(AP Photo/John Froschauer) SEATTLE (AP) — J.P. Crawford hit a grand slam, Emerson Hancock tossed seven scoreless innings and the Seattle Mariners beat the Cleveland Guardians 6-0 on Sunday to complete a sweep. After an RBI single by Miles Mastrobuoni with one out in the second inning gave the Mariners an early advantage, Crawford opened up the floodgates while the bases were still loaded. He turned on a hanging slider from Luis Ortiz (3-8) and cranked a home run to right field for the fourth grand slam of his major league career. Advertisement Mastrobuoni's RBI single alone would have been sufficient, though, for Hancock (3-2). The young right-hander turned in easily the best start of his major league career, yielding only two hits — both of them singles — while walking one batter and striking out four. Hancock was extremely efficient, needing only 85 pitches to make it through seven innings. Relievers Casey Legumina and Eduard Bazardo then followed Hancock to complete the combined shutout, which was just the Mariners' second of the season. They also blanked the Miami Marlins on April 26. Key moment Things went south for Ortiz after he issued a leadoff walk to Randy Arozarena in the second inning. He also walked outfielder Dominic Canzone before Crawford's grand slam gave the Mariners a lead they would not look back from. Advertisement Key stat Since 2023, Crawford is hitting .593 with 42 RBIs when the bases are loaded. He is a career .400 hitter in such situations. Up next Seattle right-hander Logan Gilbert (1-1, 2.37) will return from the injured list and start for the Mariners on Monday against the Red Sox, who will send out right-hander Lucas Giolito (2-1, 5.45). The Guardians travel to San Francisco for a series-opener on Tuesday. ___ AP MLB:

Jorge Polanco's RBI single in 9th lifts Mariners past Guardians

June 15 - Jorge Polanco grounded a bases-loaded single into center field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Seattle Mariners rallied to defeat the visiting Cleveland Guardians 4-3 Saturday night, Trailing 3-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth against Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase (4-1), Dominic Canzone lined a leadoff single to right. Pinch-runner Dylan Moore stole second and pinch-hitter Miles Mastrobuoni walked before rookie Cole Young advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt. The Guardians intentionally walked J.P. Crawford to load the bases. But Moore raced home on a wild pitch to tie the score. Clase struck out Julio Rodriguez before an intentional walk to Cal Raleigh re-loaded the bases. Polanco grounded a 1-1 cutter up the middle as the Mariners won for just the third time in their past 11 games. Jose Ramirez homered for the Guardians, who lost for the seventh time in their past nine. Mariners reliever Jackson Kowar (1-0) got the victory. Trailing 2-0, the Guardians scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take the lead. With one out in the fourth, Carlos Santana and Daniel Schneemann singled. Nolan Jones lined a two-out double to left-center field to score Santana. Schneemann led off with an infield single and advanced to third on Jones' one-out single to right. A wild pitch by Speier allowed the go-ahead run to score. The Mariners got off to a strong start as Crawford led off the bottom of the first with a single to right, stole second and took third on Rodriguez's bloop single to center. Raleigh doubled off the right-field wall to open the scoring and Polanco hit a sacrifice fly to center to make it 2-0. Both starters went five innings. Polanco's RBI single in 9th inning secures Mariners' 4-3 win over Guardians

SEATTLE (AP) — Jorge Polanco hit a walk-off RBI single in the ninth inning and the Seattle Mariners beat the Cleveland Guardians 4-3 on Saturday night. With one out and the bases loaded, Polanco smacked a single up the middle off Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase (4-1), who blew a save opportunity earlier in the frame when he threw a wild pitch that allowed Dylan Moore to score and tie the game at 3-all. The Mariners jumped to an early lead by plating a pair of runs in the second off Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee. Cal Raleigh hit an RBI double to left and Polanco added a sacrifice fly. Bibee gave up two runs and four hits in five innings. But the Guardians scored the game's next three runs, including a solo home run by José Ramírez in the fifth, which increased his career-long on-base streak to 39 games, the longest active on-base streak in the majors. Those offensive contributions weren't enough to keep the Mariners from coming back, though, and Jackson Kowar (1-0) from earning his first victory of the season with a perfect ninth. Key moment Dominic Canzone led off the bottom of the ninth with a single, and pinch runner Dylan Moore stole second base. Moore advanced to third on a textbook sacrifice bunt by Cole Young, then Moore scored with ease on Clase's wild pitch. Key stat Seattle starter George Kirby's streak of 68 consecutive starts walking two or few batters was snapped on Saturday with three walks. It is the third-longest streak in major league history, trailing only right-handers Carlos Silva and Cy Young. Up next RHP Emerson Hancock (2-2, 5.04 ERA) will start for the Mariners on Sunday. RHP Luis Ortiz (3-7, 4.26) will start for the Guardians in the final game of the three-game set. ___ AP MLB:
