Bumblebee 1000's Talladega Nights roadtrip raises €231,458 for Little Blue Heroes charity
BUMBLEBEE 1000 came, we saw, and we conquered, plus we raised €231,458 for the Little Blue Heroes charity. Our latest supercar roadtrip, Talladega Nights, took place over the weekend and this was our biggest event to date with over 100 vehicles taking part. This Bugatti, worth over €5million, is a limited-edition variant of the Chiron that has an incredible top speed of 490.484kph. And taking part in the full roadtrip was a 950bhp LaFerrari, one of only 499 in the world, that's powered by a 6.3-litre V12 and uses F1-derived tech. It was a sight to behold to see this stunning red €3m hypercar cruising the streets of Ireland alongside other beautiful Ferraris like the SF90, the 296 GTB, the F8 and the 458. I joined the action in a 727bhp M5 super saloon thanks to my friends at BMW Ireland and was dressed as the Irish Sun's tamed Motoring Editor The Ligg. But if I had a euro for every time someone commented, 'There's The Stig' as I drove by, I would have easily covered my fuel bill for the weekend. Advertisement Part of our three-day road trip took us through the stunning scenery of the Ring of Kerry. The hills were literally alive with the sound of supercars, and to see and hear over 100 of them roar down through Moll's Gap in sunshine was breathtaking. And I'm sure the thousands who turned out to see their favourite cars were blown away with the sheer amount of rare machines like the limited edition Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63. It's so rare there are only 63 of them made, and the amazing silver model on the trip was also right-hand drive — only a handful of them are in existence. But we saved the best to last as on Sunday when we pulled into the Portlaoise Plaza it was packed with spectators who got to see the finest collection of supercars ever in Ireland at one time. Ferrari To Postpone Its Second EV Because Of 'Zero' Demand
Ferrari F80 hybrid Given the momentum with which global carmakers are surging ahead with electrification plans, it'd seem foolish to think that preparations for a second Ferrari EV model are not in the pipeline, despite the fact that the company's first EV model hasn't even debuted yet. According to Reuters however, Ferrari's second EV is currently in jeopardy, presumably due to almost "zero" demand. Originally intended to be a low-production demonstration of their electrification technology, Ferrari's first electric vehicle is scheduled to debut on October 9, 2025. According to the newswire, an unnamed source claimed that Maranello had to postpone the second model's launch, which was originally slated for 2026, until at least 2028 due to low demand for the series-production model. Ferrari's Maranello factory. (Photo credit should read GABRIEL BOUYS/AFP via Getty Images) Electrification is nothing new to Ferrari. Both the LaFerrari and the SF90 Stradale, the Prancing Horse's first hybrid cars, were widely lauded by both fans and reviewers alike when they were first presented in 2013 and 2019, respectively. Going all EV, meanwhile, appears to be a completely different matter. When Ferrari first revealed its EV plans, many outspoken fans voiced their disapproval, as was to be expected. Some argued about "soul" and "character," while others, perhaps more sensibly, raised concerns about the possible weight gain from the EV batteries, which would compromise driving dynamics. Ferrari is still moving forward with its first EV supercar project, which is expected to launch for about EUR500,000. Their new EV model, to be built at Ferrari's new facility, is an integral part of a three-stage plan with the grand finale slated for sometime in spring (March to June) next year, with deliveries starting in October. Maranello's most recent move is just another example of sports car manufacturers scaling back their electrification plans, as many attribute this development to waning demand and changing market perceptions. Porsche most recently declared that, at least for the foreseeable future, it will continue to develop its internal combustion engines while delaying its electrification ambitions.

Separating From Pininfarina Was 'Difficult,' Says Ferrari Design Head
Back in 2013, Ferrari made the decision to split with longtime external design firm Pininfarina. The move was surprising, given the decades of collaboration and legendary products from the brands. In the years since, Ferrari has grown its own design center, Centro Stile, into a hub for the brand. In an interview with Motor1 , design boss Flavio Manzoni reveals how the split went down, and how Ferrari evolved in a post-Pininfarina environment. Though the last Pininfarina-designed Ferrari, the F12berlinetta , didn't end production until 2017, it was during the development of the LaFerrari when the company decided to part ways with Pininfarina. Manzoni told Motor1 both his internal team and Pininfarina were tasked with presenting a design pitch for the car, with upper management to pick which they preferred. Management picked Manzoni's design, marking the end of Pininfarina-badged Ferraris. Flavio Manzoni, head designer for Ferrari. Photo by: Getty Images "At the beginning it was very, very tough for [Pininfarina] because after more than 60 years of collaboration they had to accept the idea that Ferrari wanted to create [its] in-house design center," Manzoni told Motor1 . "But it was also necessary, because Ferrari was the only car manufacturer in the world without any internal design center, which [was] a bit strange, and also risky." The decision wasn't influenced by opinions in design alone. The very act of building a modern performance car forced Ferrari to take a hard look at the way it designed vehicles. "The other problem was that the level of technical complexity of the cars was increasing a lot," Manzoni said. "So it was necessary to work as a team with synergy, not with the designers working somewhere else and with engineers in Maranello. "The presence of the design center in the in the factory is really important because there are meetings everyday with engineers, aerodynamicists, economists, etc. to converge, step by step, on the best shape possible, considering the incredible performance and objectives that a new Ferrari has to have." Manzoni has been with Ferrari since 2010, responsible for leading the company's in-house design studio since its inception. But once Pininfarina stepped aside, even he was nervous to take on the immense task of designing all future Ferraris. "The beginning was difficult, a lot of pressure," he told Motor1 . The 2025 Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider, a Manzoni-designed creation. Photo by: Ferrari His hard work has paid off, obviously. Since Ferrari went public in 2015, it's grown to nearly nine times its IPO value. The company sells more cars than ever, thanks in part to the Purosangue , its first SUV, released in 2023. The Italian carmaker is also planning to release its first electric vehicle in 2026 . While Manzoni didn't share specifics, he expressed excitement towards working with new technology. "Any project is a challenge," Manzoni said. "Every time there is an opportunity to work on a new technology—for example, all the hybrid Ferraris are new in terms of layout of the components—we had an opportunity to make something different. There's always an opportunity to promote innovation and progress." More on Ferrari Ferrari Is Taking the Memorabilia Market Into Its Own Hands The Ferrari Purosangue Has Magic Suspension.
