Royal Ascot 2025 Day 5 tips and best bets as Topgear tipped to rev-up punters

Daily Record tipster Garry Owen has you covered for Royal Ascot Day 5 ROYAL ASCOT DAY FIVE TIPS 2:30 MOMENTS OF JOY 3:05 REBEL'S ROMANCE ‌ 3:40 TOPGEAR (NAP) ‌ 4:20 MARVELMAN 5:00 SYMBOL OF HONOUR 5:35 BEST SECRET 6:10 DALLAS STAR GARRY'S DOUBLE: TOPGEAR (NAP) AND MARVELMAN Topgear (3:40) will be revved-up for the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes on Day 5 of Royal Ascot. Christopher Head's charge showed potent speed when bagging a hat-trick over six furlongs at two. He held his form well over trips around a mile for the remainder of his career with Fabrice Chappett. The bay was also placed in good company over that distance on his first few starts for his new yard. He benefitted from a return to seven when cosily defeating Ten Bob Tony on a Longchamp Group 3. The six year-old hit new heights by routing Royal Scotsman in the Group 2 Challenge at Newmarket. He was even better when bolting-up from the talented Sajir on his return at Longchamp recently. The French raider looks ideally-suited to this testing six so he can power to his first Group 1 success. ‌ Moments of Joy (2:30) looks another smart juvenile for Aidan O'Brian in the Chesham Stakes. The filly wasn't overly well-fancied among a strong Ballydoyle squad on debut at Leopardstown. However, she showed a nice mix of class and guts to brush aside Little Sure Shot by a half-length. The youngster definitely has a bright future so she can deny some promising rivals upped in class. Rebel's Romance (3:05) can turn on the charm for Charlie Appleby in the Hardwicke Stakes. The seven-year-old excelled last season with a quartet of top-level victories across the globe. He warmed-up nicely for this term by comfortably defeating The Foxes in a Grade 3 at Doha. The gelding didn't enjoy the run of the race when fourth in the Sheema Classic at Meydan. He bounced back by outbattling Epic Poet over 1m 6f in the Yorkshire Cup on the Knavesmire. The Godolphin star won't mind returning to a stiff 1m 4f so he can land a slightly weaker race. Appleby can strike again with Symbol of Honour (5:00) in the Wokingham Stakes. ‌ The three-year-old wasn't disgraced in decent company over seven furlongs as a two-year-old. He benefitted from returning to six when edging-out West Acre in a valuable event at Meydan. The grey stayed upwardly mobile when decisively defeating Dark Saffron in a similar race there. He wasn't suited by a step-back up in trip when sixth to Cosmic Year in a Newmarket Listed event. The gelding hit back with a vengeance by hammering Ides Of March dropped in trip at Newbury. He then opened his Group 2 account by outpointing Arabian Dusk in the Sandy Lane at Haydock. The son of Havana Grey looks fairly-treated for his handicap debut so he can make his class tell. Marvelman (4:20) looks super-powered for Andrew Balding in the Jersey Stakes. The colt showed promise when second to Bob Mali in a strong six-furlong Salisbury novice. He improved again when chasing home Spirit Of Farhh over an extra half-furlong at Newbury. The three-year-old relished tackling seven when routing Shameful on his return at Kempton. He was then unlucky to encounter Cosmic Year in the Listed Charles II Stakes at Newmarket. That is high-class form so the Kingsclere contender can bag another hot renewal of this Group 3. ‌ Best Secret (5:35) can be a rare Gallic handicap winner here in the Golden Gates Stakes. Stephane Wattel's bay made steady progress in three outings in maiden company last term. The three-year-old stayed 1m 2f well when giving Parachutiste on his return at Saint-Cloud. He really excelled himself by hosing-up from Good Speed in a valuable Longchamp handicap. The gelding looks group-class so he can cash-in on a nice piece of placing under James Doyle. Dallas Star (6:10) can sparkle for Andrew Murray in the Queen Alexandra Stakes. The colt was outclassed when well-beaten behind City Of Troy in last season's Derby at Epsom. ‌ The bay returned with an easy win at Dundalk only to lose his way again over middle distances. He was revived by a step-up to 1m 6f when chasing home the mighty Kyprios at Leopardstown. The four-year-old then plugged-on well late to take third over two miles at Down Royal recently. Team Amo's hops looked ready to tackle this marathon distance so he can shade a trappy event. Mo of Cairo (4:10) can leave his rivals in the dust on Unite Summer Raceday at Ayr. Kevin Ryan's colt can score with a repeat of his fine debut second to Azizam at Hamilton. Classy Al (4:50) can cap a magnificent week for Jim Goldie in the John Gillespie Handicap. The four-time course winner remains well-treated after crushing Winged Messenger at Hamilton. The Uplawmoor Ace can stay on song with Woohoo (8:08) in the Eco Energy Handicap. The speedster was only denied a four-timer by the progressive Canon's House at Hamilton. That looks respectable form so the gelding can gain compensation in these calmer waters. Westerton (5:25) looks the best of Alan King's raiding party in the Johnstone Rose Bowl. The useful hurdler was a game third to Ecureuil Secret over an inadequate 1m 2f at Epsom. The five-year-old still lurks on an inviting mark so she can strike over this more suitable trip. First Instinct (5:55) can claim the trappy Land O'Burns Stakes for William Haggas. The filly ran another stormer when third to Symbol Of Honour in a Group 2 at Haydock. That was a warm event so the sprinter can resume winning ways down in trip and class. Mecca's Symphony (7.38) can call the tune for Michael Dods in the Bridgend Handicap. The three-year-old can build on her encouraging third behind Frankies Dream at Doncaster.

Royal Ascot day 4 tips: Zarigana can land Coronation Stakes

French raiders have seemingly struggled to cope with the fast ground at Royal Ascot this week but underfoot conditions should hold no fears for Zarigana and she can land the Coronation Stakes (4.20) on Friday. A top-class juvenile last season, she suffered her only defeat when a nose second to stablemate Vertical Blue in the Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp, when she had her head up on the line and her conqueror's head was outstretched. Zarigana did well to collar the front-running Shes Perfect in a slowly-run race on her reappearance at Longchamp, and it was a similar story in the French 1,000 Guineas last time as she stayed on strongly to force a photo-finish with the same rival, having again been unsuited by the slow early tempo. She was awarded that classic in the stewards' room, having received a bump a furlong out and being beaten by a nose. Most French races are run at a slow early pace and that does not suit Zarigana, who is best when held up for a late run. This contest should be truly run, with the unbeaten Falakeyah needing a good test at this trip and likely to make the early pace, alongside Aidan O'Brien's second string Exactly. That could set the race up ideally for and she can prove a cut above this field. Oh Cecilia impressed with the way that she travelled through the race and quickened to win easily at Cork last time, beating the useful Rogue Legend in fine style. She is bred to be much more effective now that she steps up in trip and Oh Cecilia is fancied to break the hearts of fellow Irish raiders Signora and Green Sense. After just failing to see out the mile trip when a close third in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, Shadow Of Light looks the one to beat back sprinting here. A brilliant juvenile last year, landing group one wins in both the Middle Park and Dewhurst, he could be just too good for main rival Babouche. Of those at bigger prices, Sky Majesty makes some each-way appeal at 25-1. He needed the run when losing his unbeaten record at Chelmsford but he still has plenty of potential. French Duke goes well at this track and, having been gelded since last season, he can make light of a nine-month absence. He improved on his final two starts last term, winning at Goodwood and then finishing second in a valuable handicap here. Unexposed after six starts, he looks the type to improve again this year. Persuasive won this race in 2016 before going on to win at the highest level and her daughter, Cajole, can follow in her hoofprints. An easy winner at Newcastle, she looked set to follow up at Wolverhampton only to be collared late by the hugely exciting Nahraan. Cajole looks well treated on her handicap debut. The unbeaten Amiloc is favourite after winning impressively at Goodwood but he might lack the class of Nightwalker. The latter was unsuited by softer ground when below par in the Derby at Epsom but he had previously shaped really well when fifth in the Dante Stakes at York — and he can return to form under ideal conditions. Realign was beaten on both starts as a juvenile, bumping into the top-class Shadow Of Light on his debut at Newmarket and then failing to stay seven furlongs in a hot maiden at York. He could not have been more impressive when winning on his reappearance at Salisbury and could develop into a useful sprinter this season. World Pool ambassador Ryan Moore talks through his big rides on day three of Royal Ascot

LOGICALLY speaking, this racing game is a biological sport — it's all down to breeding. And CHARLES DARWIN (2.30) is bred to be one of the elite. He's a son of brilliant sprinter No Nay Never and a brother to Blackbeard, who was fourth in the Coventry as a two-year-old and won the Group 1 Middle Park at three. Advertisement 1 Ryan Moore talks through his rides on day three at Ascot Credit: Shutterstock Editorial Charles Darwin has three runs under his belt, which is a big help coming to a stage like Royal Ascot. He won his last two starts pretty comfortably and sets the standard for this five-furlong dash. I had the choice of SERIOUS CONTENDER (3.05), Propose and Light As Air in the King Charles Stakes. They are all nice sorts but I decided on Serious Contender who has been put away since winning at Leopardstown on his reappearance this season. He's in good shape. Light Of Air was probably unlucky not to beat Serious Contender the last time at Leopardstown and the step up in trip will suit him. In the Ribblesdale, I'm on GARDEN OF EDEN (3.40) who won a Listed race at Naas and is a tough filly who will be suited by the step up in trip. Advertisement She found plenty for pressure and showed a good attitude, so I'm looking forward to getting back on her. Stablemate Ecstatic is a likeable filly too. She's got lots of ability and we're yet to see the best of her. Hopefully, ILLINOIS (4.20) can prove to be a good replacement for Kyprios in the Gold Cup. Illinois has never gone this far but I've won it on a couple of four-year-olds who came into the race with the same profile. He won the Queen's Vase here last year, is a winner of the St Leger, won well at Longchamp on his final start last season and then made a winning return at Chester this year. He gives every impression he'll stay and likes quick ground. Candelaria is another four-year-old who is open to improvement, while Trawlerman has been here and got the T-shirt so is a solid challenger. Advertisement Most read in Horse Racing It's not quite as hot as it can get in the SERENGETI (5.00) but he takes his chance in the Ascot Stakes. He made the running in the French Guineas but faded. This is a drop in class but it's hard to know his level. TRINITY COLLEGE (5.35) comes into this meeting off the back of a very good fourth in the French Derby and has every chance of winning this on all known form. Detain finished just ahead of him in that, so is a worthy favourite. Reyenzi is an outsider to look out for. I'm riding ROI DE FRANCE (6.10) for John Gosden in the last. He's got to carry plenty of weight but has run well in some very hot handicaps. He is capable of making the frame. Royal Ascot: Coronation Stakes attracts 11 fillies

Falakeyah and Zarigana top 11 contenders for Friday's Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. The Owen Burrows-trained Falakeyah was supplemented for the mile Group One following an effortless Listed win in Newmarket's Pretty Polly Stakes, with connections opting by bypass a possible Prix de Diane run. Francis-Henri Graffard's Zarigana was crowned winner of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches in the Longchamp stewards' room following the demotion of Shes Perfect to second and she will clash again with fourth-placed Exactly, who is one of two for Aidan O'Brien along with January. Ollie Sangster fields both Flight and Simmering, second and third in the 1000 Guineas, with Duty First, Kon Tiki, Cathedral, Cercene and Chantilly Lace completing the field. The Commonwealth Cup has drawn a bumper field of 22, headed by 2000 Guineas third Shadow Of Light, who will be dropping back to six furlongs for Charlie Appleby. Babouche, Jonquil, Whistlejacket, Ides Of March and Big Mojo are other leading names in the Group One contest, for which only Seattle was not declared. The opening Albany Stakes boasts a 17-strong line up, with Karl Burke having made no secret of his regard for ante-post favourite Venetian Sun. Fitzella, Gold Digger and O'Brien's Signora are also towards the head of the betting. Derby seventh Green Storm and 12th Nightwalker bid for compensation in the King Edward VII Stakes, in which Ralph Beckett's unbeaten gelding Amiloc is set to be a popular choice. Puppet Master won the Lingfield Derby Trial but bypassed Epsom and he is one of two for O'Brien along with Naas winner Galveston. Dante third Wimbledon Hawkeye runs for James Owen, while the progressive Zahrann represents Johnny Murtagh. Teumessias Fox heads a maximum 19-strong field for the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes, with 28 to go to post in both the Palace of Holyrood House Stakes and the Sandringham.

Royal Ascot tips: Map Of Stars and 33-1 shot can strike for France

M ap Of Stars has been beaten just twice in his seven starts, having valid excuses on each occasion, and the French raider can take the featured Prince Of Wales's Stakes (4.20) at Royal Ascot on Wednesday. Trained by Francis Graffard, Map Of Stars has been brought along steadily and is still improving. He was far too good for the useful Horizon Dore in group two company at Longchamp in April and looked a little unlucky not to follow up in the group one Prix Ganay at the same track last time, having found his path blocked as the sprint for home began. In the circumstances, he did well to get within a neck of the top-class Sosie. A strongly-run race looks likely here, with Certain Lad a confirmed front-runner and Aidan O'Brien's Continuous seemingly in the field to act as a pacemaker for stablemate Los Angeles. That will suit Map Of Stars, who has the ability to quicken off a fast pace, and he can take a fascinating contest. Los Angeles won last year's Irish Derby but, while coped with this shorter trip when proving a half-length too good for Anmaat at the Curragh last month, he is ideally suited by further.
