Siouxland Growth Organization says Siouxland Golf Lessons got 1st place and received $5,500 to use towards their business. Rules to follow when it comes to fireworks in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — As the Fourth of July holiday creeps ever closer, the City of Sioux City has issued a reminder on what their fireworks policies are. The city's municipal code outlines firework usage in Chapter 19.20, and the rules are also outlined on the city's website. To break it down, fireworks are only allowed to be set off during the Independence Day holiday and the night of New Year's Eve. Fireworks can be set off on July 3 between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. and on July 4 from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. At this time, the city's policy on these times is under consideration by the city council. In Sioux City, residents are prohibited from setting off fireworks at public parks, on city-owned property, or in a public roadway. Fireworks are also required to be set off by someone who isn't intoxicated. Violations may be reported to the Sioux City Police Department, and those caught violating the rules could face between $250 to $500 in fines. The city has also provided the following safety guidelines to make sure your Fourth of July is as safe as possible: Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks Always make sure the area is safe for fireworks Alcohol and fireworks do not mix. Have a designated shooter! Follow label instructions and use common sense Never point or throw fireworks at another person Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers Always have a garden hose nearby, hooked up to a water supply Only light one firework at a time and move back quickly Never attempt to relight a firework Dispose of spent fireworks in a bucket of water. NEVER put them in your garbage! Never experiment with homemade fireworks Keep your pets inside and comfortable Get to know your neighbors and watch out for one another Additionally, Sioux City Fire Rescue has shared a list of upcoming fireworks shows. SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Fans of jazz, photography, or even just the overall music scene are encouraged to visit the new exhibit that will be up Saturday at the Sioux City Public Museum. Shutter and Sound: The Jazz Photography of Bob Willoughby opens June 14 and will be on display until August 10. Bob Willoughby is best known for his pictures of film sets and actors, but he is also known to have taken musician photos. Willoughby has photographed some of the most well-known jazz artists, including, but not limited to, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, and Frank Sinatra. In the release, Brubeck said, '[Willoughby] had not only a good eye, but a keen ear, and seemed to know when to snap at an inspired moment.' Willoughby's photographs are collected and in museums around the world, from the Museum of Modern Art in New York City to the Tate Modern in London. The release suggests that 'Shutter and Sound is as enduring as the music.' The Sioux City Public Museum is in downtown Sioux City. Its hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and admission will be free. For more information, call 712-279-6174 or visit their website. SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) —Meet today's Stray of the Day! Meet Warrior, a 9 to 12-month-old, male, bull terrier mix puppy that weighs about 35-pounds. He was found on the 2600 block of Shields Avenue. The rescue said he's a friendly pup who gets along well with people and other animals. The rescue added he's house-broken and is the perfect size to be a family pet in just about any household. Warrior is available for adoption now. He was found on the 1800 block of Villa Avenue about one-month ago. The rescue said he's a strong guy that loves people. The rescue added he's the kind of dog who loves to run and play but also enjoys just chilling out on the couch sometimes. Loki is available for adoption now.
