Saudi Pro League confident of signing Lewandowski in 2026

Saudi Pro League are confident about signing Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski next year (h/t Diario Sport). The 36-year-old has only got better with age, displaying a higher level of scoring consistency to further fortify his status as one of the best strikers of all time. Advertisement Since his move from Bayern Munich in 2022, Lewandowski has netted 101 and 20 assists in 149 appearances for the Catalan giants. He hit new levels under manager Hansi Flick last season, scoring 42 goals in 52 games to inspire the Blaugrana to a domestic treble. Lewandowski has shown that he has plenty of gas left in the tank, however, Barca have a decision to make when his contract ends at the end of next season. Several factors will be considered, such as his physical fitness to thrive in Flick's demanding system, should Barca wish to prolong his stay. The Catalans are aware of Lewandowski's injury problems he suffered towards the end of the last season. Advertisement Meanwhile, Saudi believes they have an agreement with the Polish international to join one of their top clubs next summer. If the deal goes through, Lewandowski will jump on the bandwagon like a legion of superstars, like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, to move to the Middle East. As for now, Barca see Lewandowski as their first-choice centre-forward heading into the new season. They are unlikely to invest in a new No.9 in this transfer window due to the presence of Ferran Torres, who performed brilliantly during Lewandowski's absence last term. Fermin Lopez has also attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, but the midfielder has no intention of leaving Barcelona. The Catalans are accelerating their efforts to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, having agreed personal terms with the Spaniard.

FC Barcelona Coach Flick Fires Warning To Lamine Yamal

FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick fired a warning to star player Lamine Yamal during an interview published by the club's official magazine. The pair have just wrapped up a domestic treble-winning season together in Flick's maiden term manning the dugout, and while Lamine is currently holidaying in Brazil with former Barca winger Neymar, Flick interrupted his own vacation to reflect on some key topics. One was Ballon d'Or candidate Lamine, who Flick reminded us he often says is a 'genius'. 'And he's 17 years old, we have to help him,' Flick added, in comments that echoed those of Cristiano Ronaldo recently. 'So far everything is fine. If he wants to play the next 15 years at the highest level he needs to train very well and prepare mentally as well. He's smart. Not everything is about enjoyment, you also have to work. And players with their talent must do it,' Flick also warned, though he is confident that Lamine has 'good examples in the team' such as Raphinha, 'who trusts him a lot.' Flick spoke more about the number 11, who he was impressed by after watching for the first time. '[He's] very dynamic, giving the last pass, assisting [Robert] Lewandowski... I also saw that he needed confidence. He is Brazilian and, therefore, he has quality, but he also puts in heart, mentality and attitude. In addition, he always works in defense. He has a lot of potential,' Flick said. Though it was only coming up short in a Champions League semifinal against Inter Milan, by an aggregate score of 7-6, that cost Barca the chance to have an untouchable season, Flick stressed that it his approach is 'not about seeking perfection, but progression'. 'When I see the team improving day by day, I think that's what I really want. I'm here at this incredible club to help these players show their best selves. So we'll work hard and try to play at the highest level. That means, of course, fighting to win the Champions League and La Liga, which is not easy at all. It's about working hard and doing it together, to show what a great team we are,' Flick stated. Flick pointed out that 'it's not all physical, it's also mentality' in terms of guaranteeing success. 'In the last games of the season we perhaps suffered a little with the pressure they put on us in defence because they knew us better. It is important to have the best physical trainers and that they adjust to the football that is played at Barça. I could bring them from Germany, but I think it's a different philosophy and the players need someone to work with theirs. That has also been a success of Deco, which has brought experienced people. I think Julio Tous is perhaps the best. In addition, German, Pepe and Rafa have done a great job,' Flick said. After Flick and his troops more than exceeded expectations in their first season together, FC Barcelona now has a job on its hands to stay on top of the pile and continue exerting domestic dominance over arch nemesis Real Madrid.

Watch: Robert Lewandowski & Wojciech Szczęsny's viral moment in Barcelona training

Footage stemming from the training ground of La Liga giants Barcelona has gone viral across social media on Saturday. This comes owing to an exchange between Robert Lewandowski, and Wojciech Szczęsny. Barcelona are of course in the midst of final preparations for the club's season finale, a trip to the Basque Country to face Athletic Club on Sunday. Advertisement The Blaugrana have long locked up the La Liga title, meaning the fixture is of little importance when it comes to their season as a whole. In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of the atmosphere in Hansi Flick's squad, on Saturday, being of an altogether positive nature. So much so that, as alluded to above, two of the club's veteran stars enjoyed a lighthearted moment which has since turned heads online. The exchange in question saw goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny direct a fake punch at close friend Robert Lewandowski, resulting in the latter going to groud in dramatic fashion. Trumpworld Troublemaker Spotted Amid ICE Barbie's Security Drama

Corey Lewandowski, who is apparently working extremely closely with Kristi Noem at the moment, was spotted in footage from the dramatic scene at the Department of Homeland Security secretary's Los Angeles press conference on Thursday. The chaos erupted when California Senator Alex Padilla was handcuffed and forcibly removed from the news conference, a move that Democrats slammed. Padilla said he was there 'peacefully' and had raised his voice to ask a question before multiple agents pounced on him. In footage aired by NBC4 Los Angeles, Lewandowski is seen standing beside a handcuffed Padilla after the scuffle. He didn't immediately return a request for comment. Lewandowski, a former Trump campaign chief, has been working as a close advisor to Noem, the Wall Street Journal reported in April. Designated a 'special government employee,' he's taken on a top role by her side and is often the only person to accompany her to meetings, sources told the Journal. That personnel choice was sure to get tongues wagging, given the rumors that have dogged the two for years. In 2023, two conservative tabloids—the Daily Mail and New York Post—reported that the pair, suspected of being romantically linked since at least 2021, were having an affair. The two MAGAworld mainstays, who are both married, have publicly denied any affair. A DHS spokesperson told the Journal the department 'doesn't waste time with salacious, baseless gossip.' Noem still hasn't appointed a formal chief of staff, but staffers reportedly view Lewandowski as the de factor person in the role, with some even referring to him as the 'shadow secretary.' The GOP operative wanted to serve as Noem's chief of staff, but Trump and his top aides were uncomfortable with the optics given the rumors, the Journal reported. And that might not be the only work he's doing for Noem. In February, a source told The Swamp that Lewandowski was spotted in Noem's Washington apartment building taking boxes down to the trash room. Lewandowski has been one of the most polarizing figures in Trump's orbit—a bare-knuckled political operative known as much for his loyalty as the scandal that seems to follow him. When he joined Trump's campaign last year, he was said to have butted heads with top aides, including co-campaign chairs Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita.

Robert Lewandowski 'considers stunning U-turn FIVE days after quitting Poland national team' - as head coach resigns following star accusing him of 'betrayal'

Robert Lewandowski is reportedly considering ending his international retirement after just five days, after Poland head coach Michal Probierz resigned from his role. Poland's all-time leading goalscorer had announced on Sunday that he had decided to quit the national team while Probierz was in charge. Lewandowski made the announcement 39 minutes after the Polish Football Association announced Probierz had stripped the forward of the captaincy. 'Considering the circumstances and the loss of trust in the Polish national team coach, I have decided to step back from playing for the Polish national team as long as he remains the coach,' Lewandowski said. 'I hope I will have the chance to play again for the best fans in the world.' The Barcelona star later expanded on his decision by claiming that Probierz had 'betrayed my trust', while appearing to accuse the coach of leaking private conversations. The 36-year-old is now considering reversing his decision, according to German newspaper BILD, following the resignation of Probierz on Thursday. Probierz had overseen Poland's 2-1 defeat by Finland on Tuesday, a result that leaves them third in their World Cup qualifying group, and has now taken the decision to step down. 'I have come to the conclusion that in the current situation, the best decision for the good of the national team will be my resignation from the position of coach,' Probierz said. 'Performing this function was the fulfillment of my professional dreams and the greatest honour of my life. 'I would like to thank all my co-workers, employees of the Polish Football Association. I could always count on you. Thank you for trusting the president and board of the Polish Football Association. 'Of course, I would like to thank all the footballers, whom I had the pleasure of meeting on this path. I will keep my fingers crossed for all of you, because the national team is our common national asset. 'I would also like to thank our wonderful fans. You are with us through thick and thin. Wherever the national team played, your support was heard.' Probierz's departure has reportedly opened up the possibility that Lewandowski could return to the national team fold for their World Cup qualifiers against The Netherlands and Finland in September. Earlier this week, Lewandowski had hit back at Probierz over the nature of his axing as captain. 'I got a surprise call from coach Michal Probierz with the information that he had decided to take away my armband, I was not prepared for it at all, I was putting my children to sleep,' he said. 'I didn't even have time to inform my family or talk to anyone about what had happened, because a few moments later a message appeared on the PZPN website. 'The way in which it was communicated to me is really surprising to me. It seemed to me that such matters should be dealt with differently. 'Everything was communicated over the phone, it really shouldn't have been like this. The coach betrayed my trust.' Lewandowski claimed Probierz had 'bowed to media pressure' and accused Poland's head coach of breaking agreements. Poland's record goalscorer said he had agreed with Probierz not to attend their training camp ahead of a friendly with Moldova on June 6, allowing him to get rest. Lewandowski said he had informed only Poland's head coach that he would attend the match to surprise Kamil Grosicki, who was making his 95th and final appearance for the national team, only for the news to be leaked. The 36-yer-old said he had met with Probierz following the match on Friday and had been given no indication he would be stripped of the captaincy. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Probierz confirmed he had agreed to rest Lewandowski but had been taken by surprise by his decision to attend the friendly. Probierz claimed Lewandowski had asked for the Polish FA to say he had resigned the captaincy rather than have the honour stripped from him, a request he rejected. A report from Polish outlet Onet had suggested that the rest of the playing squad had 'already had enough of his swagger' and that had the captaincy been decided by popular vote, it would not have ended up with Lewandowski. Things seem to have come to a head in March when Poland laboured to a 2-0 win over minnows Malta with Lewandowski on the bench due to his fitness. Reports claim he would however 'storm into the locker room' after the game and berate both players and coaching staff, before publicly voicing his criticisms, stating he would not 'sugarcoat' the state of play. He had criticised the lack of young players in the squad at the time, hinting that there were perhaps either no pathways for youngsters, or not enough quality was coming through from the youth teams to improve the side going forward. Lewandowski is Poland's highest goal scorer with 85 goals for his country in a record 158 appearances, and had held the captaincy since 2014. Probierz replaced the sacked Fernando Santos as Poland manager in 2023, taking them to Euro 2024 where his side were the first team to be eliminated.
