(AP Photo/Nam Y. Rookie Andre Granillo, who got the final out in the seventh for his first career victory in the first game, pitched a scoreless 10th for his first save in his fourth appearance. JoJo Romero (3-3) worked a scoreless ninth for the victory. Advertisement Arenado hit the milestone homer following a three-run shot by Alec Burleson in the third and finished 3 for 5. He's the seventh player with 350 homers and 10-plus Gold Gloves. Willson Contreras, who homered and drove in three runs to help St. Louis rally for a 5-4 win in the opener, had a two-out two-run double in the fourth for a 6-1 lead. Andrew Benintendi hit his third career grand slam with two outs in the seventh to cap a five-run inning as Chicago tied it at 6. Dan Altavilla (0-1) struck out Burleson to begin the 10th. Arenado singled to score automatic runner Jordan Walker, but was thrown out trying for a double. Lars Nootbaar added his ninth homer for an insurance run. Advertisement Victor Scott II singled and stole his 20th base and Willson Contreras was hit by a pitch ahead of Burleson's seventh homer. Ryan Noda homered leading off the second against St. Louis starter Michael McGreevy for his first hit with Chicago. St. Louis has won three straight. MLB to Celebrate Shohei Ohtani, Other Japanese Players with Custom Manhole Covers

MLB to Celebrate Shohei Ohtani, Other Japanese Players with Custom Manhole Covers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani and Chicago Cubs slugger Seiya Suzuki are among 12 active Japanese MLB players that will be celebrated with custom manhole covers in Japan beginning June 16. Advertisement Per an article, the 12 custom manhole covers featuring one player in each design, will be installed at locations in Japan associated with that's player's roots in baseball. St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar, who represented the Japan National team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, will also be one of the 12 players celebrated. Nootbaar, whose mother is of Japanese descent, will have his cover installed on Monday, June 23 in Higashimatsuyama City, Saitama Prefecture. In seven games for Team Japan during their 2023 WBC title run, Nootbaar slashed .269/.424/.269 with four RBIs, six walks and two stolen bases. Advertisement This season with the Cardinals, Nootbaar got off to a hot start but has cooled off this month. He's hitting just .128 in June with 15 strikeouts, and is marred in a 1-for-27 slump in his last seven games. Nootbaar Not In Starting Lineup Ahead of Tuesday's Blue Jays Game

Nootbaar Not In Starting Lineup Ahead of Tuesday's Blue Jays Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Cardinals' LF Lars Nootbaar will take the night off on Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays as Nolan Gorman slots into the starting lineup. Advertisement Nootbaar, 27, has had a solid season and has been a big reason the St. Louis Cardinals (36-30) are six games above .500. The left fielder is typically the leadoff batter for the Cards, and as a result, SS Masyn Winn slots into the leadoff spot. Iván Herrera — who hit a go-ahead three-run shot that sent Busch Stadium into cheers — hits in the No. 2 spot after batting fifth in St. Louis' Game 1 extra-inning loss. Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar (21) celebrates after hitting a home run during the second inning against the Baltimore Orioles© Daniel Kucin Jr.-Imagn Images Herrera's homer gave the Cards a 4-3 lead, but it didn't last long as Toronto's Jonatan Clase hit a solo home run to send the contest into extra innings where the Blue Jays ultimately won. Nootbaar started 16 consecutive games before Tuesday's contest but has had a bad stretch of games going 1-for-19 over the Cards' past five, and 0-for-10 in their last two. Advertisement Gorman, 25, has appeared in 38 games this season and gets the start as Nootbaar hits the bench. Gorman will start at second base while Brendan Donovan moves out to left field. The second baseman will bat seventh with Nolan Arenado at sixth and Pedro Pagés at eighth. Cardinals' Miles Mikolas (4-2, 3.96 ERA) gets the start on the mound against Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt (6-3, 3.56 ERA), who had a strong outing in his most recent start against the Philadelphia Phillies. As Lars Nootbaar gets a well-earned breather after a tough stretch at the plate, the Cardinals turn to Nolan Gorman and a reshuffled lineup in hopes of bouncing back from Monday's extra-inning loss. With Masyn leading off and Iván Herrera riding momentum from a clutch homer, St. Louis looks to even the series behind veteran Miles Mikolas.
