Katrina survivor builds homes from cargo ship containers to weather all storms

HARVEY, La. (WGNO) — In Louisiana, with his West Bank crew, Josh Clark is in the business of building and rebuilding. His construction site is inside a cargo container, a big steel shipping box built to withstand a typhoon in the ocean. WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood finds Clark at his headquarters in Harvey, La. That's where they turn these transportation contraptions into homes. You get a bedroom, a bathroom, a living room and kitchen. Clark practices what he preaches. Home Sweet Home for him is one of his cargo container creations. He lives, these days, down the Bayou, about an hour down the road from New Orleans in Cut Off, Louisiana. But when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, he was in the French Quarter. He was a writer and still is. After Katrina, he moved to a solar-powered Louisiana log cabin. That was until Hurricane Ida destroyed it in 2021. Then he headed west to the California Coast. He figured it would be a more peaceful place to write books. That was until the wildfires. He made it through the fire. It was the mudslides a few days after that left him homeless again. 'I've taken it all, earth, wind, water, fire,' said Clark tells. Bill Wood asks, 'didn't you want to just give up?' He says, 'No, I wanted to keep building, I wanted to find something sustainable other people could live in.' And that's what he's doing with ARK Container Homes. He says it's 'where beauty meets strength.' You'll see Clark and more on our WGNO Special called Hurricane Season 2025-Your Questions Answered. Fracking wastewater spills from tanker truck after crash in Sullivan Twp

SULLIVAN TWP., Pa. (WETM) — A tanker truck carrying fracking wastewater rolled 100 feet down an embankment in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, on Monday, spilling about 2,000 gallons of flowback water into a nearby stream, according to a release from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The crash happened in the early morning on Monday, May 12, near 332 Connelly Mountain Road in the Sullivan Township area, Josh Clark from the Mansfield Hose Company explained in the release. According to Clark, the truck left the road and flipped onto its side into a small stream. 'Operation Yellow Jacket' targets work zone speeders in North Central PA About half of its load leaked out from the top hatch of the tank, but no fuel was observed after absorbents and pads were placed in and around the stream as a precaution, the release further stated. Clark said the truck was assumed to be coming from a well pad site on Mountain Ridge Road in Mainesburg, PA. The release stated Moore's trucking company went to the scene with a pump truck to remove the remaining liquid from the overturned tanker, and B&W Towing Company also helped with cleanup. DEP officials remained on-site on Monday to make sure everything was being properly taken care of. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Animal porn on Lhanbryde man's iPhone was WhatsApp 'banter', court hears

A Lhanbryde man who had videos of animal pornography on his mobile phone said he only had them because it was 'banter' in a WhatsApp group chat. Josh Clark's home was raided in July 2023 by police who seized an iPhone within his bedroom. On it were three videos of humans having sex with animals. At Elgin Sheriff Court on Thursday, when he appeared for sentencing, the court was told the 30-year-old's device automatically downloaded the content between 2018 and the date he was raided because he was part of a WhatsApp group that thought the videos were 'banter'. Clark, of St Brydes Court, had earlier pleaded guilty to possessing the videos on the day of his trial last month and sentence was deferred to yesterday for background reports on his circumstances. At this sentencing, defence solicitor Stephen Carty explained how his client came to have the porn and said he had no idea they were illegal. 'Somebody else posted these videos onto the group,' he said. 'My submission, my lord, is that we have a situation where there was generally banter going on. These videos are placed on there by another individual. It's a matter of enormous embarrassment to him. 'At the time, he indicated to me he had no idea this was actually illegal. 'The whole situation has had quite a significant effect on Mr Clark. Certainly, in dealings with my firm, he's always been extremely anxious regarding this case and extremely upset.' He added that the conviction has been a 'significant and serious lesson' for Clark. Presiding over the case, Sheriff David Harvie said he was satisfied Clark had not sought to download illegal porn on purpose. He said: 'You appear before the court as a first offender and there is nothing in the material before me to suggest that this is material that you have downloaded other than being sent. 'In all the circumstances, I'm prepared to deal with this by way of a structure of deferred sentence.' His ruling, to defer sentence, will mean Clark must endeavour to be of good character and behaviour for the next six months before returning to court once more.
