Paramount+, Gaumont & Fremantle Team Up On Thriller Series ‘The Revenge Club' Starring Martin Compston, Aimée-Ffion Edwards, Meera Syal & More
EXCLUSIVE: Paramount+ UK & Ireland has commissioned UK thriller series The Revenge Club (w/t), with Slow Horses and Peaky Blinders star Aimée-Ffion Edwards alongside Line Of Duty star Martin Compston in the lead roles of Emily and Calum. Based on the upcoming debut novel The Othello Club by J.D. Pennington, the series follows six strangers brought together by a divorce support group who quickly transform from therapy-seeking victims into architects of retribution. With little in common beyond their pain, they form an unlikely bond. What begins as a cathartic outlet quickly spirals into something far more dangerous. Rights were acquired from Rosie Gurtovoy at PFD. Production is underway in the UK. Also joining the cast are Aoife Kennan (Vera) and Rob Malone (The Witcher) as Rosa and Leon – the two police officers investigating the murders – along with Niamh Walsh (Jamestown), Wil Coban (The Boys in the Boat), Christina Bennington (Halo) and Eoin Duffy (The Dry). Alison Jackson and Jess Connell executive-produce for the UK division of Gaumont. Outside the UK & Ireland, the series is produced by Gaumont in association with Fremantle, which also handles international sales. The series has been created by Gabbie Asher (The Tattooist of Auschwitz) who also serves as an executive producer alongside J.D. Pennington, with episodes written by Matt Jones (The Split) and Adam Usden (Lupin). Tim Kirkby (Fleabag) is the lead director alongside Daniel O'Hara (Stay Close) and Margot Gavan Duffy serves as the producer. The drama was commissioned by Sebastian Cardwell, Deputy Chief Content Officer, UK, and Paul Testar, Commissioning Editor, for Paramount+ UK & Ireland. On the new series order, Cardwell said: 'The Revenge Club is a sharp, stylish and darkly funny thriller, brought to life by a brilliant cast and an exceptional creative team. We're thrilled to be part of this gripping project and to champion it as a standout addition to our expanding slate of bold, original UK content.' Huge celebrity version of hit BBC show commissioned for second series – before the first has even aired
CELEBRITY Traitors has been given the go ahead for a second series. That's despite the first round of its star-studded cast episodes not yet having aired. 2 The Sun was first to reveal that star-studded cast - which includes a Line Of Duty actor and a Bridget Jones. With fans on the edge of their seats as they wait for Celebrity Traitors to kick off later this year, it's no wonder BBC bosses are confident in commissioning a second series. A TV source told The Sun: 'The BBC has quietly ordered a second series of the celebrity spin-off, months before the first one airs this Autumn. "It just proves how confident they are that the celeb version is going to be a huge hit. "They haven't seen the viewer reaction yet but bosses have watched early edits of the first series now that filming has wrapped and it's exceeded all their wildest expectations. "They are thrilled with it and hastily commissioned another run. "The booker team are already at work scouting big showbiz names for the next line-up - they have set themselves the goal of booking even bigger A-listers than they got for the first series. "They have their work cut out for them but stars are clamoring to head to the castle, so it shouldn't be too difficult. "This is the show they all want to be on.' Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, viewers are being treated to a mix of A-listers, popular actors, TV stars and singing icons as a spin-off series to the original Traitors. The Traitors first launched in the UK in 2022, after the Dutch format was acquired by the BBC. Claudia Winkleman is the show's host, and has now hosted all three series to date. How does it work? It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors. The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in "the ultimate game of truth and deception". The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize. While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants). Each night, the Traitors gather to "eliminate" one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition Meanwhile, the traitors can be "banished" if they're successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful. The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors. The prize sees the winner could get £120K.

17-year veteran of Baltimore Fire Department dies in skills training session
A Baltimore City firefighter died in the line of duty on Friday, according to Baltimore Firefighters IAFF Local 744. Charlie Mudra, an emergency vehicle driver, suffered a catastrophic medical emergency during a skills training session while on duty at the Fire Academy, according to the post. Baltimore Firefighters IAFF Local 734 is deeply saddened to announce the Line of Duty death of Emergency Vehicle Driver... Posted by Baltimore Firefighters IAFF Local 734 on Friday, May 16, 2025 "Despite immediate advance life support measures being administered on scene, and transport to Johns Hopkins Hospital, EVD Mudra was declared deceased at 1042am," BCFD said in a statement. Mudra was recognized as a dedicated public servant and respected colleague after serving with the BCFD for 17 years. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fellow firefighters. His service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the safety of our city will never be forgotten," the post went on to say. Mayor Scott also released a statement acknowledging Mudra for his service, saying: "Today, we're devastated by the unexpected loss of another BCFD hero. Dranbauer fell nearly 30 to 40 feet down a ladder after responding to a three-story building fire on West Saratoga Street near Park Avenue. Dranbauer was taken to Shock Trauma in critical condition, where he's been since. Richard Choyce, a neighbor, told WJZ that he witnessed the medical emergency. "He was three-quarters of the way up that ladder, and I glanced away for a split second, and I looked back up, and he was tumbling backwards down the ladder, head over heels," Choyce said. On the same day, over 200 firefighters worked to contain a seven-alarm fire at a century-old West Baltimore warehouse. The massive fire disrupted Amtrak services from Washington, D.C. to Baltimore and forced residents to be relocated. Crews extinguished the blaze more than 24 hours after it sparked. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) is leading an investigation to determine the cause.
