Tokyo Totepack Compact Backpack Price: from AU$159 Perennial contender on our list of best backpacks for work and travel is Bellroy's Tokyo Totepack Compact Backpack. With perfect proportions, the pack features padded shoulder straps, a 13-inch padded laptop sleeve with zip guard protection, mesh grab handles, and more comfort features than Dad could poke a stick at. It's not leather, which is something corporate dads tend to prefer, but the 100 per cent recycled fabric is water-resistant, perfect for all weather conditions. Did we mention it also doubles as a tote bag? Twelve South AirFly Pro Price: from AU$89.95 The world becomes wireless with an AirFly Pro at your disposal. This pocket-sized adapter plugs into traditional headphone jacks to function as a Bluetooth transmitter, allowing you to use wireless headphones at places like the gym or on a plane for up to 25 hours at a time. It can also relay audio from your iPhone to the AUX IN connection in rental cars so that you can stream music or follow map directions without syncing your entire digital ecosystem. Fluance RT81 Elite High Fidelity Vinyl Turntable | Image: Fluance Fluance RT81 Elite High Fidelity Vinyl Turntable Price: from AU$400 If Dad is thinking about getting into vinyl (and he should because it rules), Fluance's RT81 Elite Turntable makes for a perfect point of entry and a decor-boosting one at that. Equal parts sleek and robust, it features an internal pre-amp and an array of premium components to offer easy set-up and superior performance for years to come. The price is definitely right so don't hesitate to grab this one as we approach the big day. An entirely new mode of music enjoyment awaits. Flint & Tinder Flannel-Lined Waxed Jacket | Image: Huckberry Flint & Tinder Flannel-Lined Waxed Jacket Price: from USD$298 As worn by actor Pedro Pascal in the smash series The Last of Us, this flannel-lined waxed jacket will have you or your dad looking damn good during the zombie apocalypse (or, you know, during everyday activity). It's cut from weather-resistant Martexin sailcloth and fully lined with 100% polyester striped blanket lining for the best in comfort and performance alike. Mr Muk Brutal Mud | Image: Muk Mr Muk Brutal Mud Price: from AU$30.95 Dad can bolster his grooming arsenal with this low-sheen, brutal-hold mud from Mr Muk. While it targets urban adventurers and modern explorers who need a hair product that can keep pace with their active lifestyles, that doesn't mean dad can't get in on the action, too. Expect a consistent texture and a humidity-resistant formula that keeps a firm hold throughout the day, but also washes out with ease. Things to Consider for Dad Gifts If you are looking to make dad's special day extra special this year, there are a number of key considerations you need to keep in mind. While it would be great to shower Dad with gifts all year round, we understand that certain surprises are best left for special occasions. Here is what you need to think about when buying gifts for Dad. Price – The most important factor in your purchasing decision, the price will play a pivotal role in determining what gift Dad receives. We'd all love to drop a few thousand dollars on a new TV or car, but the reality is, not many people have the funds to make that happen. We recommend opting for a gift that lands in the $100-$200 mark, as that is the sweet spot for most brands. Obviously, you could go above or below this, but there's no need to bankrupt yourself in the process. – The most important factor in your purchasing decision, the price will play a pivotal role in determining what gift Dad receives. When it comes to buying a present that Dad will actually enjoy, it's worth getting the rundown on his hobbies. You might find that he's been harbouring secret plans to improve his short game, learn to paint or just take some time off. After literal years of leaks, months of waiting since the reveal event hosted in April, and a deluge of information being released by the Japanese company what feels like every day, people will today be able to get their hands on the next-gen handheld-hybrid console. I got the chance to test the console out a few months ago, which you can read about here, but if you haven't been able to try out the device at any of the local showings, it honestly looks and feels great. That's not a review, though: those are likely to start dropping in the next few days and weeks. Nintendo has made the very-Nintendo decision to send out review consoles this week, rather than ahead of time, due to the fact the console will need a firmware update to operate. Does this mean the console won't work at all without being able to connect to the internet at least once? We honestly don't know yet. We'll be getting a console and a few games care of Nintendo this week, and getting you some honest thoughts and feedback on the console will be my personal highest priority. For now though, let's review (ha) what the console is delivering in terms of upgrades over the original system, the games you can grab on day one, as well as where you can even buy this thing. 'Mario Kart World' on Nintendo Switch 2 | Image: Dean Blake/Man of Many How Powerful is the Nintendo Switch 2? While the Switch 2's reveal event was pretty light on technical details, we've since gotten quite a bit more clarity on exactly what is powering Nintendo's next-gen efforts. Here's what we know, care of the wonderful people over at Digital Foundry for the meaty tech specs. Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Switch 1 (OLED Model) Price AUD$699 (console only) AUD$769 (w/ Mario Kart World) AUD$539 Screen 7.9' 1080p LCD screen 279 pixels-per-inch Up to 120hz refresh rate HDR capable 10-point multi touch 7' 720p OLED screen 210 pixels-per-inch Up to 60hz refresh rate 10-point multi touch GPU Nvidia custom Ampere 1007MHz (docked), 561MHz (mobile), Max 1.4GHz Nvidia custom Tegra X1 768MHz (docked), 460MHz (mobile), Max 921MHz CPU 8x ARM Cortex A78C 998MHz (docked), 1101MHz mobile, Max 1.7GHz 1536 CUDA Cores 4x ARM Cortex A57 1020 MHz (docked and mobile), Max 1.785GHz 256 CUDA cores Memory 12GB LPDDR5 RAM 4GB LPDDR4 RAM Battery 5220mAh Approximately 2-6 hours playtime Approximately 3 hours to charge to full 4310mAh Approximately 4.5-9 hours playtime Approximately 3 hours to charge to full Built-in Storage 256GB 64GB Ports Game Card Slot 2 USB-C ports 4-pole stereo 3.5mm audio jack microSD Express card slot Game Card Slot 1 USB-C port 4-pole stereo 3.5mm audio jack microSD card slot Dimensions 166mm x 272mm x 13.9mm Approximately 401 grams 102mm x 242mm x 13.9mm Approximately 320 grams What's included – Switch 2 Console – Joy-Con 2 controllers (L+R) – Joy-Con 2 Grip – Joy-Con 2 Straps – Nintendo Switch 2 Dock – Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable – Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter – USB-C Charging Cable – Mario Kart World Download Code (in bundle) – Switch OLED Console – Joy-Con controllers (L+R) – Joy-Con Grip – Joy-Con Straps – Nintendo Switch Dock – HDMI Cable – Nintendo Switch AC Adapter – USB-C Charging Cable – Pack-in Game (in bundles) Scroll horizontally to view full table What does any of that mean? Well, it means many of the rumours, some of which go back to 2021, were spot on, and also that the Switch 2 is going to outclass the original Switch by a country mile. In terms of power, the Switch 2 is already showing off some big power gains on even comparable and competitive hardware, such as Valve's Steam Deck, though I doubt it'll outclass some of the higher-end (and far more expensive) PC handhelds, such as the Lenovo Legion Go or the AyaNeo Kun, in terms of raw power. It is a much smaller, more portable device than any of those, though, and has the benefit of the Nintendo brand to pull it to success. Yes, the Steam Deck is a very popular console that has sold an estimated 4 million units since its launch in 2022, but compare that to the Switch 1's meteoric 150 million units sold since 2017 and you'll start to see how wide the sales gulf is. We're already seeing lines around the block for the Switch 2's launch, so it's fair to expect the Switch 2 to do well. What's particularly impressive about the new system is the screen: it's a pretty sizeable bump up in multiple ways. Obviously, it's bigger, but it's also denser: the Switch 2 features 279 pixels-per-inch, which will go a long way in making that larger 7.9' screen pop, especially with the increase in resolution from 720p on the OG Switch to 1080p. Plus, it's capable of hitting 120Hz, which is nothing to sneeze at. The Switch OLED plays host to a 60Hz screen, the Steam Deck OLED 90Hz, while the ROG Ally X also sits at 120Hz. Only the Lenovo Legion Go beats the pack with a 144Hz screen, but that console is about twice as thick, heavy, and expensive as the Nintendo Switch 2. Well all know Nintendo consoles tend to sell off the back of solid software, though, so let's take a look at what's coming to the Switch 2. Confirmed Switch 2 Games When it comes to exciting launch line-ups, Nintendo really hit it out of the park with the original Switch, which launched with an upgraded version of the now legendary Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This time around, for the Switch 2, Nintendo is giving us a brand new Mario Kart game in Mario Kart World. While the game may not tickle the fancy of the most hardcore gamers, it's worth remembering that Mario Kart 8, which launched across the WiiU and the Switch with a Deluxe port, are considered the fourth best selling game of all time. If that's not to your taste, though, there's plenty of other options there for you. Beyond being able to play compatible Switch 1 games and the addition of a few Gamecube games to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, here's a full list of everything confirmed to be coming to the Switch 2 this year. There'll definitely be more games announced as the weeks and months roll on, so if your favourite Nintendo series isn't represented just yet, there's still hope. New Fire Emblem or Legend of Zelda game, please? Donkey Kong Bonanza | Image: Nintendo Where can you buy the Nintendo Switch 2 In all honesty, it's not clear yet which retailers will have stock left over after pre-orders have been filled. There have been reports across social media of people's pre-orders being cancelled by retailers, which tends to mean they took more pre-orders than Nintendo sent consoles, and could mean we're looking at a lower stock volume at retailers than anticipated and a 'sold out' situation. However, if you want to try your luck, you can try purchase the Switch 2 from any major electronics or games store and hope they restock quickly. God speed.
