Linkin Park's Debut Smash Becomes A Landmark Hit For The Band

The full-length saw the group reform with new members and produce highly-desired new music for the first time in years, following a hiatus taken after the death of frontman Chester Bennington. Just weeks after releasing a deluxe edition of From Zero, which included several new cuts, the project has completely disappeared from the Billboard charts. Only a handful of tunes from the effort are still present. That doesn't mean Linkin Park is fading, though, as the group's back catalog remains incredibly popular. In fact, the band continues to dominate one tally in the United States, and the rock outfit's leader has nothing to do with its latest drop. Linkin Park is once again in charge of the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. 'In the End' stands out as the most successful hard rock cut in the U.S. on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Decades after its release, it still manages to outpace every other tune by the band — even those released more recently. As 'In the End' holds at No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, the track earns its milestone tenth week ruling that list. That's a first for the group, which has long reigned as one of the most commercially successful in the genre. Linkin Park has only collected three leaders on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. 'In the End' is actually the most recent of the trio, following both 'Lost' and 'The Emptiness Machine.' The track only hit the top spot in October 2024 — a month after 'The Emptiness Machine' introduced the band's upcoming album From Zero and debuted in first place. 'In the End' has now spent more time at No. 1 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally than both 'The Emptiness Machine' and 'Lost' combined. 'Lost' managed just one frame atop the ranking in February 2023, while 'The Emptiness Machine' collected five. Both 'In the End' and 'Numb' are still tied as Linkin Park's longest-running tracks on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs list, as each has accrued 263 appearances on the list, holding on for just over five years. 'Numb' has never managed to rule, unlike 'In the End.' It has come close, as it's stalled in the runner-up space. It's one of several tracks by the band that has come close, but never reached the summit.

Linkin Park's new lead singer, Emily Armstrong, fulfilled a fan's wish by shaving their hair live on stage during a performance at Rock for People in Czechia Linkin Park's new lead singer, Emily Armstrong, delighted one concert-goer by shaving their hair live on stage during one of the band's performances. The New Divide stars were in Czechia for their headline set at Rock for People this week when one fan begged them to shave their hair. In the crowd, the fan held up a sign which read: "Emily, cut my hair!" and halfway through the show, Emily brought him up on stage and produced clippers out of nowhere to fulfil the fan's wish. Emily, ever the barber, gave him an incredible half-mullet, half-buzzcut and told him: "We gotta leave some at the back for the party, baby!" The fan, who originally had long locks, seemed delighted by the results as he turned around to thank the singer. After cutting his hair, Emily held up the sign that the fan brought with him. The Papercut rockers announced their return last summer following a seven-year hiatus after Chester took his own life in 2017, but the musician insisted that the band would not be "rewritten" following heavy criticism of the move to put Emily front and centre. Mike Shinoda said to BBC Radio 1's New Music Show: "This is intended to be a new chapter of Linkin Park. The old chapter was a great chapter, and we loved that chapter. "It ran its course and now we were faced with a challenge of: 'Well, OK, if you start from scratch with another voice, what do you do?'" Mike explained that he had been writing music with Dead Sara singer Emily since 2019 and that they never planned to "start the band up again". At the end of this month, Linkin Park will be performing at Wembley Stadium. The group will be supported by two incredible acts, first of which is Spiritbox. The Courtney LaPlante-fronted metalcore outfit will be hitting Wembley Stadium for the first time in their career for this night of entertainment. Secondly, JPEGMAFIA will be supporting Linkin Park. The American rapper is a New York local who will no doubt fit right into Linkin Park's repertoire. After London, the band are heading to Germany, Belgium, Poland and France before heading back to the US for dates in New York, Illinois, Tennessee and more.

Linkin Park Shares the Rappers They Still Want to Work With
Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda has shouted out Doechii as one of his dream collaborators. In a sit-down with Drink Champs, Linkin Park's Shinoda and Joe Hahn rattled off a few of the biggest hip-hop figures they'd love to make music with. On Shinoda's list was Wu-Tang Clan, Kendrick Lamar, Tyler, the Creator and André 3000. He then added Ms. Lauryn Hill and gave a special shout out to Queen Latifah. 'She's so confident and she's not like selling sex,' Shinoda said around the 1:30 mark, adding, 'She felt like a role model.' If any of these collaborations do happen, it would hardly mark the first time LP teamed up with a hip-hop star. In the piece, the Paramore singer praised the Swamp Princess in part for her memorable performance at the 2022 BET Awards. 'Watching her on that stage, I had the same feeling I did the first time I saw Missy Elliott on MTV as a kid,' Williams said. 'It was raw, bold, unmistakable talent — the kind that doesn't wait for permission. She came out swinging, and I remember thinking, 'Oh, she's taking it. This is hers.''
