Where Are the Blockbuster Soundtracks? The Screen Has Gone Dark for Hit Movie Albums Since ‘Wicked' & ‘Twisters'
For the eighth week in a row, not a single soundtrack appears in the top half of the Billboard 200. That's the longest such shutout since 2021, when the pandemic disrupted moviegoing and as a result, diminished the opportunities for hit soundtracks. For 13 consecutive weeks that year, from July 31 to Oct. 23, no soundtracks appeared in the top 100. Twisters: The Album is the highest-ranking soundtrack on this week's Billboard 200, but it's way down at No. 174. The album, which was led by Luke Combs' hit single 'Ain't No Love in Oklahoma,' debuted and peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 last August and spent its first four weeks in the top 10. More from Billboard 'Twisters: The Album' Blows in at No. 7 on Billboard 200: How Does That Compare to 1996 'Twister' Soundtrack? Addison Rae Announces Dates For Debut 2025 Headlining World Tour How Brandon Lake Is Leading A Whole New Flock To 'What's Real And What's True' In Christian Music This is the album's 24th nonconsecutive week atop Top Soundtracks. That's the longest stay at No. 1 for a soundtrack in one release cycle since Barbie: The Album logged 33 weeks at No. 1 in 2023-24. Both of these soundtracks had long runs at No. 1 in part because there wasn't much fresh competition from hit soundtracks. For the past eight weeks, Twisters: The Album has headed Top Soundtracks without appearing in the top 100 on the Billboard 200. Likewise, for the last 10 weeks that Barbie: The Album headed Top Soundtracks, it did not appear in the top half of the Billboard 200. The soundtrack business is cyclical. Just as Wicked shook up the soundtrack scene in December when it entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2 (and spent its first eight weeks in the top 10), another hit soundtrack could appear soon and revive the fortunes of this venerable genre. Smurfs Movie Soundtrack (Music From & Inspired By) — which includes 'Friend of Mine,' Rihanna's first new song in three years — could break into the top 100 next week. If not, F1: The Album, featuring such artists as Don Toliver featuring Doja Cat, ROSÉ, Myke Towers and Tate McRae, is expected to be a smash after it is released on June 27. The album is being released by Atlantic Records and Apple Video Programming. Atlantic released several of the other top-selling soundtracks of recent years, including The Greatest Showman, Barbie: The Album and Twisters: The Album. Best of Billboard Chart Rewind: In 1989, New Kids on the Block Were 'Hangin' Tough' at No. 1 Four Decades of 'Madonna': A Look Back at the Queen of Pop's Debut Album on the Charts Chart Rewind: In 1990, Madonna Was in 'Vogue' Atop the Hot 100

Marvel Stadium ranked in 2025 Pollstar Mid-Year Top 50 Worldwide Stadium list
Don't miss out on the headlines from Victoria. Followed categories will be added to My News. Melbourne's Marvel Stadium has been ranked in the top five sport and entertainment venues in the world for the first time. The Herald Sun can reveal the AFL-owned ground has been ranked Australia's top stadium in a global study, outpointing the MCG, Adelaide Oval, SCG, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane and Optus Stadium in Perth. The Docklands venue ranked in the top 10 in the 2025 Pollstar Mid-Year Top 50 Worldwide Stadium rankings for both tickets and gross sales. Marvel Stadium was ranked the highest Australian venue in Pollstar's top 50 list, joining the likes of Mexico's Estadio GNP Seguros, California's SoFi Stadium and Japan's Tokyo Dome as international venues in the top 10. Measured between November 14, 2024 and May 14, 2025, Pollstar ranked Marvel Stadium as fifth in the world for highest-grossing stadiums and seventh for highest stadium ticket sales. During that period, more than 111,200 fans packed Marvel Stadium to see US country artist Luke Combs, 54,600 flocked to see punk pop rockers Green Day, and 108,100 rocked out to Pearl Jam. The data crunch also took in patronage for AFL matches featuring the likes of Essendon, Western Bulldogs and St Kilda. Marvel Stadium general manager Scott Fitzgerald said the ranking reinforced the venue's place on the international touring map. 'To be named among the best stadiums on the global stage is a true testament to the investment and innovation that has gone into evolving Marvel Stadium into a world-class, 365-day multipurpose venue that is delivering unforgettable experiences for fans, artists, and athletes alike,' he said. The milestone marks the first time Marvel Stadium has been recognised in the top five venues for grossing stadiums, following its eighth position in the same list in 2023. Mr Fitzgerald said: 'Melbourne is a city that lives and breathes sport and live entertainment, and we're proud that Marvel Stadium is continuing to shine on an international stage and creating experiences that rival the world's best.' It was the highest Aussie stadium in Pollstar's top 50, surpassing fellow Australian sites Accor Stadium, Flemington Racecourse, Brisbane Showgrounds and ENGIE Stadium. And it is the second global ranking recognition Marvel Stadium has received in the past year after its number one top-grossing concert revenue result for October in the 2024 Billboard Boxscore rankings. Marvel trailed only Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, SoFi Stadium in the US, Allianz Parque in Brazil and Mexico's Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for gross sales. It was the seventh top arena based on ticket sales, behind Estadio GNP Seguros, Allianz Parquel, Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez and SoFi Stadium. While footy rules in Melbourne during winter, the venue will host some more big acts this year including Oasis, Metallica, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey and Wrexham AFC's tour Down Under.

Bonnaroo Music Festival canceled due to severe weather, flooding: Refunds and info
Bonnaroo Music Festival canceled due to severe weather, flooding: Refunds and info Show Caption Hide Caption Coachella campers face festival traffic nightmare Coachella campers arrived ahead of the start of the famed festival only to face massive traffic lines. The 2025 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival was canceled after one day due to severe weather and flooding. Heavy rainfall swamped the main venue, Centeroo, forcing the evacuation of attendees. Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival 2025 organizers have canceled the remaining three days of the buzzy annual event. Severe weather and flooding forced Bonnaroo officials to announce on June 13 that they were canceling the weekend portions of the festival. In a statement released the same day on Bonnaroo's official website and social media pages, organizers said they were "beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo." "We have put our hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year, and cannot express how crushed we are to have to make this decision," they said in their statement. "Thank you in advance for your patience, your positivity and your unfailing Bonnaroovian spirit." Bonnaroo 2025 canceled: Officials call off shows after severe weather swamps grounds Initially, festival officials suspended shows around 1 p.m. local before evacuating Centeroo — the main performance venue with six stages, soon after. For the next six hours, the inclement weather ranged from gentle showers to torrential thunderstorms. The weather dropped just about an inch of rain on Bonnarroo's hometown of Manchester, Tennessee — around an hour outside Nashville — according to the National Weather Service. The rainfall swamped Centeroo and the areas around the main stages. Attendees mud wrestled even during rain delays in mucky conditions. The only headliner to perform was country hitmaker Luke Combs on Thursday, who made history as the festival's first-ever country headliner. During his rousing set, he brought out three-time Grammy winner Miranda Lambert for support and performed a slew of hits. Tyler, the Creator, Olivia Rodrigo and Hozier were set to helm the remaining days. Bonnaroo refunds: What ticket holders can expect In their statement, Bonnaroo officials vowed to "make things right" with festivalgoers and said all one-day Friday, Saturday and Sunday admission tickets and parking purchased via Front Gate Tickets will be refunded. All four-day admission tickets and camping accommodations will receive a 75% refund. "All refunds will be processed in as little as 30 days" to the customer's original payment method, according to a refund fact sheet. Contributing: Melonee Hunt

Remainder of Bonnaroo 2025 canceled in Tennessee due to severe weather
The eagerly awaited Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has been canceled for the weekend, with severe weather impacting the area as the cause. According to the festival website, the National Weather Service's forecast for the region where the festival was to continue, in Manchester, Tennessee, pointed to 'significant and steady precipitation that will produce deteriorating camping and egress conditions in the coming days.' The organizers said they 'are beyond gutted' in their statement on the website, but continued, 'we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo.' The Bonnaroo music festival started on Thursday and was supposed to run through Sunday. Taking place on a 700-acre farm, Luke Combs headlined Thursday's performances, with Dom Dolla, Insane Clown Posse and others supporting. Friday's festivities were put on hold when the organizers issued an evacuation notice as severe weather approached. Tyler, the Creator was the intended headliner for Friday's lineup, which also was to include Glass Animals, Megadeth and Rainbow Kitten Surprise. Saturday and Sunday were slated to feature Olivia Rodrigo, Vampire Weekend, Hozier, Glorilla, Queens of the Stone Age and Avril Lavigne, among many others. Bonnaroo began in 2002 and continued until 2019, before getting interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. It picked back up in 2022. Both the main website and Bonnaroo's social media direct attendees to proper egress and evacuation protocols, as well as refund information. 'We have put our hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year, and cannot express how crushed we are to have to make this decision,' the festival statement concluded. 'Thank you in advance for your patience, your positivity and your unfailing Bonnaroovian spirit.'
