Marvel Just Added a *Fourth* Movie to Its 2028 Plans

Marvel's been having a pretty quiet time at the box office as of late, as it prepares to head into a new Avengers duology to cap off its latest, up-and-down era in a pretty subdued manner. 2025 may have 3 MCU movies to its name (and a host of TV projects), but after Fantastic Four: First Steps, just four movies will release across 2026 and 2027. But once the dust settles on Secret Wars? Marvel Studios is cranking things back up. Variety reports that Disney has now dated a fourth untitled Marvel theatrical release to its 2028 slate, slotting in at December 15, 2028, and joining untitled projects already set for February, May, and November of that year. As much as 2028 already doesn't feel like a real year at this point, a year with four films that don't have titles or even franchises attached to them yet feels even faker. But at the very least the commitment in the here and now suggests that, after spending a few years acknowledging that Marvel may have faltered by trying to pump out so many series and films in the wake of Infinity War, the studio wants to do exactly that once more once Avengers: Secret Wars rolls out in December 2027 and the seventh 'phase' of the MCU kicks off in earnest. We're still going to be in that quieter phase for the next few years though. Once First Steps releases next month, the next Marvel movie will arrive in the form of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, currently set for a July 2026 slot, followed by Avengers: Doomsday in December that same year. 2027 is currently slated similarly, with a currently untitled project set for July, and the aforementioned Secret Wars in December. That is, of course, not counting any potential streaming TV projects that are currently in the works, like more seasons of X-Men '97, Daredevil: Born Again, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, as well as series like Wonder Man, Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, and Vision Quest. There's still going to be a lot of Marvel, it's just that not much of it will be on the big screen. As to what those 2028 films might end up being, it's perhaps not too out of the realm of possibility to suspect that one of them might be the MCU's long-awaited debut of the X-Men, with Thunderbolts' Jake Schreier currently tapped to bring mutantkind to the big screen once more. We know Black Panther 3 is in the works, so that might not be out of the question, and Variety's report also casually makes note that a sequel to Fantastic Four: First Steps is also now in development, so it's possible we could see Marvel's first family return in 2028 too. Hell, maybe one of them might end up being Blade. Mahershala Ali can dream, right?

How to get the Moon Knight Phoenix Knight skin in Marvel Rivals

Image via NetEase Games. The Season 2.5 update alone has featured a lot of hero skins in Marvel Rivals. Be it the premium skins like Ultron X-Tron, Groot Yggroot, Scarlet Witch Immortal Sovereign, or the free skins like Golden Ultron, Mister Fantastic Future Foundation, the recent mid-season refresh has it all. However, this is not the end as Marvel Rivals has recently launched a skin for our favorite MCU superhero, Moon Knight, as well. Along with it, a skin for Iron Fist has also been released as well. Everything you need to know about the Moon Knight Phoenix Knight skin in Marvel Rivals The Moon Knight Phoenix Knight skin has been launched in Marvel Rivals on June 20, 2025 at 2:00 AM UTC. Moon Knight along with Iron Fist marks the fourth set of shop skin after Sunshine Land Shark Jeff the Land Shark, Future Foundation Thing, and many more. Unlike his typical appearance in MCU, the Phoenix Knight skin is quite different. Similar to the Phoenix bird, the whole outfit is themed in flame red and gold. However, this version of Moon Knight might look familiar to the OG Marvel comics fans. In 2018 Avengers #36, in an attempt to obtain all the powers in the universe by the order of Khonsu, Moon Knight acquired Mjolnir and the strength of Iron First to become the Phoenix Force. And the recently released skin reminds us of that version of Moon Knight. Now, how to get this skin? Unlike all the available free skins in Marvel Rivals , you don't need to complete any quests or watch any Twitch streams to redeem this skin. As it's a paid skin, you can directly purchase it from the Store tab in the Main Menu of the game. There you will find the Featured Tab where you should definitely find it and can buy it for 1,400 units. However, if you buy the whole Phoenix Night bundle then you will get the skin as well as an MVP Animation, Emote, Nameplate, and Spray, that too for just 200 Units more. Marvel boss Kevin Feige confuses all of us by saying the Fantastic Four ship in the Thunderbolts post-credits might not be "the same ship" as the Excelsior

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has just dropped a big hint about how The Fantastic Four: First Steps will connect to the rest of the MCU as it kicks off Marvel Phase 6, all hinging on the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts*, in which the newly minted New Avengers watch the FF's ship the Excelsior approach Earth on a view screen. "Their ship is the Excelsior, and there is a Fantastic Four ship entering the MCU ... But I'm not sure they're the same ship," Feige tells Empire Magazine (via Culture Crave). The thing is, even as a lifelong comic reader and fan of the Fantastic Four, I have no idea what the heck he means by this. It doesn't help that there's not any more context given with the tease. There are a few possibilities that spring to mind, but the grammar puzzle nature of Feige's words - likely intentional - leaves me with more questions than answers. My best guess is that the ship, while similar to the Excelsior, is a different ship of some kind. It could be a different, souped-up ship that the FF will use to travel between dimensions. Or perhaps even something related to Doctor Doom. Maybe most likely is the idea that the ship will be a vessel by which Reed Richards and his family are able to escape the destruction of their home universe. In the lead up to 2015's Secret Wars, Reed helps build a so-called "ark" that allows him and some of Marvel's heroes to escape reality being rewritten around them. What seems least likely is that there's yet another Fantastic Four besides the team that lives in their own side reality away from the core MCU. It's all but certain that the ones who star in The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be the same FF to travel into the MCU. That said, it's not impossible that this is somehow the Reed Richards and family of the core MCU, or some other strange twist. We probably won't find out exactly what the deal is until The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives in theaters on July 25. In the meantime, check out our guide to all the upcoming Marvel movies and shows for everything else that's on the way.

Marvel unveils new Fantastic Four popcorn bucket – and it gives us our best look yet at the titular team's ship Excelsior (AKA the one that's not in Thunderbolts*)

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Move over, Galactus! Marvel is clearly hoping fans can stretch their budgets to two popcorn buckets when seeing The Fantastic Four: First Steps, now that it's unveiled a new design centered on Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards. Not only does the second bucket offer up some cool retro lettering, Richard's elongated arms, and our best look yet at the superheroes' suits, we also get a great glimpse at Excelsior, the First Family's ship. Due to its 'F4' emblem and similar silhouette, many assumed that their spacecraft was the one spotted in the Thunderbolts* post-credits scene, but Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige later squashed the theory. "Their ship is the Excelsior, and there is a Fantastic Four ship entering the MCU... But I'm not sure they're the same ship," he told Empire Magazine (via Culture Crave). On the bucket, the differences are clearer, particularly when it comes to the boosters and landing legs. Consider us intrigued! Also starring Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Vanessa Kirby, The Fantastic Four: First Steps releases on July 25, 2025. The titular team are set to face off against Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) and Galactus (Ralph Ineson) in the flick, though it's no surprise we should expect some multiversal shenanigans, too, given the fact that they're clearly not on the same timeline as Captain America, Yelena Bolova, and the rest of the MCU's big players currently. While we wait, check out our guide to all the upcoming Marvel movies and shows on the way, as well as our guide to how to watch the Marvel movies in order.
