Hamish Blake's chilli eating contest ends in tears on Lego Masters Australia

A last minute food challenge ended in tears for Lego Masters host Hamish Blake during Monday's episode of the quirky game show. The 43-year-old funnyman persuaded Team China 's Dai and Jiayuan to a chilli eating contest. However, after just a few bites of the large spicy vegetable Hamish was left short of breath. He was barely able to choke out his comments while he watched Dai and Jiayun built their 'Chilli Girl' Lego model. Meanwhile, the Team China contestants were able to eat the chilli, without any adverse reaction at all, as Hamish drank milk to soothe his palette. At Nando's I always have Lemon and Herb,' Hamish choked, in reference to the famous peri-peri chicken brand. 'I have personally learned that you should not do a chilli eating contest against a woman from the Sichuan Province of China,' he confessed. It comes after Hamish cut a casual figure when he stepped out to attend the 2025 Logie Award nominations in Sydney on Monday. The fan favourite host embraced quiet luxury in an A.P.C. 'Edward' jersey sweater that retails for a whopping $650. The TV veteran completed his low-key winter look with khaki slacks and crisp white trainers, and a cheeky grin. And Hamish had a lot to smile about. The beloved comedian has once again been nominated for the coveted Gold Logie, after taking home the gong in 2012 for Hamish and Andy's Gap Year and in 2022 for Lego Masters. Lynne McGranger, 72, who played Irene Roberts on the soap opera Home and Away for over 33 years, also earned a Gold Logie nomination. Also nominated for the number one gong is A Current Affair's Ally Langdon, 46, who won Best News or Public Affairs Presenter last year. Former ABC News Breakfast presenter Lisa Millar, 56, is also in the running for the top prize for her work on Backroads and Muster Dogs. MasterChef Australia's Poh Ling Yeow, 51, also scored a nomination, after speculation that she may be stepping back from the beloved cooking show. Julia Morris, 57, is set to battle it out for the Gold Logie too after hosting Network 10's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in South Africa alongside conservationist Robert Irwin. Completing the list of nominations is Dancing With The Stars' Sonia Kruger, 59, who is up for the number one gong again, after nabbing a Gold Logie back in 2023. Ray Martin, 80, who has made a name for himself on programs such as 60 Minutes, A Current Affair and Four Corners, also came out on tops in the Logie nominations on Monday. The five-time Gold Logie winner is set to join Graham Kennedy and Bert Newton with an award named in his honour, crowning Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter at the Aussie awards. The 65th TV WEEK Logie Awards nominees were announced on Monday in the Yallamundi Rooms at the Sydney Opera House, highlighting the very best of TV talent in Australia. Voting will open for all awards from 9am on Monday June 16 and remain open until 7pm on Friday August 1. The ceremony will be available to watch on Seven and 7Plus.

Robert Irwin has rushed to congratulate his I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! co-host Julia Morris after the TV veteran scored a Gold Logie nomination this week. Both were nominated for the coveted award in 2024, but Robert missed out this year. Julia, 57, gushed over Robert's reaction during an appearance on Nova's Fitzy, Wippa and Kate Ritchie program on Tuesday. The veteran comedian, who celebrates 40 years on Australian TV this year, said that he called her on Monday to tell her that the nomination was 'fantastic' and 'well deserved'. 'He does not miss a trick, Robert,' she said during the segment, in which she could barely contain her excitement over the news. So yeah, getting to share this experience of the jungle with him has been amazing.' Elsewhere in the chat, Julia made reference to her roots in Gosford on the Central Coast of NSW. 'Gosford has never been prouder,' Julia said, adding that this is fourth time she has been up for prestigious TV gong. Meanwhile, co-host Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald suggested that Julia could enlist Robert to help raise some votes for the prize. 'We love this man. Is there any chance that you can use the 58 million followers that he has on social media to help with your campaign Julia?' 'Yes! It should be called let's get Coastal Grandma all the way to the finish line,' she replied. Robert's warm response to Julia's news comes after the fan favourite was nominated for a Gold Logie in 2024, after joining I'm a Celebrity... as co-host the same year. Meanwhile, Home and Away favourite Lynne McGranger, 72, who played Irene Roberts on the soap opera Home and Away for over 33 years, finally scored a Gold Logie nomination. Farmer Wants A Wife fans brutally slam show after series nabs Logie nomination: 'Worst season ever'

Farmer Wants A Wife has been nominated for a Logie - but the exciting news hasn't landed well with die-hard fans of the Seven series. It's no secret that viewers have been left feeling disheartened following the latest season, pointing out editing fails, over-dramatised scenes and unnecessary villain edits. Some have even gone so far as to label it the 'worst season ever'. But despite criticism, the series' 15th instalment has nabbed a nomination for Best Structured Reality Program, which the show announced via Instagram on Monday. 'Yeeehaaw! #FarmerAU has been nominated for Best Structured Reality Program for the 2025 TV Week Logie Awards,' the post read. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Fans of the reality series poured into the comments section, with a majority of them feeling pretty fed up over the nomination. 'No way it has been the worst ever,' one person wrote. 'Worst season ever, way better in the earlier seasons before intended drama and villain's had to take over,' another pointed out. One fan angrily penned: 'WTF - This was the worst season EVER - It was a Temu version of MAFS....' it use to be a wholesome TV show, now it's a joke all for ratings, well I didn't even finish watching it because it was pathetic,' they continued. 'Sorry, not best reality program. Structured or not, whatever that implies,' another chimed in. Despite the negative sentiment in the comments section, the show's TV ratings have been positive. So much so that last week Tuesday, the Seven series triumphed in the overnight ratings, leaving popular shows like MasterChef Australia in the dust. It's no secret that viewers have been left feeling disheartened following the latest season, pointing out editing fails, over-dramatised scenes and unnecessary villain edits The wholesome dating show scored an impressive total national audience of 853,000 viewers. Over on Nine the latest season of Lego Masters Australian managed a far less impressive rating with a total of 741,000 tuning in to the quirky contest. MasterChef Australia on the 10 Network managed 648,000 - a slight improvement from this time last week when it won 619,000 viewers. The ratings numbers for the national average combine the audience watching on broadcast and as well as viewer-on-demand in metro and regional areas.

Beloved comedian Denise Scott reveals she was rushed to hospital after drinking HAND SANITISER amid battle with 'aggressive' cancer

Denise Scott has revealed how she accidentally drank hand sanitiser on the set of her ABC sitcom, Mother And Son. The beloved Australian comedian, 70, who was nominated for a Logie Award for her lead role in the show last year, said the mishap saw her rushed to hospital. Appearing on The Project on Monday night, Denise explained how she mistook the substance for water. 'I rock up,first time I've been in a sitcom, I'm the lead, I'm so scared' she began the story. 'And it's a really hot day, and this young runner has driven me to set, and I was so nervous that I pulled the water, I'm like guzzling. Then I think, "What have I just drunk?"' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'It wasn't water. It was hand sanitiser! It had liquefied in the Sydney heat.' Denise said the crew rushed to get her medical attention after the unfortunate episode. 'They think, "Right, that's it. Filming's stopped. Get the ambulance for Denise. It's cancer-related." I'm choking' she said. 'Anyway, that stuff is like 95 or 96 percent proof. I was out of my mind the whole day.' Denise recovered from the mishap, and is also in recovery following an intense 17 months of breast cancer treatment amid her battle with an 'aggressive' form of the disease. Denise was diagnosed with cancer near the start of 2023 and revealed the shock news publicly shortly after. She detailed her 'pretty much non-stop' 17 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments to fight the 'particularly aggressive' form of breast cancer. Denise took to Facebook to reveal that she had undergone her last day of chemotherapy after first starting the treatment back in February 2023. 'Yesterday was my last day of chemo. I've been having treatment for breast cancer HER2 positive pretty much non-stop for 17 months,' she shared alongside a picture of herself in hospital. The TV star went on to detail the months-long stints of chemotherapy and other treatments she has undergone over the past year and a half amid her cancer battle. She went on: 'Feb 2023-May 2023 Chemo, June 2023 lumpectomy and removal of lymph nodes from right arm pit, August 2023-Sept 2023 Daily Radiation sessions for 6 weeks, (and) Aug 2023- May 2024 9 more months of Chemo.' Denise confirmed that her latest mammogram was 'clear' as she thanked her fans for their support amid the difficult time. 'For now, at least, the treatment has done its job,' she penned. 'Latest mammogram was clear. I lost all my hair (in) the first round of chemo, then got these thin white, quite frankly disappointing, tufts grow in (the) second round - different sort of chemo. 'So many people to thank and acknowledge. But for now I'll leave it there. Thank you for yr lovely messages.' (sic) The media personality and former star of The Project first spoke about her cancer diagnosis to The Australian Women's Weekly. She told how she was first diagnosed with breast cancer while working on the Mother and Son reboot, but bravely carried on shooting the project. 'I do console myself that at least I've lived a full life that I'm happy with,' Denise told the publication. 'But I don't want to go yet. There are things I want to do.' Denise said she was leaning on her partner John Lane for support, adding: 'The prognosis has continued to be good, and there's a lot of hope.' Denise met John when they performed together as clowns on a theatre production in Albury, New South Wales. The couple have been together for more than 40 years but they never got married, with Denise previously saying it wasn't something either of them focused on. Denise stars in the ABC reboot of the series Mother And Son, which famously had Ruth Cracknell in the role of Maggie Beare. Considered one of the greatest of all home made classics, Mother & Son debuted on the ABC in 1984. The iconic sitcom starred Gary McDonald as a bewildered adult son trying to cope with his ageing mother, played by the late Cracknell. In the re-boot, comedian Matt Okine now plays Arthur, who moves in to look after the recently widowed Maggie (Scott), who may or may not have burnt down the kitchen in the family home. As in the original, the reboot sees Maggie run rings around her well-meaning family. Also featured in the cast of the re-boot are Angela Nica Sullen who plays Arthur's older sister Robbie and Fat Pizza's Jean Kittson. Tiriel Mora from the 90s classic comedy Frontline also stars along with Virginia Gay from Winner and Losers and Catherine Văn-Davies (The Twelve). The original show won over audiences for its funny and poignant depiction of the challenges adult children often face when dealing with an ageing parent who suffers from 'memory loss' (actually, dementia). Maggie (Cracknell) became a fan favourite as she seemed to spend most of her waking hours 'out smarting' everyone, especially Arthur (McDonald), who was left to wonder just how 'out of it' she really might be.
