Virat Kohli chooses to live a quiet life with Anushka Sharma and kids in London amidst India's test match against England
Virat Kohli is one of the most loved cricketers in the industry. Fans flock to the stadium to get a glimpse of the father of two. Last month, Kohli announced his retirement from Test Cricket, and ahead of India playing against England, the star batter is spending time with his wife, Anushka Sharma, and his two kids. According to the reports, the family of four has headed to London. Kohli, however, is keeping a low profile, living just a few miles away from the stadium he once ruled at. As per The Telegraph, Vamika's dad is deliberately keeping his distance from cricket, despite being close to the stadium where the Shubman Gill-led team is battling it out against England. Kohli also skipped watching the World Test Championship final and the MCC's World Cricket Connects symposium live in the stadium. Has London become Virat Kohli's new abode? While Virat Kohli has turned out to be one of the best batsmen India has, making and breaking multiple records, he has found his solace away from his home country, in London. The cricketer and his actress wife are often spotted taking a stroll on the streets, enjoying their meal in restaurants, and taking the tubes as transportation. All of this is unthinkable in India, assuming his celebrity status. The cricketer, on multiple occasions, has also revealed that he loves his privacy abroad, claiming it as 'one of the reasons to settle on foreign soil.' Furthermore, it is reported that Virat, along with Anushka, Vamika, and Akaay, is living in Notting Hill, a posh neighborhood in London. Despite his on-field personality of showing aggression and excitement, Kohli has managed a rather quiet and minimal persona off the field. Speaking of cricket, the batter was offered to play a season of the sport by the Middlesex countryside but has yet to respond to the invitation. The last time fans saw Virat Kohli on the ground was in the RCB jersey, as the team lifted the trophy.

Traders urged to register afresh in ‘Vyapara' software for license renewal
Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), as per the State government's directives, will use the 'Vyapara' software developed by the government for issuing and renewing trade licences, said Commissioner Ravichandra Naik, on Friday. He asked traders to register afresh in the 'Vyapara' software by submitting the required documents for renewing their licences. To submit their applications, traders may log on to the website select the 'Citizen Online Services' section, followed by the 'Apply for trade licence' option. The trade licence fee can be paid, and the status of the application can be checked online. Once the licence is approved, it can be downloaded online. Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy: Why fans are divided over IND-ENG series rename?
The announcement to rename the Pataudi Trophy to the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy has sparked widespread debate within the global cricketing community. Far from being a simple rebranding, the move has raised deeper questions about respect, legacy, and the future of cricket's rich traditions. What was the Pataudi Trophy? Introduced in 2007, the Pataudi Trophy commemorated 75 years since India's first Test series in England. Named after the illustrious Pataudi family, it celebrated both Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the only cricketer to represent both England and India in Tests, and his son, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, fondly remembered as 'Tiger.' Tiger Pataudi was not just a charismatic leader but also a pivotal figure in shaping a unified, proud Indian team during the 1960s and '70s. In early June 2025, the ECB and BCCI jointly announced the renaming of the trophy to honour Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson, modern-day legends of Indian and English cricket, respectively. Tendulkar, with 200 Test caps, and Anderson, with over 700 wickets, represent unmatched longevity and excellence in the game. According to officials, the move was intended to make the contest more relatable to younger fans and align with the current trend of celebrating contemporary icons. There is also speculation that the MCC, which originally helped institute the Pataudi Trophy, may have subtly opposed the change. Why Tiger Pataudi Still Matters Tiger Pataudi's contribution to Indian cricket goes far beyond numbers. As former players like Sunil Gavaskar and Erapalli Prasanna have noted, he instilled a sense of national pride, encouraged unity across regional divides, and redefined how Indian cricketers saw themselves, as a cohesive, competitive force. Bishan Singh Bedi once called him 'the best thing to happen to Indian cricket.' For many, his legacy isn't just historical, it's foundational. The Pataudi family expressed disappointment over the decision. Sharmila Tagore, Tiger's widow, criticized the lack of consultation, revealing that while her son, actor Saif Ali Khan, was informed by the ECB, the family had no input in the decision. Cricketing legends like Gavaskar condemned the move as tone-deaf, warning against disregarding history for short-term relevance. Harsha Bhogle also highlighted the symbolic bridge the Pataudi name formed between two cricketing cultures. The Real Issue: Legacy vs. Marketing The Pataudi Trophy wasn't just a title, it stood for the shared, complex history between India and England. By replacing it with a name tied to recent stars, many believe cricket risks losing its sense of heritage in favour of brand appeal. The backlash highlights that while Tendulkar and Anderson are icons, legacy isn't something to be rewritten lightly. Sachin Tendulkar reached out to Pataudi family Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar revealed on Thursday that he contacted the family of the late Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi immediately after learning about the renaming of the India-England Test series trophy. He said he wanted to make sure that Pataudi's legacy remained a part of the prestigious contest. The Pataudi Trophy has now been replaced by the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, named in honor of Tendulkar and former England fast bowler James Anderson. The decision to retire the Pataudi Trophy was made jointly by the BCCI and the England and Wales Cricket Board. "I know that the Pataudi Trophy was retired a few months ago by BCCI and ECB. But when I got to know about the trophy being named after me and (James) Anderson, my first phone call was to the Pataudi family," the Mumbai maestro recalled in an interview to PTI. "Tiger Pataudi played a huge role in inspiring many generations and that should be never forgotten. So I'm glad with this outcome," the 52-year-old, who is still the owner of highest number of Test runs, said.

Virat Kohli To Attend Games During India-England Series? Report Makes 'Absent' Claim
A major absence during the India-England Test series will be star batter Virat Kohli who announced his retirement from the longest format of the sport. However, speculations have been rife about whether he will be attending matches during the series considering the fact that Virat lives in the vicinity with his wife Anushka Sharma and kids. Virat has chosen a life in England which is devoid of the fanfare and according to a report by Telegraph, he may not attend many games because he has distanced himself from the game. Despite being in the country, Kohli recently skipped both the World Test Championship final and the MCC's 'World Cricket Connects' symposium. Coming to the first Test match, India's new Test captain Shubman Gill faces a stern challenge leading the side in testing English conditions, and he has to show patience and composure to succeed on the demanding tour, feels former head coach Ravi Shastri. With India going through a transition phase following the retirements of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin, the BCCI has entrusted Gill to lead the Indian Test team. Gill's first assignment as skipper is the five-Test series in England that starts with the opening match in Leeds on Friday. "I think, take your time," Shastri said on 'The ICC Review', offering his initial guidance to the 25-year-old Gill. "It's not going to be easy. He's (Gill) been asked to do a tough job, that is to captain India on a tour of England." It is still early days in Gill's Test career, with the youngster amassing 1893 runs at an average of 35.05 in 32 matches, since making his debut in December 2020. Besides his batting, Gill's leadership skills will be put to test in England, where India last won a Test series in 2007.

Virat Kohli to lay low, lead quiet life in England, stay away from cricket even as India play 2 Tests in London: Report
As India prepare for a highly-awaited five-Test series against England, the most talked-about absence is undoubtedly that of Virat Kohli, who, while not part of the squad, remains very much in the vicinity. The former captain, now retired from Test cricket, is based in London with his wife Anushka Sharma and their two children, choosing a life of quiet anonymity just miles away from the cricketing field he once dominated. A report in The Telegraph sheds light on Kohli's current life in England: understated, private, and deliberately distanced from the sport, even as the Indian team gets ready to play two Tests in the very city he now calls home. Unlike Sachin Tendulkar, who was spotted at Lord's recently, Kohli skipped both the World Test Championship final and the MCC's 'World Cricket Connects' symposium, despite being within touching distance. London has long offered Kohli a kind of refuge that India never could. Here, he is occasionally seen at restaurants or even riding the tube, an unthinkable scenario back home. Kohli has, on a number of occasions, also acknowledged the privacy he enjoys on foreign soil, which seems to be the primary reason behind his shifting his base to England. The couple is believed to reside in Notting Hill, a neighbourhood they have quietly occupied for a few years now. In contrast to his iconic on-field persona, Kohli's off-field life has become intentionally minimal. Recently, County side Middlesex had shown interest in roping in Virat Kohli for the season; however, Kohli has yet to show any inclination towards the offer. His only recent cricketing involvement came earlier this month when Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the IPL franchise he led, finally won their maiden title, prompting wild celebrations that also, tragically, resulted in a deadly stampede during the victory parade. Kohli is expected to return to action in August for India's ODI tour of Bangladesh, the only format he now plays. Until then, his relationship with the England series will remain a curious one: geographically close, otherwise distant. Kohli did, however, host a number of Team India players, including newly-appointed captain Shubman Gill, at his London home for lunch before the start of the series.
