Mithi river desilting scam; Dino Morea appears before ED again; read more
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Bollywood actor Dino Morea appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Mumbai on Thursday as part of an ongoing probe into a suspected Rs 65.54 crore money laundering scam tied to desilting contracts for the Mithi river. As reported by PTI, the 49-year-old actor reached the ED office at Ballard Estate around 10:30 AM following a fresh summons, officials confirmed. ED probes alleged financial links Dino Morea's statement is being recorded after officials reportedly found financial transactions allegedly connecting him to key accused individuals already arrested by the Mumbai Police 's Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Earlier, on June 12, the actor was questioned by the ED for several hours. Investigators are also examining transactions involving a company linked to his brother Santino Morea. The FIR alleges that between 2017 and 2023, tenders were manipulated to favor specific machinery suppliers. Contractors allegedly raised fake bills for transporting sludge extracted from the river. The Mithi River desilting initiative was launched after the devastating 2005 Mumbai floods. Middlemen and machinery rentals under lens Investigators believe that Ketan Kadam and Jai Joshi, both arrested, played a key role as middlemen. The Morea brothers were reportedly questioned over their links with Kadam and other financial ties related to the case. Notably, Dino Morea's assets were previously attached in 2021 in connection with another money laundering probe. Actress Neena Gupta , who will soon be seen in the film 'Metro... In Dino', shared that she was pleasantly surprised to learn how important her role is in the story. In a recent interview, she said that since she shot her scenes in parts, she didn't realize the full impact of her character. So when she found out her role was quite significant, she felt happy and thrilled. Talking to IANS, the actress said, "We did it in small parts. In Mumbai, Calcutta, here and there. When I did the dubbing, I told my daughter, 'Masaba, my role is quite good. It is a big role. I thought it was a small role. I was very excited." Earlier, actress Neena Gupta recalled a moment on the film's set when she was all prepared to give her shot but was suddenly asked to go back to her van. She shared that director Anurag Basu is very instinctive and full of ideas, often making changes right up until the last minute before the camera starts rolling. "Once we came on the set for shoot as the production team called us on the set. We were told to go back in the van, and that it will take some time. So I saw Dada in the hall where the shoot was going on. He went into a corner. And he sat there somewhere. So I asked, 'What happened to Dada?' The assistant said, 'He wants to think'. So suddenly he wanted to think about something," revealed the actress. Anurag's fresh ideas Neena Gupta shared that Anurag Basu carries the full script in his head and often brings fresh ideas right before a scene.
