Renee Rapp dons Celtic FC tracksuit top on red carpet as she channels Rod Stewart
The American star appeared at Capital's Summertime Ball wearing the green tracksuit top. Move over Rod Stewart, there's a new blonde Celtic fan in town... American singer Renee Rapp seems to be taking fashion tips from the Maggie May singer as she appeared at Capital's Summertime Ball wearing a Celtic FC tracksuit top with some tartan. The Leave Me Alone singer walked on to the red carpet wearing the green and yellow Celtic zipper and teamed it with a tartan skirt, a chunky studded belt and some knee high black boots. She jazzed up her get up with an oversized pair of sunglasses. And fans were delighted with Renee's choice of outfit, while others were pleased to learn she supported the Hoops. In the comments, one fan penned: "Celtic fan Renee Rapp queen never misses." Another said: "Renee wearing Celtic merch!! I know that's right!!" While one added: "Omg no way is Renee repping Celtic!" Another exclaimed: "RENEE IN A CELTIC TOP MY NEW PERSONALITY." "As if she couldn't get anymore perfect", another said. "Renee!!! My Celtic queen!!" While one wrote: "I love her even more now." One joked: "Alert the media!! Renee's wearing a Celtic zipper!!" Speaking to MTV on the red carpet, Renee said she was overstimulated. When they asked her if she can tell them a secret, she said: "A secret? Um, this is the most f****** over-stimulating thing I've literally ever done in my life. "I've never seen so many people in one place and it's so over-stimulating and I don't do well in public situations even though you would think that I do." Sir Rod Stewart is a big fan of wearing Celtic tracksuits, and has made no secret his love for the club. The 80-year-old has always been known for his fun sense of fashion featuring tartan and leopard print but he often hints at his love of the Hoops with his choice of clothing and accessories. When it comes to clothes, Rod is often spotted in a full white Celtic tracksuit and strip along with a huge gold chain with the word 'Celtic' and a gold shamrock. Just last month, Renee performed at the American Music Awards and left fans stunned. The singer performed her latest single, "Leave Me Alone," at the award show, and it was one of the most talked-about performances of the night. Reneé started the performance in front a makeshift bathroom mirror with three of her dancers before kicking down the set to perform in front of the crowd. At one point of the performance, Reneé laid down as a camera captured her from a bird's-eye view. 'My ex walked in and my other ex with her / Leave me alone, babe, I wanna have fun,' she sang, taking out the word 'b---h' in the lyrics. 'Put the three of us together, that's a real tongue twister / Leave me alone, babe, I wanna have fun.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Reneé Rapp Says Her Name Was Designed for Pop Stardom
Reneé Rapp is leaning into her identity, her artistry, and the name she says was designed for the spotlight. During a new episode of the Good Hang podcast with Amy Poehler, the singer and actor opened up about her early path to pop stardom, revealing that her mother, Denise Rapp, deliberately gave her an alliterative name to help her succeed in entertainment. More from Billboard Shaun Cassidy Gets Ready for the Longest Tour of His 45-Year Career: 'I Felt the Need to Connect with People' 'Luther' Ties 'Not Like Us' for Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart Bono Cheekily Weighs in On Springsteen Vs. Trump Squabble: 'There's Only One Boss in America' 'My mom chose my first and last name to be—well, okay, arguably chose my first and last name to both have R's,' Rapp said. 'She was like, 'Alliteration, just in case she wants to be a pop star.' Like before I was born.' 'She gave you a pop star name just in case, because Reneé Rapp is a huge pop star name,' Poehler responded. Rapp agreed: 'It's a really good one.' The conversation also touched on Rapp's experience publicly coming out as a lesbian while appearing on Saturday Night Live in January. She recalled asking the writers to revise a line in a sketch that referred to her as a 'little bisexual intern.' 'At that time I was very publicly bisexual,' Rapp said. 'In private, I was talking with my girlfriend and a lot of my friends for the last maybe eight months before that of being like, 'I actually don't really feel very bi at the moment. I feel very much like a lesbian and it feels so nice and that word feels amazing.'' 'Labeling yourself publicly is really, really, really empowering,' she added. 'And also, I think, can be kind of intimidating.' She described the moment as 'pretty c—y' and said it felt 'so f—ing good.' Earlier this week, Rapp debuted a new single titled 'Leave Me Alone' during her live performance at the 2025 American Music Awards. The fiery, guitar-heavy track addresses her frustrations with fame and references her exit from the now-cancelled HBO Max series The Sex Lives of College Girls. 'Signed a hundred NDAs but I still say something / Leave me alone, b—h, I wanna have fun / Took my sex life with me, now the show ain't f—in',' she sings on the chorus. 'Leave Me Alone' marks the first release from Rapp's upcoming sophomore album Bite Me, which is set for release on Aug. 1 via Interscope. The album follows 2023's Snow Angel, which debuted at No. 44 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at No. 2 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. The title track also reached No. 4 on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs chart. Bite Me is out Aug. 1. How Reneé Rapp's Mom Manifested Her Fame as a Pop Star
Reneé Rapp's stardom was written in the stars—at least, according to her mom, Denise Rapp. The powerhouse vocalist appeared on The Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, where she opened up about her rise to fame and how she became the latest pop girl to transform the scene. She also shared the major way her mom manifested her stardom to begin with, and it all goes back to the year 2000. 'My mom chose my first and last name to be, well, okay, arguably chose my first and last name to both have [two letter R's],' she explained to the Saturday Night Live alum. 'She was like, 'Alliteration, just in case she wants to be a pop star' before I was born.' While Reneé admitted the move was a bit 'conceited,' she shared that she's actually 'obsessed with the way she did it.' 'I'm like, thank you, God,' she added. Amy agreed with the sentiment, saying, 'She gave you a pop star name just in case, because Reneé Rapp is a huge pop star name.' Reneé quipped, 'It's a really good one!' The interview comes hot off Reneé's American Music Awards debut, where she performed her new single 'Leave Me Alone' for the first time. Complete with dancers, angsty garage-band guitars, and her personality-driven delivery of the lyrics, it was merely another moment catapulting Reneé's name further into our current pop culture landscape. Mark your cals for her next big moment, because her sophomore album, Bite Me, is due on August 1 via Interscope Records. Reneé Rapp Reveals Girlfriend Towa Bird Was 'So 'F------ Mean' to Her When They Met: 'Loved It'
Reneé Rapp revealed Towa Bird was "mean" to her when they first met During a new episode of 'Good Hang with Amy Poehler,' the actress and singer said the experience was "so hot" The couple made their red carpet debut in March 2024Reneé Rapp is opening up about the hilarious beginnings of her love story with Towa Bird. During the Tuesday, May 27 episode of Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the actress and pop star revealed that she and the British singer-songwriter, 26, didn't exactly have the sweetest start. Rapp, 25, thought the "Drain Me!" artist was "sexy" and knew of her before they even met. "I just always thought she was so f------ cool," she said. Rapp recalled asking one of her best friends to introduce her to Bird, but they said she wasn't necessarily "in a place in her life" where she was ready to meet someone. "I said, 'I couldn't give a f--- less. I'm not either, but I'm gonna meet her. We need to at least be friends," the Sex Lives of College Girls alum said. After the pair were introduced, Rapp said that Bird was "so f------ mean" to her, but she "loved it." "She's scary," the "Leave Me Alone" singer said. "Well, she's like from the U.K., so, like, her humor is super different. She's also just like, such a bitch." Rapp recalled telling Bird that she had heard "so much" about her, and the "Wild Heart" artist replied: "Why are you talking about me so much then?" Amy Poehler noted that Bird was "really negging" her. Rapp also revealed that her girlfriend was the one to tell her "I love you" first." At the time, the pair were "high out of our minds" on the beach, and the "Tummy Hurts" musician "didn't say a word." Instead, Rapp asked Bird to repeat herself. "And she was like, 'Are you f------ kidding me right now?'" she recalled before telling her girlfriend she felt the same. Rapp and Bird made their red carpet debut as a couple at Vanity Fair's Oscars afterparty in March 2024 after hitting the road together for Rapp's Snow Hard Feelings Tour. In the past, Bird gushed about working with Rapp to Euphoria Magazine, saying she was "so authentically herself" and learned "so much" from her on tour. Prior to their romance, Rapp was linked to TikToker Alissa Carrington, whom she dated for almost a year before confirming their split in February 2024. Read the original article on People
