Metallica is back in the Bay Area. Here's how to avoid Levi's Stadium traffic chaos
Bay Area rock giants Metallica are set to bring their thunderous M72 World Tour to Levi's Stadium this weekend, and local officials are urging concertgoers to brace for traffic snarls and street closures. The Santa Clara Police Department issued a traffic advisory for the band's highly anticipated shows at the home of the San Francisco 49ers on Friday, June 20 and Sunday, June 22, each beginning at 6 p.m. Levi's Stadium is expected to draw tens of thousands of fans, with setlists promised to differ each night and support from Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills on Friday, followed by Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies on Sunday. Heavy congestion is expected throughout the day on Highways 101, 237, 880, Lawrence Expressway, Great America Parkway and San Tomas Expressway, according to the police advisory. Tasman Drive will be closed between Convention Center Circle and Centennial / Marie P DeBartolo Way starting at 9 a.m. and will remain shut through the conclusion of each show. No parking will be allowed on Tasman Drive. Additional parking restrictions and slipway closures will affect Lick Mill Boulevard and eastbound Tasman Drive. Concertgoers were urged to pre-purchase parking and consider rideshares or bike valet options. Taking public transit was strongly encouraged. Caltrain will offer regular weekday service on Friday and weekend service on Sunday, with the last northbound train departing Mountain View at 11:48 p.m. and 11:49 p.m., respectively. Riders can transfer to the VTA light rail at Mountain View for direct service to the stadium. BART and ACE are also offering access to the stadium. Both Metallica shows are scheduled to end by 11 p.m., with the stadium securing a special waiver to extend Sunday's curfew by one hour beyond the usual 10 p.m. limit. 'Make it a night to remember, not one you regret,' the police advisory notes. 'Rock smart, ride safe, and leave the driving to someone sober.'

Heavy Metal Legend, 61, Is a Hot 'Silver Fox' at Recent Concert
Heavy Metal Legend, 61, Is a Hot 'Silver Fox' at Recent Concert originally appeared on Parade. Since April 2025, metal fans have been capturing memorable moments from Metallica's continuation of 2024's M72 World Tour. Long-time fans have shouted out highlights like incredible performances of songs like "Sanitarium," and were equally impressed by openers Pantera and rap metal artist Limp Bizkit. One consistent takeaway? James Hetfield, 61, still looks as incredible as he sounds. "He's actually better looking now," gushed one fan. "James been fine for years but def got more find with his age," proclaimed another. One look at him and it's hard to deny it. A recent video depicts Hetfield with his signature 'stache, toned arms and trim and drummer Lars Ulrich formed the L.A. band in 1981 and are known as one of the "founding fathers" of thrash metal. Their album "Master of Puppets" skyrocketed them to fame in 1986, and the band has gone of so many musical journeys since their formation. By the '90s, Metallica slightly pivoted away from their thrash roots, but came back full circle by their 2008 album "Death Magnetic." That isn't to say they've gone without their hardships. The band weathered a lot of ups and downs, from rotating members, to struggling with addiction, and "flops" like their 2003 "St. Anger" album. Despite the turbulent years, Metallica remains what is considered to be one of the most influential bands of all time. With an impressive 40 plus years of touring under their belt, fans mostly cannot get over how incredible they still sound. The fact that Hetfield is officially a silver fox is just icing on the cake. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Heavy Metal Legend, 61, Is a Hot 'Silver Fox' at Recent Concert first appeared on Parade on Jun 9, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 9, 2025, where it first appeared.

Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' Spends 100th Week on Billboard's Rock Digital Song Sales Chart
The post Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' Spends 100th Week on Billboard's Rock Digital Song Sales Chart appeared first on Consequence. Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' has achieved the rare feat of spending 100 weeks on the Billboard Rock Digital Song Sales chart. Get Metallica Tickets Here According to Forbes, the band's iconic 1991 single has now spent more time on the tally than all of Metallica's other charting songs combined, although it's still not their peak. Both 'Master of Puppets' and 'Lux Æterna' reached No. 2 in 2022, while 'Enter Sandman' stalled at No. 3 in 2021 despite its longevity as a chart mainstay. Notably, 'Enter Sandman' joins Disturbed's cover of Simon and Garfunkel's 'The Sound of Silence' (329 weeks) and 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC (520 weeks) as the only other 100-plus-week inclusions in the Billboard chart's history. Join us backstage with Metallica as our man Eddie Rowley gets a taste of what's coming to Dublin's Aviva
Our showbiz reporter meets metal icons as Irish fans clamour for tickets to double date It once belonged to former Skid Row and Thin Lizzy guitarist, the late Gary Moore, who was forced to sell it when he was down on his luck financially. Gary had bought it from its first famous owner, British musician Peter Green, who used it during his time in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Fleetwood Mac. 'Greeny', a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard named after Green, is now one of the most recognisable guitars on the face of the earth. The band will play two different sets over two nights with different support acts too . . When I joined Metallica's M72 World Tour in Philadelphia last weekend, guitar god Hammett told us at a sideline event: 'It's funny, I had nothing to do with the fanbase this guitar has and it's a huge fanbase. 'When I acquired this guitar the fanbase even swelled exponentially because people learned about the other players who owned this guitar, so I feel like I'm furthering a legacy. 'A lot of the time people come up to me who are not Metallica fans but who love Greeny and they want to take a picture with her. It's the first time I owned a guitar that already had a fan club before I had it.' I watched Kirk in action with 'Greeny' over two nights at 'The Linc' stadium, home of the Philadelphia Eagles, where Metallica thrilled their own fans with incendiary performances in spectacular shows that will play Dublin's Aviva Stadium next June. Eddie with Metallica tour chief Jon-Michael Marino Tickets cover two concerts, with the world's greatest heavy metal band playing a completely different set list each night and with two new support acts on the second bill. As Metallica tour chief Jon-Michael Marino took the Sunday World inside the world of the legendary band hours before the show, I got the thrill of stepping up on to the stage where they'd perform to 67,000 fans that night. The sprawling, breath-taking stage is 'in the round' with eight gigantic towers hosting video screens and a colossal sound system that ensures even fans sitting in the gods have the best possible experience. Earlier, on my way in, I had strolled past 87 monster trucks that ferry in the stage and production. 'We have a crew of 350 people, so it's a travelling village. The production is incredible, but the live energy in the Metallica concert is really second to none,' Jon pointed out. 'It doesn't matter if you're seeing the band for the first time or if you are some of the die-hard fans I know personally who have seen 250 shows, it's the energy and the sense of community you have when you have 40,000 to 80,000 Metallica fans gathered in one space that's pretty special… the goosebumps that you get don't really go away. Eddie Rowley with one of the Metallica guitars 'The shows have only got better somehow over 44 years. They're not getting slower, they're not getting softer, it's not a greatest hits lap around the world. They are still creating new music and I expect that they'll continue to do so.' Over the two nights in Philadelphia, Metallica unleashed a barrage of their most celebrated and revered songs from their impressive arsenal with manic drumming from skinsman Lars driving the full-on, power-packed performance. James Hetfield's voice is a force of nature and he looks like he's in the best shape of his life these days — having struggled with alcohol abuse in the past — as he prowls the stage mesmerising us with his guitar work and vocal delivery. 'Music saves my life every day, I hope you feel the same,' Hetfield told us at the first show. On the second night he addressed the issue of suicide, urging people to seek help. 'I know darkness, I know everyone here knows darkness, and we don't know how hard it needs to get to go there [suicide],' James says. 'But that permanent solution to a temporary problem is not worth it. I say talk, talk that sh*t out, get that sh*t out… that's not why you're here. You are here to be loved and cherished, so talk to your friends.' Eddie Rowley with the Metallica drum kit Superfan Brian Thomas from Raleigh, North Carolina, has been to 46 Metallica shows. 'It's going to hit 50 in Tampa in a couple of weeks and I'm really looking hard at coming to Dublin,' he tells me. 'You can't go to a sporting event in the United States without hearing a Metallica song because it's high energy, excellent music, amps the crowd up and everybody's feeling good when they hear it.' Metallica's M72 World Tour will play Dublin's Aviva Stadium on June 19 and 21, 2026. Two-night tickets are now on sale.
