Major SEC Program Pushing For Highly-Touted Texas WR Commit

Major SEC Program Pushing For Highly-Touted Texas WR Commit originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns will have to hold off an SEC foe to keep four-star wide receiver commit Chris Stewart in the fold. Advertisement Stewart (6-foot, 175 pounds) plays for Shadow Creek High School in Pearland, Texas, where he ranks as the No. 6 wide receiver, the No. 25 player in the state and a top-200 recruit in the 2026 class (Rivals). Texas gained Stewart's commitment on June 25 of last year before he went on to total a career-best 60 receptions for 922 yards with 15 touchdowns. Stewart hasn't wavered from his pledge to the Longhorns, but he has taken multiple official visits to other programs this summer, like SMU (May 2), Miami (May 30) and Arizona State (June 6). Additionally, the recruit scheduled an official trip to Tennessee for this weekend, he announced Wednesday via On3's Chad Simmons. Tennessee Volunteers football head coach Josh Heupel© Brianna Paciorka/News Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Head coach Josh Heupel and the Volunteers signed the nation's No. 11 class in the 2025 cycle after making the program's first College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. Advertisement The Vols, who currently sit 13th in the class of 2026, will make their pitch to Stewart over the weekend as they push for the longtime Texas commit. The silver lining for Longhorns faithful is that Stewart is scheduled to return to Texas next week, his final official trip of the summer. Sarkisian and Co. have done a commendable job in keeping their top recruits committed, especially within the class of 2025, which finished as the top class in the country. Stewart is a key piece of a Texas class that currently sits 11th nationally. On Monday, Heupel and the Volunteers added Marion Hobby to their defensive staff, bringing in an established staff member with extensive NFL and college football experience, per Matt Zenitz. Before accepting a role on the defensive staff, coaching under Josh Heupel, Marion Hobby served as the defensive line coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. Highly Touted Star Running Back Sends Strong Message on Tennessee Football

Highly Touted Star Running Back Sends Strong Message on Tennessee Football originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One of the top running backs in the 2027 recruiting class was back in Knoxville, Tennessee this weekend. While talking about the visit with On3's Matt Ray, he couldn't stop saying great things about the Tennessee Volunteers. Advertisement 'This visit was just special,' four-star running back Tyson Robison told Ray. 'Just sitting in the position meetings and watching different things. Just talking to Coach Sims and Coach Heupel was just great. Coach Heupel just connects with players, and I love it.' Robinson suggested the more he is Knoxville, the more he likes the program, which now sits at or near the top of his school rankings. "High. High," Robinson said when asked where Tennessee is in his recruiting after the weekend. "They are very high for me." Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel© Andrew Nelles / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Robinson explained why every time he's been on Tennessee's campus has been great. Advertisement 'Each time here is just different,' Robinson added. 'Like my first time here, we talked about inside zone, and we just keep talking about more and more, like this time we talked about blocking schemes and triangle schemes. "Just coaching points that you can take and learn, so I think it is more beneficial to me.' Ray reported Friday that Robinson is already planning two more visits to Knoxville. The running back "hopes to return" to Tennessee's campus again in June. Robinson is also planning to be at Neyland Stadium for the matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs this fall. The 247 Sports composite rankings have Robinson rated as the No. 3 running back and No. 2 Mississippi prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
