Wendy Williams had 'no idea' about her 'money-grubber' ex-husband's lawsuit

Wendy Williams had "no idea" her "money-grubber" ex-husband Kevin Hunter was planning to file a $250 million lawsuit over her guardianship. Hunter - who was married to the presenter from 1999 until 2020 - filed a lawsuit on Tuesday (17.06.25) demanding a jury trial and naming 48 defendants who he claims have violated Wendy's constitutional rights by facilitating a guardianship order which came into force in 2022 - but Wendy has insisted she's not involved with the legal challenge. She told "[I had] no idea [he was filing the suit]. Nor do I want him to be a part of my life like that, no. Because I'm divorced forever ... "He's a money-grubber; he's always been that way. It's good to know that he's doing such evil things - again .. He won't win." Amongst those named in the legal papers are Wendy's legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey, the judge presiding over her guardianship Lisa Sokoloff, Wells Fargo, her assisted living facility and several lawyers. The complaint states: "Guardianship is a civil death. In New York, more than 28,000 adults, which includes (Williams), are being abused, neglected, and defrauded under the care of court-appointed guardians." The Wendy Williams Show host was placed under a legal guardianship in 2022 before it was revealed the following year that she had been diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. LaShawn Thomas, the attorney who filed the lawsuit, acknowledged that Wendy is "not legally aware of all the evidence that supports our claims that she should not be forced to suffer from this guardianship". The statement to People read: "I plan on laying out sufficient evidence to support our claims and ensure that her rights are vindicated and she is made whole financially." Hunter's lawsuit is not looking for an end to the former broadcaster's guardianship but his requests include a "new impartial guardian", the unsealing of her case's files, her release from "involuntary confinement", a full forensic accounting and $250 million in relief for financial loss, repetitional damage, emotional distress, legal costs and the deprivation of Wendy's liberty. Kevin has been named as a co-plaintiff in the case and wants to be appointed as Williams' "next friend" - a party who can legally act "on behalf of an individual unable to assert their own rights and when no guardian is acting in their best interests".

Here are organizations offering free activities for wildfire evacuees in Winnipeg

Amid uncertainty around how long people will be displaced by wildfires in Manitoba, some organizations in Winnipeg are offering free entertainment for evacuees. That's good news for some trying to find ways to pass time while they're out of their homes, like Maximus Ross, an evacuee from Pimicikamak Cree Nation who's been in Winnipeg, about 530 kilometres south of his home community, for over a week. "All we do is stand around here when there's nothing to do," said Ross. "I just sleep, go on my phone." Kevin Hunter, a vice-president with the YMCA of Winnipeg, said his organization is among those trying to help give evacuees something to do in the city. The YMCA is offering free admission for evacuees at its four Winnipeg community hubs. Those locations include pools, recreation facilities, fitness areas and gymnasiums for all ages. Hours of operation and other information for those locations can be found here. "[We] hope we can help as many people as we can," said Hunter. If possible, those going to the YMCA should bring photo identification with them, he said, but "we understand that things are happening fast, so if that's not available that's OK." A Red Cross registration card or other form of identification could be used as well. Hunter said the YMCA is also working with other community groups to receive donations of things like swimsuits and towels that evacuees can use on-site. He added that residents can drop off donations of essential supplies at the YMCA community hubs. As of Thursday, more than 18,000 evacuees have registered with the Red Cross, the province said in a fire bulletin earlier this week, with 28 active wildfires burning in the province as of Friday. The province also said as of Friday, eligible evacuees can apply for support through its wildfire incidental support program. To qualify, evacuees must be permanent Manitoba residents, have a primary residence in a community or First Nation with a mandatory evacuation, and be registered with the Canadian Red Cross, which can be done online or by calling 1-800-863-6582 (toll-free) between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Manitobans evacuated under a mandatory order are eligible to receive $34 per day for everyone age 13 and older and $27 per day for children 12 and under. More information about the support program can be found on the province's website. The Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq is also opening its doors to offer evacuees "a little bit of a reprieve and some creative inspiration … [and the opportunity] to get out and think about anything else," said Katryna Barske, public relations officer with the gallery. Barske said identification is not required, and those coming to the downtown gallery can simply tell the front desk they are an evacuee to get free admission. That offer will stand indefinitely, Barske added. The gallery, located at 300 Memorial Blvd., is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is also offering free admission for evacuees. Visitors should bring proof of address and alert the box office on arrival. The museum, at 85 Israel Asper Way at The Forks, is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Assiniboine Park and Zoo also donated several passes for evacuated families, but the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs said in a social media post all of those passes have been claimed. It said if more passes become available, it will post that information. Wendy Williams's life went off the rails after discovering ex-husband fathered a love child says producer

Wendy Williams's former talk show producer has claimed the host's life began to derail when she found out her now ex-husband had allegedly fathered a child with another woman. News broke in August 2019 that Kevin Hunter, 52, had allegedly impregnated his mistress - despite being married to the beloved television presenter, 60. Wendy had been married to Kevin for 21 years, with the couple eventually divorcing in 2020. Yazmin Ramos, who served as a senior producer on the show, recalled how Wendy was never the same after she learned Kevin allegedly had got another woman pregnant, and her talk show was eventually canceled in 2022 due to her ongoing absences and health issues. Speaking in the upcoming Investigation Discovery documentary Trapped: What is Happening to Wendy Williams, Yazmin claimed Kevin's infidelity began 'eating her up alive.' She began: 'Wendy and Kevin were a power couple. They were able to accomplish a lot of big goals, and they made history. I got to watch their relationship when it was really good, and I also got to see their relationship when it wasn't good. 'Being at The Wendy Show as a producer and seeing her endure life situations that were very difficult for her to face was really hard. 'Despite some of the life situations that she was dealing with, that she may not have wanted to deal with, she was still able to come and show up for the show. 'I was able to see some days behind the scenes that Wendy was dealing with a lot. 'That was very difficult for Wendy because Wendy was in love with her partner and seeing her face that… it was hard for me to know what she was going through.' Referring to the moment when news emerged about Kevin's alleged cheating, Yazmin said that Wendy struggled to cope. She continued: 'Once the world found out that Kevin had another woman pregnant, the show from there was not the same because Wendy was not the same. 'I know that whenever someone is dealing with something that's very difficult, they usually go towards coping mechanisms and however way they can cope they cope. 'Not only did I love Wendy as being my boss, but I love Wendy as a person and I knew she was dealing with a lot of tough stuff at the time. 'During the middle of the season, things just were not as great for her. 'Wendy was able to disconnect and not pay attention as much to what might have been going on, but the minute that she could not hide it anymore, and everyone knew, and she couldn't say anything to justify it, I could tell that it was starting to eat her up alive.' Wendy took a prolonged absence from her talk show at the end of 2018 and through the start of 2019, at the time claiming it was for medical reasons. After serving Kevin with marriage dissolution documents in 2019, sources told that Wendy gave her husband 48 hours to vacate his belongings from their New Jersey mansion. Photos were also obtained at that time of Sharina Hudson's gold matte Ferrari Portofino, a gift from Kevin, being loaded onto the bed of a tow truck. Kevin has not publicly acknowledged his alleged affairs nor has he commented on if he fathered a child outside of wedlock. Wendy claimed she first found out the producer had allegedly been unfaithful while she was pregnant with their son Kevin Jr., now 24. The upcoming ID documentary is set to delve into the #FreeWendy movement and the current push by Wendy's fans and loved ones to have her released from the guardianship she has been under since 2022. The TV personality has been residing at an assisted living facility in the state of New York after being placed under the guardianship of Sabrina Morrissey three years ago.
