The ban, due to take effect on June 9, is the latest step in Trump's sweeping immigration agenda. Since taking office in January, he has cracked down on undocumented migration, ramped up deportations and restarted construction of a wall along the US-Mexico border that he initiated during his first presidential term. He is also seeking to end automatic US citizenship for children born in the country to parents who are there unlawfully.

By and Josh Wingrove Updated on Save President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed a proclamation that bans individuals from 12 countries from entering the US, reinstating one of the most controversial and defining measures from his first term in the wake of an attack in Boulder, Colorado, that targeted a march in support of Israeli hostages. The second-term travel ban covers Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. The measure also partially limits entry of people from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.

Trump to increase steel tariffs to 50% from 25%, Bloomberg reports

U.S. President Donald Trump said he would raise tariffs on steel to 50% from 25%, claiming such an action would help protect American steelworkers during a visit to a U.S. Steel (X) factory on Friday, Bloomberg's Josh Wingrove and Joe Deaux report. The president was visiting the plant to champion the expected tie-up between U.S. Steel and Nippon Steel (NPSCY) as one that would ensure the American company continues to be U.S.-owned and operated, even as details on the pact are still scarce, the authors say. Trump said the new tariffs would benefit the new entity's U.S. operations, the authors note.
