Grimsby ice rink to undergo £150k refurbishment
A community group that saved a 50-year-old ice rink from closure has raised £150,000 to fund a major revamp of the "tired" ice rink on Cromwell Road in Grimsby includes a full barrier replacement to keep it running for "years to come".Grimsby Ice Rink Community Group, which took over management of the site in 2017, secured the money through fundraising and Allan, one of the three voluntary directors, said the ice rink "wouldn't be able to continue working" without the upgrade. The revamp is due to start on 31 July and will take about a month. 'Substantial delays' likely as M62 Ouse Bridge joint fails
Drivers should expect "substantial delays" on the M62 in East Yorkshire after inspectors found a newly fitted joint on the Ouse Bridge had failed, officials have Highways said lanes one and two of the westbound carriageway, between junctions 37 and 36, are closed.A spokesperson said: "These lane closures will be in place while we carry out investigations to understand why the joint failed and we expect closures to remain for the rest of the day." Boy and three men arrested after knife incident
Four people have been arrested following a violent incident in Knottingley. Police were called to Yew Tree Walk at about 18:50 BST on Friday, following reports of a dispute involving several males, one of whom was reported to have a bladed weapon. Officers said no injuries had been reported but a 24-year old man was arrested on suspicion of affray at the scene, with a 30-year old man arrested later, on suspicion of affray and possession with intent to supply drugs. West Yorkshire Police said a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were also later arrested on suspicion of affray. All four males remain in custody. Vintage cars roll into Bridlington for beach races
Vintage vehicles have rolled into a seaside town as part of a festival of speed. Race the Waves will see cars, trucks and motorcycles race over a 200-yard course on Bridlington South Beach in East Yorkshire. Some of the vehicles have paraded on Church Green in the town ahead of the racing, which starts on Saturday. The event finishes on Sunday.
