Illegal BT Cotton Seeds Worth Rs12 Lakh Seized in Ballarpur; Two Booked
Chandrapur: In a joint operation, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Ballarpur police seized banned BT cotton seeds worth Rs12 lakh along with a vehicle valued at Rs1.5 lakh on Visapur-Ballarpur Road. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Acting on a tip-off, the police team stopped a Tata Ace vehicle and found 800 packets of illegally stored BT Pushpa 5T hybrid cotton seeds, each priced at Rs1,500. The seeds were being transported without valid permission. After the agriculture department confirmed the seeds were unauthorised, police registered a case against driver Imran Khan Nasir Khan (37), a resident of Chandrapur, and the owner of the consignment, Sumit Nagrale from Ashti in Gadchiroli district. An offence has been registered at Ballarpur police station. Police believe the seeds were meant for illegal sale before the sowing season, which could have posed serious risks to both farmers and the environment. The field action was led by inspectors Amol Kachore, Shyam Gawhane, PSI Deepak Kokendwar, and teams from the LCB Chandrapur and Ballarpur police station.

Lender killed by kin for asking them to repay Rs 25,000 loan
Rajkot: A dispute over Rs 25,000 loan turned fatal for the lender who was allegedly murdered his two relative in Jakhaniya village of Kutch's Mandvi taluka on Thursday. Chintan Gor, the victim, was stabbed to death by Jigar Gor (31) and Jay Gor (20). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Jigar was enraged as Chintan kept reminding him to repay Rs 25,000 he had lent him a few months ago. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested both assailants from Madhapar village later in the day. On Thursday, Chintan again called Jigar requesting repayment as he needed the money for a family function. Jigar asked Chintan to come to Jakhaniya village to collect the money. When Chintan and Priyen reached there, Jigar told him to come at a nearby temple. As soon as they reached there, Jigar assaulted him while Jay stabbed him with a knife. Priyen rushed Chintan to a hospital where he succumbed. Investigation officer H M Vaghela of Kodai police station said Chintan was involved in agricultural work. Jigar is also a farmer, while Jay works at a roadside food stall.

Cops bust Kalmeshwar thefts, arrest two, recover stolen property
Nagpur: Two theft cases reported in Kalmeshwar have been solved following the arrest of two accused by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Nagpur Rural. The duo was found involved in separate incidents of house theft, with stolen items collectively worth Rs21,000 recovered during the investigation. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Acting on a tip-off, the LCB team detained Kurdan Gautam Hire (25) from Pipri, Kanhan, and Shubham Balram Harinkhede (24) from Katangi in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district. Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime. According to police sources, the two jointly committed one of the thefts, while Hire was found to be the sole accused in the second incident. The team recovered an Aqua motor pump worth Rs10,000, a 50-foot cable valued at Rs5,000, iron pipes and a broken bicycle worth Rs2,000, and a coil of electric wire worth Rs4,000. The seized items were recovered in the presence of panch witnesses, and both accused have been handed over to Kalmeshwar police for further investigation. Efforts are on to trace additional stolen property and verify if the accused were involved in other similar cases in the region. Illegal arms making unit busted in Morbi house
Rajkot: Acting on a tip-off, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Morbi arrested a man, Salim Malani alias Miyana, from Chikhli village in Maliya Miyana taluka for allegedly running an illegal country-made firearm manufacturing unit from his residence. Another accused, Siddiq Kajediya alias Miyana, who purchased a firearm from him is currently absconding. During interrogation, Salim admitted that he had learned how to manufacture and repair firearms by watching YouTube videos. He revealed that he had been making 12-bore single-barrel country-made guns for the past two to three years using various tools in the backyard of his house. He also disclosed that he was currently engaged in both manufacturing and repairing these firearms for different clients. The police recovered two 12-bore single-barrel country-made guns, two electric welding machines, two electric grinder machines, one drill machine, iron rods and welding tools, two electric boards, sixty 12-bore cartridges, two plastic bottles containing gunpowder, 111 small iron pellets, welding goggles, scissors, and a metal roll container. During questioning, Salim confessed to having sold a firearm to Siddiq. He further stated that Siddiq had also left the weapon with him for repair. Based on this information, the police have filed a case against Siddiq as well under relevant sections of the Arms Act.

Nashik Rural police seize drugs worth 8.5L in month-long drive
Nashik: The Nashik rural police conducted a successful month-long operation in May, targeting the sale, consumption, and transportation of narcotic drugs and products across the district's rural areas. This initiative led to the seizure of narcotic products valued at Rs 8.49 lakh. During the drive, the police registered a total of 22 cases and arrested 29 individuals. Seized items included over 36 kg of ganja — valued at more than Rs 7.21 lakh. The police also confiscated 8,610 tablets of alprazolam, locally known as 'Kutta Goli', worth Rs 1.14 lakh. Additionally, 50 bottles of 100 ml Codeine phosphate, valued at Rs 9,500, and over 4 kg of Bhang, worth more than Rs 3,000, were seized. Senior police officials confirmed that this special drive was undertaken under the guidance of Nashik Range IG (Special) Dattatray Karale. Personnel from all 40 police stations of Nashik Rural and the Local Crime Branch intensified their intelligence gathering efforts concerning drug sales and consumption. Throughout the month, the police also identified eight individuals who were found smoking ganja. A senior police officer, while talking to TOI, said under the guidance of SP Balasaheb Patil more activities have been planned to eliminate the menace of drugs from the rural district. "Alprazolam tablets are sold clandestinely in Malegaon on a large scale. We are keeping a special focus on the sale of these tablets in the town, apart from the smuggling of other drugs and banned products in the rural district," the officer said. Patil, additional SP of Malegaon Teghbir Singh Sandhu, and other senior officers have appealed to the in-charge officers of all the police stations to go all out to eliminate the menace of drugs from the rural district.
