Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson's untitled comedy series on hold

Filming on the highly anticipated untitled comedy series from Apple TV plus, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson , has been temporarily halted, multiple sources told Deadline. The series, produced by Skydance Television, was in production in Austin, Texas, where filming was suspended late last week. Cast members, including Holland Taylor, Natalie Martinez, and Brittany Ishibashi, were sent home as a result of the pause, as per Deadline. The reason behind the hiatus stems from creative differences involving the show's direction, specifically how to conclude the series' first season. Notably, the departure of showrunner David West Read, who had been leading the project thus far, has played a significant role in the delay. However, there is good news for fans eager to see the series completed: Veteran comedy showrunner Lee Eisenberg, known for his work on 'Jury Duty' and 'Little America', is currently in talks to become the new showrunner. Eisenberg, who most recently created and executive produced Apple TV plus's 'Lessons in Chemistry', could take over the reins for the final two episodes, along with likely reshoots, sources indicate, as reported by Deadline. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo The series is inspired by the real-life friendship between McConaughey and Harrelson, who also serve as executive producers. Their bond takes centre stage in this heartfelt comedy, which centres around their characters' odd-couple dynamic as they attempt to live together on McConaughey's ranch in Texas. As they navigate the ups and downs of family life, both characters find themselves grappling with the strange beauty of their connection. An ensemble cast, including Oona Yaffe, Highdee Kuan, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, and Noah Carganilla, joins McConaughey and Harrelson in the series. Skydance Television is producing the series for Apple TV plus. In addition to McConaughey and Harrelson, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television, along with Bill Bost and Jeremy Plager, serve as executive producers. At this time, there is no confirmed date for the resumption of filming.

Netflix Announces the Cast for Its 'Little House on the Prairie' Adaptation

The streamer has announced a new adaptation of Little House on the Prairie, helmed by showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, Vampire Diaries). 'I fell deeply in love with these books when I was 5 years old,' Sonnenshine told Netflix. 'They inspired me to become a writer and a filmmaker, and I am honored and thrilled to be adapting these stories for a new audience.' Below, here's everything we know about the upcoming adaptation so far. Written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the series (which has a total of nine books published from 1935 to 1971) was based on her childhood spent in the American Midwest in the late 1800s. The new adaptation promises to be 'part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West.' The cast will include several relative newcomers. Alice Halsey (Lessons in Chemistry, Days of Our Lives) will star as Laura Ingalls. Luke Bracey (Little Fires Everywhere, Elvis), Crosby Fitzgerald (Palm Royale, Abbott Elementary), and Skywalker Hughes will round out the Ingalls family as Charles, Caroline, and Mary, respectively. Jocko Sims, Warren Christie, Wren Zhawenim Gotts, Meegwun Fairbrother, and Alyssa Wapanatâhk will appear as series regulars, and Xander Cole will be recurring. Only two of the actors (Sims and Christie) will play people from the books, while the others will be entirely new characters. 'I am absolutely thrilled with the brilliant cast we have assembled,' Sonnenshine told Netflix. 'Each one of them brings something special to the Little House universe and will help make this story come alive for a whole new generation.' Not yet, but very soon! According to Deadline, production is set to begin next month in Winnipeg, Canada. No, but watch this space. This story will be updated.

'Little House on the Prairie' reboot adds Jocko Sims as the Ingalls' real-life doctor

The cast of Netflix's Little House on the Prairie reboot continues to grow, and Jocko Sims just joined as a character whom fans of Laura Ingalls Wilder's book series will remember. The New Amsterdam star will play Dr. George Tann, described by Netflix as "a generous and kind-hearted man with a charming bedside manner that makes him a connector within the community." Sims' character is based on the real-life Dr. Tann, who Wilder wrote about in her 1935 autobiographical novel Little House on the Prairie. According to the official LHOP website, Dr. Tann treated the Ingalls family when they all were stricken with malaria in Kansas. In addition to Sims, Netflix announced five more cast members: Warren Christie as John Edwards, a Civil War veteran from Tennessee; Meegwun Fairbrother as Mitchell, a farmer with "the most impressive homestead in the county"; Alyssa Wapanatǎhk as White Sun, Mitchell's wife; Wren Zhawenim Gotts as Good Eagle, daughter of Mitchell and White Sun; and Xander Cole as Little Puma, White Sun's younger brother, who "loves his big sister but also loves getting under her skin." Described by the streamer as "part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West," Little House on the Prairie will follow the Ingalls family and the Osage tribe members they encounter while living in Kansas. Earlier this month, Netflix revealed that Alice Halsey (Lessons in Chemistry) will play Laura Ingalls in the reboot, alongside Luke Bracey (Little Fires Everywhere) as Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald (Palm Royale) as Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes (I, Object) as Mary. While former Fox News host Megyn Kelly — who vowed to "destroy" the reboot if it was too "woke" — may not be pleased by the diverse cast, TV's original Half-Pint, Melissa Gilbert, is all for the new interpretation of Wilders' work. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly in February about Netflix's reboot, Gilbert suggested that the series would be able "to do things that we didn't get to do necessarily so easily in the '70s," especially when it comes to casting. "They can make an actual point of hiring Native American actors to play the Native Americans, which we didn't do. We were certainly inclusive and open to it, but it wasn't a prerequisite," Gilbert said. "And now they can look at it with a new lens and say, 'This part should be played by Native American actors.' Bring in Dr. Tann, the actual Black doctor who treated the Ingalls family. Bring all of these people in and tell the story." Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, Vampire Diaries) will serve as showrunner for Little House on the Prairie, which does not yet have a release date. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
