Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi hit back at PM Modi, demand 20-year report card of NDA govt
Patna: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Congress over alleged "jungle raj", "corruption", and "dynastic politics" during his rally at Bihar's Siwan on Friday, the RJD leadership launched a sharp counterattack, questioning the Prime Minister's own legacy and the performance of the double-engine government in the state. Lalu Prasad Yadav took a swipe at the Prime Minister with a sarcastic weather warning posted on social media platform X. Sharing an AI-generated video mocking PM Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the RJD supremo wrote: "Weather warning in the interest of Bihar -- Today there is a heavy rain of lies, slogans and confusion in Bihar, hailstorms of false and tempting promises are also falling with thunder. Be careful." Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav also took to social media to issue a pointed rebuttal, challenging the Prime Minister to present a 20-year report card of the NDA's governance in Bihar and his own leadership at the Centre. He posted a graphic with the headline: "PM Modi, give an answer in the election tour of Bihar and a full account of 20 years." Accompanying the poster, he tweeted: "Sir, don't lie, give the account of 20 years." In a series of tough questions, Tejashwi wrote: "Despite having a double-engine government for 20 years in Bihar and your leadership at the Centre for 11 years, why does Bihar still rank lowest in terms of poverty, unemployment, per capita income, investment, literacy, and industrial development as per your own NITI Aayog and national reports?" He also credited his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, for establishing key institutions in the Tirhut division. "Lalu Yadav established JP University and three major railway factories, including the Marhaura rail engine factory that is now exporting locomotives abroad?" he said. Tejashwi also said: "Will you tell the people of Bihar that during your 20 years of rule, more than one lakh people have been murdered, and over one lakh girls raped? Will you be ashamed to call this your achievement or ignore it as usual?" He also asked why poverty, unemployment, rampant crime, crime against women, corruption, migration, 'Damadvaad' (Brother-in-law) and other issues are still taking place in Bihar. He even compared Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's current condition to past criticisms by PM Modi. Friday marked PM Modi's fifth visit to Bihar in 2025, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 5,736 crore in Siwan. With Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for later this year, national political activity in the state has surged.

'Heavy rainfall of lies & jumlas': Lalu Yadav shares AI video attacking PM Modi, CM Nitish; watch
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav (File photo) NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Friday lobbed a stinging jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar , who is a key ally in the NDA camp. In a video, a political satire targeted the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and its leaders, including PM Modi and CM Nitish, in the context of the upcoming 2025 Bihar legislative assembly elections. The clip combined real and animated visuals, subtitles, and dramatic music to mock the NDA's political promises and campaign tactics. "Weather alert in Bihar's interest: Today, Bihar is experiencing heavy rainfall of lies, jumlas , and confusion, with hailstorms of false and tempting promises. Stay alert and cautious," Lalu wrote, sharing the clip on X. The video began with a black screen, setting a serious tone. The first visuals showed an elderly man sitting under an umbrella in a rural setting, possibly symbolising the common man seeking shelter from the flood of political promises. This was followed by a younger man holding an umbrella amidst a storm, suggesting the people's vulnerability to political deception. The satire sharpened as PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar were shown dancing happily under a broken bridge, symbolising incomplete infrastructure promises. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Animated versions of the two leaders appeared with microphones, declaring, 'Today there will be a rain of promises in Bihar,' indicating the start of their campaign full of flashy but empty slogans. A weather warning flashed across the screen, humorously announcing, 'On June 20, there will be a rain of promises in Bihar.' The video then showed PM Modi speaking at a podium, with subtitles warning, 'Take out the umbrella! The lightning of lies will strike, the storm of announcements will roar.' Throughout the video, the elderly man with the umbrella reappeared, reflecting the struggle of the ordinary citizen. The video closed by repeating its core message -- that Bihar was witnessing a rain of promises, and it cautioned people to not be swayed by flashy campaigns. Overall, the video cleverly used humour, symbolism, and repetition to criticise the BJP's campaign strategies and warned voters against falling for grand but hollow promises. During his visit to Bihar's Siwan on Friday, PM Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects, while launching a fierce political attack on the Congress-RJD alliance. In his fourth visit to the poll-bound state this year, the Prime Minister flagged off a state-of-the-art locomotive built at the Marhowra Plant for export to the Republic of Guinea, marking the plant's first-ever export under the 'Make in India' initiative. The locomotive, equipped with high-horsepower engines, advanced AC propulsion, microprocessor-based controls, and regenerative braking, showcases Bihar's growing presence in global manufacturing. 'Now Bihar will be hailed in Africa too,' the Prime Minister said, adding, 'this district has created its space on the manufacturing and export map of the world.' Addressing a public meeting, PM Modi said, 'The NDA is carrying forward the mission of great men like Rajendra Prasad and Brajkishore Prasad.' He linked Bihar's growth to India's rising global stature, stating, 'Leaders of the world see India as the next economic superpower. Bihar will play a major role in this.' Taking aim at the opposition, he accused the Congress and RJD of being 'anti-Bihar and anti-investment.' 'The 'panja' and 'lantern' people together have hurt the pride of Bihar,' he said, referring to the symbols of the Congress and RJD. 'They looted so much that poverty became Bihar's misfortune... But Modi is not the one who becomes quiet after doing so much work. I have to do a lot more for Bihar. Those who brought 'jungle raj' to Bihar are looking for an opportunity to repeat their old deeds somehow. You have to be very cautious for the bright future of your children. People who are ready to put the brake on the journey towards a prosperous Bihar have to be kept at bay. .. These people used to raise slogans of 'gareebi hatao'. But the NDA government made it possible after you voted for us,' he added. 'The RJD-Congress mantra has always been the prosperity of their own families. For your children's future, keep such forces away,' he told the crowd, highlighting that the NDA government has provided over 1.5 crore homes with electricity and water connections, built 55,000 km of rural roads, and established more than 45,000 Common Service Centres.

At Bihar rally, Modi slams Lalu for ‘insulting Babasaheb' — ‘People of Bihar won't forgive'
Slamming Rashtriya Janata Dal patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav for 'insulting Babasaheb', Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that the people of Bihar 'will never forgive the party and its leaders'. Modi, who was speaking at a public meeting in Siwan, was referring to the recent controversy involving RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav alleged 'insult' to a portrait of B R Ambedkar. The controversy erupted after a video from Lalu's birthday celebration went viral, showing a party supporter allegedly placing Dr Ambedkar's portrait near Lalu's feet, prompting the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) to write to Bihar's Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) about it Thursday. Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies have been trying to corner Lalu Prasad and the RJD over the row ahead of the Bihar assembly election. The election is due later this year. 'The Nitish government is responsible for bringing investments into Bihar,' he said at the public meeting. 'But the Congress and the RJD are against investment… We say 'Sabka saath, sabka vikas' but RJD believes in 'parivaar ka vikas',' he said, asking the public to 'vote out those who brought in jungle raj'. The National Democratic Alliance was working for inclusive development, he said. 'I recently met several country heads during my foreign visit, the entire world appreciating India for development,' he said. Significantly, this is his fourth visit to the poll-bound state since the beginning of this year and his third in the last three months. His last visit to the state in May involved a roadshow and the inauguration of a new airport at Bihta. He flagged off a state-of-the-art locomotive built at the Marhowrah Plant under the 'Make in India' initiative. Established in September 2018, the Diesel Locomotive Factory is a joint venture between GE Transportation (now part of Wabtec) and Indian Railways. The factory will export 150 Evolution Series ES43ACmi locomotives to Guinea. He also flagged off the Vande Bharat Express between Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah Friday. At the rally, he also referred to his government's flagship 'Make in India' projects. 'Bihar will become the centre of 'Make in India' initiative,' he said, referring to the locomotive factory.

Notice to Bihar Chief Secretary, DGP over Lalu's ‘insult' to Ambedkar
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has now taken cognisance of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's alleged 'insult' to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and issued a notice to the State's Chief Secretary and Director-General of Police. This comes a week after visuals emerged of the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief celebrating his birthday on June 11, during which a portrait of Dr. Ambedkar was purportedly seen being placed near his feet. This had kicked off a political storm, with leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party, including State and Union Ministers, taking aim at him for allegedly 'insulting' the leader who led the Constitution of India's drafting committee. Protests were also seen across the State over the perceived insult to Dr. Ambedkar. Soon after the incident, Bihar's State Commission for Scheduled Castes had also issued a notice to Mr. Yadav over the insult. On Thursday (June 19), the NCSC issued a notice to the State police chief and the Chief Secretary, seeking a detailed report on the action taken in this case within 15 days of receiving it. The Commission said that it had taken cognizance of the 'insult' to Dr. Ambedkar through newspaper reports and social media posts and was hence taking up the matter.

"Kab maafi maangoge": BJP puts up posters in Patna demanding apology from Lalu Prasad Yadav over BR Ambedkar row
Patna (Bihar) [India], June 17 (ANI): Hitting out at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday put up posters in Patna attacking him for allegedly disrespecting Dr BR Ambedkar during his birthday celebrations. The posters attacking Lalu Prasad Yadav in Patna read, '7 din hone ko hai, kab maafi maangoge Lalu Yadav aur Tejashwi Yadav' (It is about to be 7 days now, Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, when will you apologise?). Controversy erupted after Lalu Prasad Yadav was seen cutting his 78th birthday cake with a sword, drawing criticism from BJP leaders who claimed it symbolised disregard for democratic values and Ambedkar's legacy. On Monday, Union Minister Giriraj Singh demanded an apology from Lalu Prasad Yadav for 'insulting' Dalits. Speaking to reporters, Singh said, 'RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has revealed his true mindset towards Dalits... He has insulted Babasaheb Ambedkar. He must apologise to the Dalits of the country for this act of disrespect. Not just an apology -- he should go to the banks of the Ganga and repent for his actions...' Earlier on Sunday, June 15, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary hit out at the RJD chief on the issue, accusing him of displaying arrogance. He further slammed the RJD chief, noting that no one has seen such an arrogant leader to date and that Yadav and his party workers should apologise for the disrespect shown to Ambedkar.'No one has ever seen a leader as arrogant as Lalu Yadav to date. If he or any of his workers make a mistake regarding Babasaheb Ambedkar, they should apologise. He is arrogant. He continues to act arrogantly and humiliate everyone. Such arrogant leaders should abandon their pride,' Choudhary said. Meanwhile, addressing the issue, former Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing its leaders of having no connection with BR Ambedkar, the Constitution, or reservation policies, while defending his father and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. 'These (BJP) people have nothing to do with Baba Saheb, the Constitution, and Reservation. Lalu Yadav has installed many statues of Baba Saheb Ambedkar in Bihar. We are the people who believe in Ambedkar's ideology. The BJP only spread lies,' Tejashwi asserted. 'Lalu Yadav works for 10 hours at the age of 78 and meets people. He is ill but still they accuse him of such things,' he further highlighted. (ANI)
