Robert Eggers to Direct A Christmas Carol Movie with Willem Dafoe as Scrooge
It looks like director Robert Eggers isn't done with Christmas horror movies. After the success of Nosferatu, Eggers is set to work on another snow-covered Christmas story with an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. According to Deadline, Eggers is developing the movie with Warner Bros., and he has longtime collaborator Willem Dafoe in mind for the part of Ebenezer Scrooge. While A Christmas Carol is known as a kid-friendly tale, thanks in part to the popularity of the Muppet version, it can be considered a holiday horror story, what with Scrooge being haunted by several ghosts—one of which is the grotesque corpse of his old partner Jacob Marley. Carol is just one of many incoming projects under Eggers' belt. He also has a Werwulf movie with Focus Features, and it wasn't too long before it was announced that he was working on a follow-up of Jim Henson's cult classic Labyrinth. Admittedly, Nosferatu wasn't my favorite Eggers film, but the movie was a success when it came out, and a lot of fans loved his new twist on the classic Dracula tale. Personally, Lily-Rose Depp was the big standout in the film for me. She just embodied that possessed maiden so well. I may have wanted more out of Bill Skarsgard as Nosferatu, but he definitely had the aura for it. Who knows, maybe Carol is going to be Eggers' prep for the Labyrinth film. It would be fantastic if he found a way to put Muppets in it. No release date has been announced for Eggers' A Christmas Carol , but maybe it would be ready by Christmas 2026.

In early May 2023, Depp confirmed her relationship with Shake when she posted a photo of the two kissing on her Instagram Stories with the caption, '4 MONTHS W MY CRUSH,' per a screenshot obtained by Page Six. Shortly after, Depp and Balbuena were photographed sharing a kiss outside LAX Airport as Depp returned home from Cannes Film Festival in France, where she promoted her HBO series with The Weeknd, per Page Six. By June 2023, the pair were spotted enjoying several outings in New York City, and the following month, they were seen holding hands outside of Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif., and kissing at Crossroads, a restaurant in West Hollywood. The couple is often private about their relationship online, but they've shown their love for each other on special occasions, including on her own birthday in May 2024. Jacob Elordi and Lily-Rose Depp Team Up for Cormac McCarthy's OUTER DARK Adaptation — GeekTyrant
Jacob Elordi and Lily-Rose Depp are set to star in a new adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's haunting 1968 novel Outer Dark , and it's shaping up to be a bold, unsettling ride. Directed by Oscar-winning Son of Saul filmmaker László Nemes, Outer Dark marks his first English-language feature and is set against the bleak backdrop of Depression-era Appalachia. It tells the story of 'a young woman who bears her brother's baby. The brother leaves the nameless infant in the woods to die, but tells his sister that the newborn died of natural causes and had to be buried. 'The sister discovers this lie and sets out to find the baby for herself. But as both brother and sister separately move through the countryside, three terrifying strangers are on their tails, wreaking death and destruction wherever they appear.' Described as a 'dark fairytale,' the film is expected to begin shooting in 2026. Clara Royer, who previously collaborated with Nemes, co-wrote the screenplay. Nemes said in a statement: 'Since reading Outer Dark the first time, it has been my dream to make it into a film, and to find the appropriate cinematic language that would do justice to Cormac McCarthy's evocative and cosmological work. Joined by two magnetic actors, I now feel it's possible. 'The extraordinary source material is a profound inspiration to build a unique world that vibrates with life and death at the same time. An exciting road-movie, a terrible and beautiful journey into the labyrinth of the human soul – this is the ambition I have for Outer Dark.' The cast is more than up for the material. Lily-Rose Depp is coming off the back of Nosferatu , a gothic horror that earned critical acclaim and became a box office success. Meanwhile, Elordi, following acclaimed turns in Priscilla and The Narrow Road To The Deep North , is already locked into a stacked slate: he'll appear next as the monster in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein , as Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights , and in Ridley Scott's upcoming Dog Stars . Nemes recently wrapped Orphan , his third feature, and he's also prepping Moulin , a WWII drama about French resistance hero Jean Moulin.
