Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Says ‘I Want To End Jake Paul's Career'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - MAY 14: Jake Paul, left, gestures towards Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Mexico's ... More former world champion, right, as Oscar De La Hoya, of Golden Boy Promotions, center, looks on during a boxing news conference at the Avalon Hollywood Theatre in Los Angeles on May 14, 2025 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by) On Saturday, June 28, Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will face off in a 10-round boxing match. If Chavez gets his wish, the contest, which will be contested at 200 pounds, will be the final fight of Paul's boxing career. During an interview with Ariel Helwani, Chavez was asked if he was motivated to score a knockout when the two meet at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and get Paul out of boxing. 'Yes,' Chávez said. "You know, I still think that I'm better than Jake Paul, so I think after this fight maybe Jake continues to fight and tries to be a better boxer, but I don't think he has the skills and everything to win the fight. Yes, I want to end Jake Paul's career." Chavez, a former WBC middleweight champion, enters the upcoming matchup with a 54-6-1-1 record. He is coming off a July 2024 decision win over former UFC fighter Uriah Hall. The 39-year-old said of his fight against Paul and what he hopes it could lead to. 'I want to make it clear that I'm still here,' said Chavez. "I'm not old, and I take this sport seriously. I train hard. I'm disciplined. I'm 39, so I don't think I'm old. I still feel good in the gym. I want to prove that I'm still here, that I'm still a good fighter. So I want to fight better opposition after this fight, and that's why I take this fight. Chavez has had a hard time shaking the visual of his 2019 loss to Daniel Jacobs. A fight where he came in overweight and quit in the fifth round. Chavez's action on that night left the crowd at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona showering the ring with debris. Chavez is 3-2 since that loss, but he says he will be a different fighter against Paul. "Now I'm disciplined, I'm focused, I want to finish the fight with Paul with a win and take this opportunity to be back in real boxing. That's my goal." Paul (11-1) has not fought since he defeated Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in November 2024. The Paul vs. Chavez Jr. fight card streams on DAZN PPV. Jake Paul Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr: Full Fight Card

Jake Paul returns to the boxing ring for his first fight since he defeated Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in November 2024. On Saturday, June 28, Paul faces former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. With the boxing event approaching, the full fight card for the Paul vs. Chavez Jr. event has been released. 200 lbs.: Jake Paul (11-1) vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (54-6-1) x 10 200 lbs.: Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez (47-1) vs. Yuniel Dorticos (27-2) Unified Cruiserweight Championship (WBO & WBA titles) x 12 132 lbs.: Holly Holm (33-2-3) vs. Yolanda Vega (10-0) x 10 135 lbs.: Floyd 'Kid Austin' Schofield (18-0, 12) vs. Tevin Farmer (33-8-1) x 10 147 lbs.: Avious Griffin (17-0) vs. Julian Rodriguez (23-1) x 10 147 lbs.: Raul Curiel (15-0-1) vs. Victor Ezequiel Rodriguez (16-0-1) x 10 115 lbs.: John Ramirez (14-1) vs. TBD x10 126 lbs.: Victor Morales (20-0-1) vs. Renee Alvarado (34-16) x10 118 lbs.: Alexander Gueche (7-0, 5) vs Vincent Avina (8-1-1) x10 147 lbs.: Joel Iriarte (7-0) vs. Yusuph Metu (11-2) x10 108 lbs.: Naomy Valle (14-0) vs. Ashley Felix (7-3) x 10 Paul (11-1 with seven KOs) vs. Chavez Jr. (54-6-1 with 34 KOs) headlines a Most Valuable Promotions fight card on June 28 from Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The 10-round affair will be co-promoted by Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions and will air on DAZN pay-per-view. According to ESPN, the contest will have a weight limit of 200 pounds. The matchup between Paul and Chavez Jr. comes after a proposed matchup between the YouTuber-turned-boxer and Canelo Alvarez fell apart earlier this year. "Five years ago, I stepped into the ring for my pro debut after a single amateur fight, and every fight since has been a step towards becoming world champion. I just defeated the baddest man on the planet, and now I'm going against a former champion who conman Canelo couldn't finish," Jake Paul told ESPN. "Chávez Jr. is Mexican, but I, El Gallo De Dorado, have the will and heart of the great Mexican fighters. On Saturday, June 28, live on DAZN pay-per-view, I will knock out Julio and make Chávez Sr. proud in ways Jr. never has. Another massive event from Most Valuable Promotions, with some Oscar De La Hoya seasoning added to the show. Viva La Puerto Rico." "First of all, I will show what I can do now that everything is in the right place in my life - mentally and physically," Chavez said in a statement. "I feel rejuvenated and 10 years younger. Second, I want to thank MVP for taking the risk of fighting me. Unfortunately for their Problem Child, they're going to have a big problem this June-one they won't know how to resolve. Hopefully, when I beat him, people won't underestimate this win." The co-main event of the Paul vs. Chavez Jr. event features Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (47-1, 30 KOs) vs. Yuniel Dorticos (27-2, 25 KOs). Ramirez's WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles will be on the line in that matchup. We will have more on the Paul vs. Chavez fight and the upcoming fight card as fight night nears.

Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. pay-per-view price revealed ahead of June fight

Combat sports fans might need to save up for June 28 with Jake Paul facing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and UFC 317 both taking place on the same night. On Thursday, DAZN revealed the pay-per-view price for the Paul vs. Chavez Jr. fight, which also features former UFC champion Holly Holm making her return to boxing on the undercard. Advertisement The Paul vs. Chavez Jr. fight costs $59.99 for the pay-per-view along with a subscription to DAZN. The boxing match marks Paul's first fight in 2025 after he put on one of the biggest spectacles in history this past November when he defeated former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson with more than 100 million viewers watching the event on Netflix. The win over the 58-year-old Tyson moved Paul's record to 11-1 overall and now he's seeking to add another famous name to his resume when he faces Chavez in June. Of course, Chavez comes into the fight at 39 years old and far removed from the prime of his career when he was a champion and top contender in several different divisions. Over his past six fights, Chavez has gone 3-3 including a shocking loss to UFC legend Anderson Silva, who Paul defeated back in 2022. Advertisement Most recently, Chavez won an uninspired decision over another former UFC fighter in Uriah Hall. The event also includes Holm making her return to boxing for the first time since 2013 when she faces Yolanda Vega on the main card. Paul vs. Chavez is set to go head-to-head with UFC 317, which features a vacant lightweight title fight at the top of the card when Ilia Topuria moves to 155 pounds to challenge former champion Charles Oliveira in the main event while Alexandre Pantoja defends his flyweight title against Kai Kara-France in the co-main event from Las Vegas. UFC 317 costs $79.99 along with a subscription to ESPN+. Advertisement More from

Jake Paul is ‘not a boxer' and Tommy Fury ‘can't fight' says legendary promoter Bob Arum is sensational double blast

LEGENDARY promoter Bob Arum let out a scathing double blast of Jake Paul and Tommy Fury. Arum was not a fan of Paul's recent points win against Mike Tyson, who controversially came out of retirement aged 58. 3 Over 100 MILLION tuned in to watch on Netflix, but now Paul returns on June 28 against ex-middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Chavez - son of the legendary Julio Cesar Sr - has suffered problems outside the ring with substance abuse and lack of commitment. And Arum told FightHype: 'That's not even boxing. Chavez Jr, I thought he had hung up the gloves a long time ago. "Jake Paul is not a boxer. It's spectacle. The Tyson event was sort of demeaning for the sport of boxing. Tyson was an old man. "What are we talking about? But again, if Netflix or somebody else wants to pay for that event, that's fine. I have no interest in it. "I have absolutely no interest in a Jake Paul-Chavez Jr fight, because it's not boxing.' Paul's only defeat in his 12 bouts came in 2023 against Fury losing a split-decision in Saudi Arabia. ESPN - who have a TV deal with Arum's Top Rank company - aired the celebrity grudge match on pay-per-view in America. 3 So Arum was part of the promotion - but refused to hold back on either Paul, 28, or Fury, 26. He said: 'Jake Paul is not fighting a real fighter. He's smarter than you and me combined. EXCLUSIVE- Savannah Marshall risks wrath of former sparring partner Tommy Fury with Jake Paul decision "It's not a scam because people know what they're getting, but he's not interested in fighting somebody that can really give him a whooping. "I mean, I remember when Jake Paul, before he caught onto this stuff, and I was in England and he was fighting Tyson Fury's half-brother Tommy Fury, who can't fight. "Tommy Fury won every round, won a decision and there's very few heavyweights that you can name that Tommy Fury would last more than one or two rounds." 3

Julio Cesar Chavez Sr says there's ‘no way' his son gets ‘embarrassed' by Jake Paul

Boxing great Julio Cesar Chavez Sr cannot fathom a world where his son is beaten by Jake Paul after 'The Problem Child' vowed to 'embarrass' the former world champion. Paul, 28, is set to take on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in California on June 28, coming into his next in-ring bout off the back of beating 58-year-old Mike Tyson back in November. The American remains a highly divisive figure in the sport but having mainly boxed MMA fighters in his journey so far, he now faces the test of Chavez Jr, a former WBC middleweight champion. Chavez Jr, 39, has won 53 of his 61 fights, but has only competed once since 2021 - a lacklustre decision win over ex-UFC star Uriah Hall. Nevertheless, Chavez Sr, 62, is still confident Paul doesn't stand a chance against his son. "Jake Paul is young and strong, but he's never faced a fighter like my son," Chavez Sr said at Wednesday's news conference. "I would've given Mike Tyson a better fight. He didn't throw one punch the whole fight. "I haven't seen him train at this level for many years. If he keeps this up until the fight, there is no way Jake Paul is going to beat my son.' A former Disney Channel child actor, Paul has amassed a record of 11 wins since making his jump into boxing, with his only loss coming against Tommy Fury in 2023. Taking on a man who has previously gone the distance with pound-for-pound superstar Canelo Alvarez, Paul is raring to humiliate the former champion in his pursuit of an unlikely cruiserweight title shot. "This is his toughest fight to date, and I'm going to embarrass him and make him quit like he always does," Paul said. "This guy is a great fighter, and I want to test myself against the best in the world. "Going from Disney Channel to YouTube to world champion in six to seven years? That's the most relatable and best sports story that any kid can get behind.'
