Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor Steps Into the Spotlight in New SUPERMAN Featurette — GeekTyrant
Warner Bros. and DC Studios just dropped a new character featurette for James Gunn's Superman , and the focus is on Lex Luthor. Nicholas Hoult is stepping into the shoes of one of comics' most iconic villains, and based on this first look, he's leaning into the role with sharp precision and a pure menace. The behind-the-scenes footage reveals Hoult talking about how Lex is a master puppeteer and condcuctor that is driven and hard working. He's trying to manipulate Superman, who he sees as 'the thing' the world foolishly puts its faith in. He also talks about why it's fun for him to be playing this villain. This marks his first swing at a major DC character, and funny enough, it almost didn't go this way. He screen-tested for both Batman in Matt Reeves' The Batman and for Superman himself before ultimately finding his calling on the other side of the moral divide. Reflecting on how it all clicked, Hoult shared: 'It's funny, because when I first read the script, I remember reading it and there was a little inkling part of me that was like 'Oh, I think you would have fun playing Lex.' 'And I kind of didn't say anything, and then when James [Gunn] called me to play Lex, I did kind of cackle - I think is how I'd describe it. I didn't say anything.' 'I think he said, 'We want you to play Lex,' and I just laughed, because I think there was something in my instinct, when I first read the script, where I was like, 'I think that's more what I should be doing in this story.'" There's clearly a spark of excitement and maybe a little madness in how Hoult approaches the character. If this featurette is any indication, his Luthor will be a more cerebral strategist, obsessed with humanity's future and his place in shaping it. With David Corenswet stepping into the Superman cape and James Gunn guiding the story, Superman is shaping up to be something that hopefully fans love. Superman is set to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.

It sounds excellent, and the surround and Dolby Atmos performance is out of this world. Ok, so some of you might already know how this works, but if you've just plugged your soundbar in and not checked out the app yet, the bar might not be properly attuned to your space. From there, the soundbar will play a series of noises to read the room, and then change the EQ from there to make sure that it sounds its best. It'll let you know when it's done. Now you can enjoy amazing sound! That said, remember to redo the TruePlay tuning if you significantly change the makeup of your room, like moving furniture. Also, redo it if you put the soundbar in a different room. Preferably out of the bathroom, Lex. Not getting the full effect of the height channels when you're watching a Dolby Atmos-encoded movie? Make sure you check the height channels in the Sonos app. The height channels in the Sonos Arc Ultra are bounced off the ceiling, so raise them to make sure they're coming in at the correct height. It's another simple fix. Go to the height channel settings in the Sonos App, and then raise and lower them until you're hearing overheard effects. Not sure what to watch? I like to use the Dolby Atmos test video, although you'll have to pick up a special DVD and DVD player to make it work properly. Otherwise, use your favorite movie on Netflix or Disney+ that you know features a Dolby Atmos channel, and adjust accordingly from there. My room needs about +1 to the height channels for the full effect, although your room may vary depending on the ceiling height or how tall your TV stand is. Dialogue is a tricky thing for any kind of audio equipment to get right. Perhaps there's lots going on in a scene, or there's some mad director's decision that's left the dialogue feeling lost and muffled (I'm looking at you, Christopher Nolan). Either way, the Sonos Arc Ultra has some excellent built-in features to make the dialogue in your favorite movies sound even better. There's a setting called "Dialogue enhancer," which make the voices in your movies sound clearer and easier to hear. It's easy to find and use, and very useful if you or someone you know is hard of hearing. Find the Dialogue Enhancer option in the Sonos app, and from there find the option that works best for you. The "Low" and "Medium" settings are the least intrustive, but they don't enhance the dialogue as much for people who struggle with busy sounding move mixes. "High" and "Max" are the options you'll want to use if you struggle to hear the dialogue. They quieten the rest of the scene, and raist the volume of spoken parts to make them easier to hear. They aren't very close to the director's intent, but they're a great way of making movies more accessible for more people. And we can finally hear what the characters are saying in Tenet. No thanks to you, Nolan.

James Gunn Shrugs Off Snyder Fans' SUPERMAN Review Bomb Threat: 'I Think We'll Survive' — GeekTyrant
The DC Universe is heading into a new era under James Gunn's direction, and for many fans, the upcoming Superman film represents the clean slate Warner Bros. has been desperate for. Gunn's vision brings a new Kal-El to the big screen, going head-to-head with Lex Luthor while also including characters like Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Mister Terrific. Early tracking numbers suggest the film could mark a major turning point for the franchise. But not everyone's onboard with the reboot. Some diehard fans of the now-defunct Snyderverse are still mad that the studio ditched Snyder's vision and that they ditched Henry Cavill. And they're not just complaining, they're actively trying to sabotage. On the SnyderCut subreddit, one user shared a detailed plan to tank Superman 's release: flood the internet with spoilers, leave fake negative reviews, and reserve movie tickets without ever showing up. It's a weak attempt, and Gunn clearly isn't sweating it. When asked about the Reddit threat, Gunn responded on Threads, saying: 'lol I think we'll survive. I'm not sure the eight people that listen to that guy (I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's a guy) are going to impact the course of events.' He's not wrong. The supposed campaign hasn't picked up steam, and the movie is less than a month out. Snyder loyalists may be loud online, but when it comes to real-world impact. The irony here is that while some Snyderverse fans are still waging war, Snyder himself seems to be at peace with the current direction. He's even posed for photos with Gunn this year, which was a moment that predictably sparked speculation about a possible return to DC. Gunn quickly shut that down, though, clarifying they were just hanging out. 'Not everything is a secret plan,' he said, just two filmmakers and longtime friends catching up. Let's not forget: Gunn and Snyder go way back. Their collaboration started with Dawn of the Dead in 2004. Despite what some fans might believe, there's no animosity between them, it's actually quite the opposite. Snyder has even offered advice to Gunn's team about Superman's costume design. Those crazy fans just need to calm down. Superman is set to fly into theaters on July 11, 2025, and I doubt a little Reddit tantrum is going to hurt it.

James Gunn: ‘I Don't Think Superman Is All Good'
James Gunn says that isn't all good and Lex Luthor isn't all bad in the new DCU movie. Superman arrives in theaters in just one month from Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios. Written and directed by Gunn, the blockbuster movie stars David Corenswet as the titular superhero, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn said, 'There are some characters that are really almost saintly, like Superman. There are some characters who are almost pretty terrible, like Lex Luthor. But I don't think Lex is all bad, and I don't think Superman is all good. All those people in between, the Guy Gardners and the Jimmy Olsens of the world, are even more complex in their moralities and what they think is okay.' 'Superman' Trailer Unleashes Heat Vision And Green Lantern Face-Off
The Man of Steel is returning to the big screen soon, and he won't be in for a good time. But it seems fans will, as the final trailer for James Gunn's Superman showcases plenty of new footage that gives a good idea of the action to come. Coming in a little over two minutes, the clip goes full throttle on the superhero antics, from fighting various threats (including a fire-breathing kaiju) and saving people to knocking out some teeth. Krypto, the superdog companion to Krypto's last son, gets a flashy tag-team finisher moment, while various familiar faces make their appearance. At one point, Mister Terrific appears and shouts at Superman to 'quit messing around.' I'm not messing around. I'm doing important stuff, ' he replies while lying on the ground (big mood, right there). Lex Luthor, meanwhile, seems to really hate the latter's guts, threatening to kill his girlfriend, Lois Lane, and everyone else he's close to. The Man of Steel also winds up being strangled with an alien baby in hand, and after a face-off against Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, unleashes his Heat Vision at the end of the trailer. If it looks like a lot is going on for Superman , it's because there is.
