Superman Trailer: David Corenswet Takes On The Baton; Looks Promising As DC's New Superhero

Last Updated: Superman Official Trailer, Release Date: James Gunn-directed Superman trailer shows the superhero not just facing the villains this time, but also facing backlash from people. James Gunn Superman Trailer Official Video: The James Gunn-directed Superman's official trailer is finally here, and this time, the Man of Steel is facing more than just villains. Released on Wednesday, May 14, through DC's YouTube channel, the nearly three-minute-long trailer gave fans a look at what to expect from the revamped DC Universe, which also introduced David Corenswet as the new Superman. The trailer opens with a tense moment where Superman is being interviewed for his recent heroic actions. But instead of praise, he is met with harsh criticism. He is blamed for acting on his own, without taking the government's permission, and even making things worse. The movie is set in a world where people do not trust Superman's ideals, even though he still believes in doing good, justice and truth. Rachel Brosnahan, best known for her role in The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, plays Lois Lane. In the trailer, Lois finally gets a chance to interview Superman. She questions him, 'Recently, you've come under a lot of fire," and adds, 'Today, the Secretary of Defence said he was going to look into your actions." But the superhero laughs at her statement and then asks, 'My actions? I stopped a war!" Lois then challenges him, saying that he entered a foreign country without permission and may have created bigger problems. The trailer then gives a glimpse of Superman standing right in the middle of a battlefield. He responds, 'I wasn't representing anybody except for me and doing good," while a montage of destruction plays. As the trailer continues, we see Superman struggling with public opinion. Some people are still loyal to him, while others think he is overstepping his limits. Despite all his efforts to save people, he is blamed for not following the President's orders. Meanwhile, Superman's arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, is introduced. He adds fuel to the fire, saying, 'He's not a man. He's an 'it' that's somehow become the focal point of the entire world's conversation. I will not accept that." The new film marks the first Superman film in a decade, following Zack Snyder's Man of Steel in 2013. The project, which was previously titled Superman: Legacy, will also see Krypto the Superdog in action. Apart from David, Rachel and Nicholas, the film will see Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Superman will be released in theatres on July 11. First Published:
