RTA Cuts Vehicle Licensing Services by 74% to Streamline Customer Experience

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reduced its vehicle licensing services from 54 to just 14, marking a 74% drop as part of a major digital transformation initiative aimed at enhancing customer experience and service efficiency. The move is part of the RTA's '360 Comprehensive Services' plan, which seeks to unify and simplify public services through a holistic, tech-driven approach. The goal is to deliver faster, more seamless, and personalized services in line with Dubai's vision to become the world's most digitally advanced city. Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the RTA's Licensing Agency, said the overhaul aligns with broader government strategies to elevate Dubai's service excellence. 'The integration reengineers licensing procedures, reduces physical visits, shortens processing times, and supports smart mobility,' he noted. Key features of the transformation include the consolidation of services through the 'Dubai Now' app and the adoption of the UAE Pass for secure, unified digital access. One notable improvement is the Request for Vehicle Registration Certificate, which previously required 13 separate service steps but is now processed through a single, streamlined transaction. Six export and transfer-related services have also been merged under one unified category, 'Vehicle Registration Cancellation,' while service titles across the platform have been revised for clarity. By integrating with local and federal entities and adopting advanced technologies, the RTA aims to improve operational sustainability, efficiency, and the overall quality of life for both individual and corporate users. The initiative reinforces Dubai's ambition to set global benchmarks in smart transport and public service delivery. News Source: Emirates News Agency

Dubai: RTA records violations in driver training inspection campaigns

Several violations, including poor tyre maintenance and non-compliance with training session hours, were recorded at some driver training facilities in Dubai, the Road and Transportation Authority (RTA) announced on Wednesday. RTA said a series of 'comprehensive inspection campaigns' were held across driver training facilities in the emirate for three months. 'The inspection campaigns covered 26 training facilities, during which a total of 2,391 inspections were conducted and several violations were recorded. Among the most notable violations were failure to meet the technical standards for motorcycle tyre maintenance and non-compliance with the training session durations specified by the RTA.' Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Wednesday it issued 88 traffic violations against heavy trailers that were found with broken-down tyres, defective lighting, no reflective stickers, and improper loading of vehicles that posed a danger to the road or other users. RTA said a comprehensive trailer safety inspection campaign was held across six key locations in Dubai in the first quarter of 2025 to enhance road safety. The campaign included 2,638 field inspections of heavy vehicles at several strategic locations along key roads, notably Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. 'During these inspections, 177 trailers were checked to ensure compliance with safety requirements, including tyre safety standards, brake efficiency tests, lighting systems, license validity, driver permits, and other essential procedures related to approved safety standards,' RTA said. 'The campaign identified 134 technical faults and issued 88 violations against heavy trailers, addressing several key issues, including unroadworthy tyres, defective lighting on the rear and sides of the trailer, the absence of reflective stickers on the rear of trailers, and improper loading of vehicles that posed a danger to the road or other users,' RTA added.
