Bouchard honoured at Tennis Black List Awards

France's Bouchard has worked within the tennis space for two decades and is the editor Tennis Sweet Spot, a newsletter about professional tennis on and off the court and has produced pieces for the likes of L'Equipe, Tennis Majors, Radio Canada, the BBC, Sports Illustrated, Le Parisien, RTL Radio, the Belgian press, and The Huffington Post. She has also collaborated with Novak Djokovic and his team in writing the book The Quest about Djokovic's historical win at Roland-Garros in 2016 and also translated Maria Sharapova's book 'Unstoppable' for French audiences. For her achievements as a broadcaster and writer as one of the few black journalists with a consistent and respected presence across the ATP, WTA and Slam tours, Bouchard was honoured with the Media award at this year's edition of the Tennis Black List, presented in association with Dante Talent and held during the HSBC Championships at The Queen's Club, London on the 11th of June, supported by the LTA. 'I just want to send a massive thank you to the Tennis Black List for the award,' said Bouchard. 'I am so stoked about it. Please keep the good work you are doing and keep supporting us all. It really matters.' Tennis Black List is the global celebration of Black and mixed black excellence across the game — spotlighting the unsung, the visionary and the next generation of changemakers. Taking place in the run up to The Championships at Wimbledon, the Tennis Black List recognises the contributions of individuals and organisations from grassroots level up to the professional game in Britain and internationally. It follows the example set by the successful and respected Football Black List, created by Leon Mann MBE and Rodney Hinds, and Rugby Black List which have demonstrated the power that celebrating black excellence can achieve in sport. The event was an opportunity to inspire the next generation in the tennis community, with the commitment shown by the winners on and off the court. Awards were handed out in ten categories across the evening at the ceremony, with several recipients present at the The Queen's Club. Founders Anne-Marie Batson and Richard Sackey Addo said: 'This movement is about legacy. Tennis Black List is creating space for Black and mixed-black heritage excellence to be seen, honoured and remembered across all areas of tennis. We are building a global legacy that makes space for what is next.' Launched in 2022; Tennis Black List is the only global platform dedicated to celebrating and documenting Black and mixed-black impact in tennis — from grassroots organisers to elite players. A movement rooted in recognition, legacy, and cultural celebration.

After conquering Europe, PSG now have sights set on Club World Cup glory

"I think it is an incredible competition," PSG coach Luis Enrique said of the Club World Cup in the immediate aftermath of his team's UEFA Champions League triumph in Munich two weeks ago. "Our aim is to be competitive and try to win a fifth trophy of the season." The Qatar-backed French giants could be forgiven for wanting some time to bask in the glory of their 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Munich which allowed them to finally win the Champions League for the first time in their history. There had been numerous agonising failures in Europe's elite club competition, as well as billions of euros spent on transfer fees on stars like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, prior to captain Marquinhos raising the trophy aloft. "We have made history for the club, for the city and for the whole country," defender Lucas Hernandez told sports daily L'Equipe after the PSG squad paraded their trophy down the Champs-Elysees avenue in Paris, attended a reception with President Emmanuel Macron and celebrated with almost 50,000 fans at their Parc des Princes stadium. PSG have played 58 matches since last August and also swept all the available domestic trophies in France this season, as has become the norm in recent years. No time to stop But there is simply no time to stop and reflect. Many of their players, including Champions League final hero Desire Doue, spent last week on international duty before returning to their club and departing for Los Angeles, where they will begin their Club World Cup adventure this weekend. "The tournament itself is a really attractive prospect," Luis Enrique told "We have to strike the balance between managing the physical and mental fatigue we're experiencing now at the end of a long season and harnessing the motivation that comes with being involved in the competition." PSG's opening game will be against another European heavyweight as they take on Antoine Griezmann's Atletico Madrid at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, just outside Los Angeles, on Sunday. They will then also face South American champions Botafogo, of Brazil, before moving north to take on Seattle Sounders in their remaining Group B matches. Expected to qualify for the knockout phase without too many issues, PSG could end up playing a total of seven matches if they make it all the way to the final in New York on July 13 -- just a month before their scheduled first game of next season in the UEFA Supercup against Tottenham Hotspur. The strain of such a long campaign is telling, with Ousmane Dembele -- their top scorer this season with 33 goals -- struggling with an injury picked up playing for France last week. They did not manage to add any new players to their squad during the brief transfer window that opened at the start of this month ahead of the tournament -- reported interest in Bournemouth's Ukrainian defender Illia Zabarnyi did not turn into anything concrete. But the rewards for success in the Club World Cup are enticing and should be enough to keep Luis Enrique's squad focused on their objective, with up to a stunning $125 million in prize money on offer for the best performing European team if they manage to go all the way.

Rangers-linked PSG talent completes move to Portuguese club

The Ibrox club were linked with a move for the 18-year-old earlier this summer. Indeed, Rangers were said to have been monitoring the Camara, with a view to making him an offer to swap Paris for Glasgow. Read more: Their interest soon cooled, though, per L'Equipe, with the club's change in ownership meaning he was no longer a target. Camara has now joined Vitoria Guimaraes, who finished sixth in the Portuguese top flight last season. He has penned a four-year deal with the club. The teenager played 28 times for PSG's under-19s last season, scoring 12 goals and assisting five. An official Guimaraes statement read: "Oumar Camara has headed to Portugal to join Les Conquistadores just days after winning the French Under-19 title, captaining his side to the trophy and scoring the decisive goal in the 80th minute. "The young player, who hails from Paris, completed his youth training at Paris Saint-Germain and is a French international at Under-17 and Under-18 levels. "Known for his versatility in the front line and his attacking talent, Oumar Camara stands out for his leadership skills and is excited about integrating into a new country and a professional senior team."

Ex-footballer, 40, rushed to hospital with serious stab wounds - but neighbours label police account of attempted suicide 'completely FALSE'

Former Ligue 1 footballer Daniel Congre was hospitalised after reportedly being found with serious stab wounds close to his heart. Congre, who played for Toulouse, Montpellier and Dijon during his career, was rushed to hospital after suffering the injury on Monday evening. His wife had called the emergency services, with initial reports stating the 40-year-old had been found unconscious at their home in the town of Perols. French newspaper L'Equipe reported that Congre, who is now a sports coordinator at Ligue 1 club Lyon, had actually been conscious when emergency services arrived. The newspaper quoted the emergency response as mentioning 'a knife deliberately planted in the heart' in their report of the incident. The Montpellier prosecutor's office officially mentioned a 'suicide attempt', although Congre was not officially named. An investigation is ongoing. 'The victim's life is not in danger,' a police source told L'Equipe. 'The intervention of a third party seems to be excluded. 'We are awaiting the doctors' conclusions regarding the nature of the injury and its severity.' The defender, his wife and children had reportedly visited their neighbours on Monday ahead of the incident. Their neighbour, speaking to L'Equipe, insisted the claim of a suicide attempt was 'completely false'. 'Everyone is fine, they were at my house last night (Monday night), Daniel , his wife, and his children. 'Everything that has been said is completely false, I won't tell you anything more. 'He was hospitalised, but not for the reasons given.' Lyon have yet to publicly comment on Congre's hospitalisation following the request of his family. Congre officially joined Lyon as a sports coordinator last November, shorty after his retirement. The former defender is best known for his time at Montpellier, where he made 325 appearances in all competitions. He also made 227 appearances for Toulouse.
