Zelenskyy: Putin 'tries to portray himself as mediator' while attacking Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin for attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure while trying to "portray himself as a mediator" for the Iran-Israel conflict. The Ukrainian Air Force said Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 11 missiles and 183 drones from Saturday night through Sunday. Zelenskyy said in a video address on Sunday that Russian attacks damaged energy facilities in Kremenchuk in the central Ukrainian region of Poltava. He accused Russia of targeting civilian infrastructure. He said Russia used Iranian drones to attack the energy facilities "to complicate the work of our air defense systems." On Saturday, Putin spoke with US President Donald Trump by phone and offered Russia's mediation to ease tensions between Israel and Iran. Zelenskyy said, "Putin tries to portray himself as a mediator for the Middle East and attempts to somehow assist his accomplices in Tehran." The Russian defense ministry said its forces launched a strike on an oil refinery in the city of Kremenchuk, which it said supplies fuel to the Ukrainian military in the Donbas region. The Associated Press and other media outlets report that Zelenskyy told reporters on Friday he is concerned that US military support, such as the provision of air-defense systems, might go to Israel rather than to Ukraine. The question now is how the situation in the Middle East would impact Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Ukraine's military said on Sunday it had attacked a Russian drone factory in the city of Yelabuga in Russia's Tatarstan region. The target is around 1,000km from Ukraine. The Ukrainian military general staff said the factory produced, tested, and launched drones at Ukraine, in particular against energy and civil infrastructure. Videos on social media showed an explosion said to be at the factory in Yelabuga, also known as Alabuga, which builds Iranian-designed Shahed drones. The Russian local governor confirmed the attack. Russian forces hit the Kremenchuk oil refinery in Ukraine's Poltava region with missiles and drones, Russia's defence ministry said on Sunday. Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, denounced the attack on the central Poltava region as a vile strike against Ukrainian energy infrastructure, which he said occurred 'after the Americans asked us not to strike at Russian energy facilities'. Ukrainian officials said the strikes mainly hit energy, agricultural and civilian installations. Russian forces have advanced in northern Sumy Oblast and near Kupyansk, Siversk, Chasiv Yar, and Toretsk, according to the Institute for the Study of War. Russia's defence ministry claimed on Sunday that its forces had taken control of the village of Malynivka in the Donetsk region, known in Russia as Ulyanovka. Zelenskiy said on Saturday that Ukrainian forces had recaptured Andriivka village in north-eastern Sumy as part of a drive to expel Russian forces from the area. Neither side's claims were independently confirmed. The Ukrainian office for the return of prisoners of war confirmed on Sunday that Russia had returned 1,200 bodies to Ukraine as part of continuing exchanges. A building used by Boeing in Kyiv was badly damaged in a recent large-scale Russian air attack, the Financial Times reported on Sunday, citing two Boeing employees, three Ukrainian officials and the head of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. There had been 'no operational disruption', Andriy Koryagin, deputy general director of Boeing's operation in Ukraine, told the newspaper, and none of its employees were harmed.

MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russian forces carried out an overnight strike on the Kremenchuk oil refinery that supplies fuel to Ukrainian forces in the Donbas region, Russia's defence ministry said on Sunday. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy denounced the attack on the central Poltava region as a vile strike against Ukrainian energy infrastructure. "Unfortunately, there was damage to the energy infrastructure," Zelenskiy said in his evening address to the nation. "This is Russia's (effort to) spit on everything that the international community is trying to do to stop this war." He said it occurred "after the Americans asked us not to strike at Russian energy facilities." The Russian defence ministry's statement said that missiles had been fired at the refinery in Ukraine's Poltava region from both sea and air and that strike drones were also used in what it said had been a successful attack. Russia has claimed Ukraine's eastern Donbas region as its own and controls most of its two regions, Donetsk and Luhansk. Ukraine is fighting to stop Russia from taking control of the rest of Donbas and has said it plans to retake territory it has lost, through a combination of force and diplomacy. The Russian Defence Ministry said separately that its forces had taken control of the village of Malynivka in the Donetsk region, known in Russia as Ulyanovka. It also said its forces had advanced deep into enemy defences in Ukraine's Sumy region and inflicted heavy losses on Ukrainian units there. Sumy is not one of the regions Russia has formally claimed as its own, but it has spoken of creating a buffer zone there. Zelenskiy said on Saturday that Ukrainian forces had recaptured Andriivka village in northeastern Sumy as part of a drive to expel Russian forces from the area. He said Russia has amassed 53,000 troops in the vicinity.

Russia Says It Struck Kremenchuk Oil Refinery in Central Ukraine
Russia said its overnight missile and drone barrage struck the large Kremenchuk oil refinery in central Ukraine, which was previously targeted by Kremlin forces in 2022. 'A group strike with precision-guided air and sea-based weapons, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles' hit the facility in the Poltava region, Russia's defense ministry said in a Telegram statement.
